The staff was pretty friendly here, which is a plus. Â The drink specials looks pretty yummy but we didn't order them..maybe next time. we ordered the firehouse chili and the french onion soup....the french onion was awfully salty but still tasty. Â The chili was pretty good too with a nice kick. Â I also ordered the buffalo chix salad. All they did was put hot sauce on the chicken and call it "buffalo chicken" I still thought it was a good salad and would probably order it again. One thing I did not like about the place was the music...they really need to re-evaluate what kind of music they are going to play..it was pretty bad.
Review Source:The mean streets of Chesterfield don't have much to offer outside the typical suburban fare (Applebee's, Ruby Tuesdays, etc), so this neighborhood restaurant is a pleasant change!
This place used to be the Flying Machine, but sometime in the past 10 years, it was bought by a former (or current?) firefighter and re-christened "The Firehouse". Â I don't remember the Flying Machine, but I liked their airplane logo better than the generic flames of this place...
But anyway, my family and I have tried several of the dishes here, and we've never been disappointed. Â The prices are reasonable, and they have especially nice specials in the summer when the fish are freshest. Â
Plus, it's not one of those restaurants that cater solely to retirees - not a jello dish to be seen.
"Feed the fire" is their motto. Â "Wait until midnight when it's 32 degrees and snowing before you try to figure out dinner plans" is ours.
The Firehouse website (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thefirehouseongratiot.com&s=77a48365c852592a4c72cdbcd16efe1bcb813550aac78f780bf5387498ca505f" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.thefirehouseo…</a>) was very hard to find online  but everything else was pretty great:  The HB didn't like his FAMOUS FIREHOUSE BAR-B-QUE RIBS (1/2 SLAB - $10.95) "Not very flavorful and the sauce was weird."  but he said the HOT AND SPICY BUFFALO WINGS ($5.25) were "fantastic". Â
My carnivorous bro in law said his *JAWS OF LIFE BURGER - ($3.75) killed it! Â Sister and I shared the CHICKEN SALAD ($7.95)
Char-grilled chicken with lettuce, raisins, mixed nuts, cheese, and eggs and a bowl of  "the best clam chowder outside California".
If Yelp had sound effects and graphics I would provide  the wooooooo-wooooooooooo sound and a cute little black and white dalmation.  Until then......overall:  excellent service  (we ordered take out and got the hell outta there quickly) and really good, freshly made food.
With a burger called THE JAWS OF LIFE and a total bill of $45.00 for 4 people, how can you go wrong?
