Although I've lived in town for years, I hadn't discovered this little gem until a few months ago. Â On certain nights they have guest wineries in and serve flights. Â They also have a wonderful array of wine from the area which you can purchase by the glass or bottle. Â Staff is great! Â They have all kinds of fun merchandise to buy and a small deli section for snacks. Â I also found out, they let you bring food IN...so one night we ordered dinner from Strizzi's next door, brought it over, had a bottle of their wine and enjoyed ourselves for a few hours. Â Love this place and will definitey make it a regular stop when downtown!
Review Source:Cute little wine bar in Downtown Livermore. When my friend and I stopped in a girl was performing cover songs with her keyboard. She had a great voice. You can also try some local and not so local wines here. Not sure how the pricing is since, we stopped in to say hi to friends. My friend grabbed a glass of wine though and she said the prices weren't bad.
Staff here are friendly and you can also get some crackers and cheese to go with your wine.
I hadn't been in for a long, long time. I went in on Saturday and did a tasting. The woman working was very friendly and welcoming. The other customers were great. It had a real hometown feeling to it. The tasting was fairly priced and excellent. I ended up buying a bottle of Papillon that was not part of the tasting but caught my eye as well as a cigar. I'll come back and check out the clubs.
I'd say that if you haven't been in the shop for a while (I was last in 4 years ago!), give it another try. Great atmosphere and fair prices.
I'm a frequent downtown livermore flyer and I'm very much in love with everything(almost) downtown. First Street Wine Company is such a great little place where you can taste, learn, and enjoy wine! I left there happy with my purchases and eager to come back for more. You can't get that service much anymore.
Review Source:What a treasure this little shop is!
I had stopped in here once before to just take a look and was quite intrigued with how quaint and endearing the place was. So, after work one Friday before meeting up with my bf, I decided to stop in and have a few glasses of wine.
I sat at the bar and was greeted and helped by the very lovely Julie. She was extremely friendly and made me feel right at home.
They have flights of rotating wines to try every Friday through Sunday. This Friday was a selection of red wines- one Cabernet, one red blend, a Chianti and a Zinfandel for $10.00 I am not a cab drinker so, I decided to pass on the flight and just have a glass of the zin presented. It was extremely smooth and delectable. I later had a half glass of the red blend which was absolutely divine!
They really have an excellent selection of very unique wine's at an extremely reasonable price to purchase. I also love the fact that you can purchase a bottle of wine there and enjoy it there as well, with no additional charge.
I really had an enjoyable time here and look forward to my next visit.
This is a great place to have a relaxed, non-pretentious glass of wine. My girlfriend and I came here on a Sat. afternoon and had such a great time that we returned after our dinner date for an additional glass. The pourer was very friendly and seemed more concerned with what kind of wine we liked rather than selling us something we didn't want. His sales skills were on point that day because we walked away with two mid-range price bottles without having any qualms about it.
I will definitely be back here to enjoy a nice glass of wine during this peak season.
Winemaker from local winery waited on us tonight. Â He was very nice. Â The red wine flight for $10 was really great, except for a wine from Australia that had been opened a little too long. Â Otherwise very good however. Â It's fun to people watch while sitting outside. Â Highly recommend this wine bar.
Review Source:I've had wine here twice, on both occasions it was a pleasant experience. The wine is excellent  and mostly local. The service is great. I like that it's a wine bar but you can also purchase wine to take home. That is a major bonus since some of the  wines can only be bought through the wineries and can be difficult to visit on a busy schedule.  I have gone in here on several occasions simply to purchase wine. It's great!
Review Source:A great selection of wines. An easy to navigate store. Wine tasting for only $10., gourmet picnic supplies and more.
It was fate, that is what it was. After getting a great lesson in all-that-is-wine from my father at an Italian restaurant, we walk past this wine shop which was located only a few doors down.
I've never known anything about Livermore's wine production, but the center isle as you walk in to the market is dedicated to local talent. If Livermore's wine is half as cool as their fun downtown walks, they are definitely worth a try.
A refrigerated area to your left sells stinky French cheeses (my favorite kind) charcuterie, and the perfect picnic basket fillers to accompany your bottle selections. To the right of the market as you walk in, sits a bar with chairs available to those who want a tasting experience. A shelf to the rear of the market dedicates a section to South American reds, my favorites reds. The rear of the store, Italy, Germany and France. All your bases are covered.
My favorites were in the chill section just past the tasting bar. The sweet stuff. Â Alsatian ice wine only $22. was a must for me.
I didn't see any ridiculous bargains here. There were many modest priced bottles, some moderately priced, and some overpriced. To be honest, I've seen a few of the varieties at a lower price sold by Trader Joe's. That Joe hosts a wine bargain paradise!
Ok for wine tasting, but a little boring and stuffy. Not many young people, definitely an older crowd. They sell cheese and appetizers now, but it's quite pricey. If you're looking for a more hip wine bar, check out Swirl down the street. Live music, a variety of appetizers, and not one bit stuffy.
Review Source:A Fantastic Wine Shop, and awesome Wine Bar!
The new owners Mike and Linda really know their stuff. They have literally tripled the inventory from previous owners and continue to add more. The selection is amazing, as they focus om promoting the Livermore Valley's best wines, and also fantastic wines from all over the world at great prices. They have bottles of wine ranging from $10 to $150, and glasses of wine at the bat starting at only 5 bucks!
Ok, here are some great details of the shop:
1) They have hundreds of wines, that are hand selected by and incredibly savvy wine buyer.
2) They meet or beat pricing found at Safeway!
3) They do wine flights on Friday - Sunday.
4) They do winemaker and winery tasting nights almost every thursday night. (These are so darn cool)
5) They have a great selection of Cigars!
6) Incredible selection of wine accessories.
7) The owners and the staff are simply fantastic!
8) You can buy a bottle of wine at the shop to drink there, or you can bring it to a local eatery, and most of them won't charge you a corkage fee!
9) Great cheese case with fine cheeses and meats. You can come in and grab some crackers, cheese, and some excellent wine!
10) Great selection of Beers from Firestone and Sierra Nevada as well.
Overall this is one of the better wine shops I've ever been to, and I will try to shop local at this shop whenever I can, and will always see what great winery they have doing a tasting next!
Cheers!
Dave
The most knowledgeable wine location in the Valley. Currently Jeff offers a different tasting program on Wednesday, most Thursday's & Friday. Why ponder looking ar the shelves at TJ's or Safeway when you have such a wonderful wine resourse close ar hand. Stop in and spend some time discussing your food & wine pairings, Jeff will certainly steer you in the right direction.
Review Source:Fantastic place to taste and buy wine. Â They carry a vary nice selection of wines that are yummy at any price point. Â Everything that is in stock is hand picked by the owner and his staff...everything has been tasted prior to being added to the inventory. Â They are very knowledgeable and friendly. Â Flight tastings on Friday nights (other nights too) are a great deal of fun. Â For around $10 you get to taste several hand selected wines in a charming atmosphere. Â It's really easy to fall into becoming a 'regular'. Â The only thing keeping me from giving the 5th star is that the store is primarily a 'bottle shop' and not a 'wine bar', and they don't offer food. Â It would be great if you could pair with some nice cheeses or fruit and crackers.
Review Source:This is a great place to taste and buy wine! I've been there several times several times to buy and once tasting.  The staff is VERY friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they have- even if you say you don't want to spend a ton of money they'll still recommend some good wines and be friendly to you- they aren't stuck up or pretentious at all.  When going there for tastings be prepared to chat- when I went, there were people there who were obviously regulars  who were very chatty.
Review Source:Any place that  that has a tasting room downtown is A-OK in my book. You can run your errands, do some tasting, go shopping, do some tasting, go eat, do some tasting, hang out and do some tasting! Did I mention that they also have a great selection of California (not just Livermore) and European wines at good prices?
The only thing that would make this place better is if they did food pairings. But they are right next to Strizzi's and across the street from Lemon Grass Thai Retaurant and Sansar Indian Cuisine.  This would be a great place to start out on a date night or a mellower (is that a word?) Girl's Night Out.
For $10 you can  taste 5-6 wines at the wine bar.  The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and will make great recommendations if you are "stuck" on what to pair with a specific food.  They  offer 3 different wine clubs and when I was there, a parade of "clubbees" came through to pick up their shipments and have a taste.  My husband and I are joining one of the clubs so I will write more after we've gotten a few shipments.
