I'd heard a number of very good reviews about Flemings and I know that prices were high, but it was our 25th anniversary, so we were willing to splurge.

    Why the 2 star rating?
    1)  Very noisy, reminded me of a TGIFridays.
    2)  Our waitress was one of the rudest I have ever encountered.  When she saw that we were not going to order wine, she must have passed us off as not worth her kindness and gave us the cold shoulder for the rest of the evening.
    3)  Presentation of the food was comparable to a mediocre sit down restaurant.
    4)  Bus boys were nice but very unprofessional, certainly not what you would expect for the prices on the menu.
    5)  My husband and I dressed nicely because we knew that we were going out for a costly meal.  The people seated around us had on jeans and tee shirts.  This really detracted from a pleasant ambiance.
    5)  The food was good, but not stellar.  I have had better for lower prices.

If the prices were not outrageously high I would have definitely given Flemings a higher rating.  The motto "you get what you pay for" is not applicable here.

I was most amazed by the fact that it was a Tuesday night and the place was packed.  I even saw a number of young children.  I simply cannot understand the popularity of this place.

We were here with two other couples for the "5 for $6" bar menu (it goes from 5-7pm). No question this is a real bargain. I had the BBQ shrimp appetizer. My wife had the flatbread entrée and every one else had a hamburger. I tasted them all and they were excellent A choice of five wines and five cocktails were also $6 each. The food was excellent---a solid four star and close to a five star.
Why only three stars?? The total experience had some problems. First, the only seating for six was at two round high-top tables pushed together by the door to the patio (a very busy traffic area)----not a very comfortable situation. Secondly the five wine choices were very limited and the pour was short.. If we had been with only one couple and had a comfortable booth I would easily give four stars.
The good news is that we got out of there with a bill just under $50 including tip---a first for us at Fleming's. We'll probably go back---but not with a crowd.

Had filted topped with gorgonzola cheese. Service is better than others.we enjoyed the wine and atmosphere around. Not to mention lava cake was little more than good.

I debated on the stars.  The meal was top notch; the service was excellent; the ambience was very nice; and one of the owners stopped by to make sure everything was o.k.  So it was a give star experience.

So why debate the stars?  It is very expensive.  I went because I received a $50 gift card.  What we ordered:  two glasses of wine (total $12 - not expensive wine), two of the 6-oz filets with "fleming potatoes" (it was the cheapest steak on the menu).  We split an order of asparagus, and we split a dessert.  With tip, the cost was $140.  I got the gift card so I only spent $90.

Pretty great for a very special occasion, but not something I'd do very often.

I can confirm that the service is very good and the food is very good.  Figure $100 per person.  So, it is pricey, but you get a good product and have a great evening.

    My Manhatten was excellent.

Others mentioned the Porcini rubbed filet mignon.  I am not sure who discovered that you could rub a steak with a mushroom to make it delicious, but it sure works. Loved it.

One gripe is that all the parking spaces anywhere near the door are reserved for valet (complimentary).

Fleming's hit a home run for us at our first visit last week.  It was a Monday.  I had the day off and my husband loves going out on Mondays.  And he wanted a steak.   We were able to get in and had a wonderful dinner.  Everything was very well done, as you would expect -  Fleming's is not inexpensive.  Our server did an excellent job.  I had the smallest filet and my husband had a NY strip steak.  We did not try the lava cake, but instead split the dessert of the day (something with almonds and cream and berries - amazingly yummy).  The restaurant was fairly full - mostly groups of business people.  There is valet parking - which we didn't use.  If you don't valet park, there is a bit of a walk but there is plenty of parking.   The only odd thing about our experience was the server was really focused on explaining the exact cost of everything.  I'm sure that's just what they have to do, but it was a little distracting.  In general, however,  Fleming's has a great wine list, awesome food, upscale atmosphere, and really good service.  We will be definitely go back, but likely for a special occasion.

Service, amazing, atmosphere amazing, food amazing, wine amazing BUT expensive! If you want good wine go here, if you want generous pours, go some where else.
Shared small plates and sides with a girlfriend also the lava cake.  The lava cake was good but not really worth it.
    It was a lovely evening.

Really wish that I could rate this restaurant higher.  Service and atmosphere is excellent, but I was hardly blown away by the food.  Seafood was good but the steak was below average.  I've had better steaks at Lone Star Steak house and for less than half the price.  (and no I don't work for LSSH.)  For the 7 of us the meal came in at just under 400 bucks.

My apologies for the delay in posting... I wrote up this review in December and kept forgetting to post it with all the holiday fun!
We had an out of town guest that needed to have a little get together.... And one of my cousins mentioned Flemings.  And all mentioned that Flemings has an incredible happy hour.   My husband and I try to do their happy hour occasionally but as everyone knows, with the holidays... it is tough.  One of my favorite things about Flemings happy hour is that you can try one of every appetizer- you get a mix of good flavors and enough food but you don't have to commit to an entire meal.

We thankfully got 9 seats in the bar area.... I know, almost unheard of but we were all ready at 5pm.  We have two wonderful waitresses- (please excuse if I spell them incorrectly- Athena and Delfina).  My husband ordered the Pinot Noir from California and although it was different than the last time we were there- it was very nice.  I ordered the red blend but then switched to the Pinot Noir as well.  Both were excellent.  With the large group, we had opportunities to try almost everything.  Our personal favorites for the mixed drinks were the ruby slipper and the clear cosmo- everything on their happy hour menu is only $6 (or 2 for $6 blue moons).

We started with a mix of appetizers- pork belly, roasted mushroom ravioli, calamari..... all were nicely portioned and delicious.

Everyone at the table also backed up the appetizers with a prime rib burger for only $6 (it also comes with fries).  We always order it medium rare and it is so scrumptious!  We never felt rushed throughout our dining experience and enjoyed every minute.

Will be back.... in fact, next week :)

First of all I'd like to comment on the atmosphere of the entire place. Very classy, friendly, not stuck up, and definitely up scale. I felt like it was a nice night out but didn't feel out of place. Overall very nice feel to the dining room.
Me and my boyfriend went for our anniversary. They were very nice, congratulating us all through our the night. Very cute. Additionally, they wrote with chocolate sauce on our plate for dessert "Happy Anniversary"  I really enjoyed it.
The dinner was great. We had the Calamari for an appetizer which I didn't think I would like. Turns out I actually did like it very much so that was a fun thing to try. I had the filet mignon which was of course delicious. My boyfriend had the pork which was massive. Normally I don't like pork but it smelled and looked so good I had to try. Once again I was surprised because I loved it.
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere.

Flemings continues to hit it out of the park when it comes to service and outstanding food!

I went back during a recent visit to Livonia and they couldn't have been more accommodating to all my special requests.  My crab legs were steamed perfectly and served with grilled lemons.  And my mom's short rib and spinach fell apart at the touch of her fork.

Our server, Kristi, was delightful, the manager thanked us for our business and the whole experience was top notch.  I eat at Flemings all across the country and I am amazed at the consistency of great service and outstanding food!

In life, I have learned that it is better to be an expert at a few things than mediocre at many things.... And I am an expert at enjoying happy hours!

And Fleming's happy hour is one of my favorites. (This review is for the happy hour in the bar only, not the fancy sit down part of the restaurant).

The number one (1), most important, absolutely necessary fact to know before you enjoy happy hour at Fleming's is to get there early. The restaurant does not open until 5pm M-F and the seating in the bar is very limited and seat yourself, so get there before 5 and wait in the lobby (you will not be the only people doing this).

Fleming's happy hour breaks down like this:
-They offer 5 cocktails, 5 glasses of wine and 5 appetizers for $6 each. They also have a beer special offered.
    -Available until 7pm every night.
    -The selections change seasonally
-A separate bar menu is also available.

    My personal experiences:
The first time I went for happy hour here, I did not get there early and waited almost an hour for a seat in the bar. While waiting, a nice waitress took our drink orders and eased the anxious feeling of wanting to leave. After finally getting seats, the same waitress served us with impeccable care and even brought us four homemade Fleming's truffles for our trouble. (By this time, I was smitten with this happy hour anyway so this was a plus.)
Other  subsequent visits have always been delicious and worth returning for.

Great wine list, attentive service, very consistent and the folks in Livonia are really nice (been here multiple times).

One suggestion: PORCINI RUBBED FILET MIGNON. You're welcome.

This is where we typically take clients, and people are generally happy with the experience. The servers are always very attentive and knowledgeable, offering good suggestions for food and drink.

I nearly always get the filet, though I have been swayed a time or two. The sides are very good, especially the mac and cheese and asparagus. For appetizers, the wedge salad is a classic, and their French onion soup is to die for.

The wine selection is very good, too... and the foodie-wine-snobs I often go with always find something they love. Fleming's is a good choice when you're feeling spendy and in the mood for a steak.

We were here last month for father's day brunch because it was the only place with open seating without a reservation. We were promptly seated, which would have been a concern at a different restaurant, but not here. In addition to the standard menu, there was a special brunch prix fixe menu with some special fare for the day.

I have had many, many dishes at Fleming's so I can contest that most everything is quite good, but the dishes including risotto are quite nice. I am a sucker for a great risotto, and Fleming's is definitely palatable. The presentation on the dishes is also really nice. My father has slightly less-expensive tastes so he wasn't terribly satisfied with his meal, but my mother and I were. This is a steakhouse, so I'd certainly suggest an entrée with meat in it, but I think some of their meat/seafood dishes are their best.

We had a delicious chocolate cake dessert, which came with this HUGE bowl of homemade whipped cream. I swear it was the best whipped cream I've ever had. It was very good, and tasted as if it was incredibly fattening!

I give this restaurant 5 stars because they did a great job (though our waitress forgot one of the drinks), have complimentary valet parking, and gave us a $25 gift card for use in the next month! Everything was as to be expected, but they went above and beyond this past visit.

I was in town on business staying up the road in Southfield. I was tired of eating low end restaurants and wanted something more. I searched Yelp for local eateries and, knowing I wanted steak, found Flemings to be a good pick for the night.

I ordered the smaller filet which was I think an 8oz. The 10oz main filet was only a few dollars more, but I wasn't starving. I also got the garlic mashed potatoes. I sat at the bar and the bartender was more than helpful.

I got a glass of the Hess Cabernet. I am not a wine-o, but I like a glass of cab with steak. It was good.

I was brought bread and two spreads. The bread had a hard crust and a warm soft inside. The tomato-pesto spread was great. The other spread tasted like a garlic buttery spread and was also delicious.

I ordered the steak medium and it came to me medium rare. It was still good, just not my go-to temperature. It was much better than the steak I had from a restaurant nearby a few nights before. The garlic mashed potatoes were served with a helping of some garlic paste on top. I love garlic, so I loved these potatoes, naturally.

I did hear someone in a booth behind me complain about a one dollar difference between steaks and then ask how much a serving of Louis XVIII was. It was strange.

Everything I had was really good. I would go back.

This was our 3rd visit.  A few months ago, I signed up to get on their email list for exclusive offers.

We got an offer recently  that was a really good  deal.  I made the reservation online and when we arrived, we were seated right away.

Monica was our server and was very attentive and helpful.  The food was amazing and the ambiance was nice also.

It's only been 2 days, and my wife wants to go back already, lol.

    Definitely recommend.

Great food, great service, great selection of wines by the glass and bottle.

Cozy, dark setting.  This is perfect for date night with my fiancee.  We dine here 2-3 times a month and have never been disappointed.  I usually get the New York Strip cooked to a perfect medium rare every time.  We love this place!

Highly, highly recommended, you can't go wrong with Fleming's!

Amazing food.  It is pretty expensive, 2 people with drinks will probably run you around $100.

It's a little darker than I'd like, but the service and quality of food makes up for it.

Highly recommend if you have a special occasion.

I had a business meeting at Fleming's Livonia earlier this week. It was my first visit to Fleming's since an amazing experience at the Windy City location. I found the restaurant comfortable and cozy when I walked in. We were sat immediately and ordered wine while we waited for the remainder of our party to arrive. Our server was obviously knowledgeable of all the wines and seemed to have a pretty high opinion of everything on the menu and the wine list. I usually find this to mean that the restaurant is "actually that good" or that the server has been instructed to "love everything" they're asked about. In this case I felt it was more so the latter. I'm not much of a wine connoisseur but the selection was vast and I really enjoyed the Pinot I ordered before the appetizer came.

If you've read some of my reviews you know that I usually have my go-to staple dishes that I really enjoy. I use them as litmus tests to gauge the technique and finesse of a restaurant. Calamari is one of those dishes for me. It's somewhat simple and when made properly even with the most simple of ingredients can be utter perfection. I ordered their calamari which was lightly breaded, flash fried, tossed in a Asianesque chili sauce with mild pepper rings and red bell pepper slivers. The meat was a bit chewy but it  was tasty. I'd equate it to eating sweet and sour squid at a Chinese joint. The mild peppers were nice but kind of confusing as they usually indicate an Italian theme, still, it was 3 stars A-OK. For the entree I ordered the Porcini Rubbed Filet with great anticipation of a really wonderful steak. Our server brought out my steak on a plate that she warned me was too hot to touch but that my inner child had to touch anyways. It was really bloody hot!! When I cut into the first bite it was AMAZINGLY delicious and tender. At $37 for a steak and literally only 3 stalks of asparagus it had better taste AMAZINGLY delicious.

My gripe: I ordered the steak cooked medium. It came out medium/rare to rare and given that the plate was so hot it tells me that it may have been pulled early to rest while sitting in an expediting window under a lamp for a bit to finish cooking. My point is that at a "Prime Steak House" I expect it done right, the first time. I don't EVER send food back for obvious reasons. I've worked at restaurants and I've seen the movie "Waiting" - Art imitates life right?! Secondly, the gigantor stalks of asparagus should've been peeled and the woody ends trimmed off please.

I was slightly disappointed with the experience but I would try Fleming's again just not on my own dime. The steak's actual flavor profile was delicious though!! I'll be trying the porcini rub at home for sure.

I can not believe I am just now rating Fleming's!!

I have absolutely loved all of my experiences at Fleming's!! Our waiter, ironically, is always Michael and we absolutely adore him!! He is attentive, knowledgeable, and comical. He is just great!! Even when a party of eight were being loud and obnoxious, Michael sat us in a quiter area of the restaurant.

I love the ambiance of Fleming's!! It's romantically lit and the decor suits a steakhouse. I love how the kitchen is open and you can see the services being performed!!

When we go, we always seem to get the same thing; Me: Main Filet, and the NY Strip for the HUBS!! The steaks are really tender and juicy; we like our cooked at Medium Well temperature.. little pink.

The chocolate lava cake is absolutely divine!!! We love Fleming's!! It's not Morton's Steakhouse, but since we save a little money dining at Flemings, it's become our favorite steakhouse.

    :)

This steakhouse chain really has it going on.  They are able to create a high end ambiance in suburbia and offer high quality cuts on the menu.  All of the food was fantastic.  The tuna appetizer was a real highlight, perfectly seared so that the outside 1/4" was cooked and the rest of the inside was intensely pink in addition to a zesty wasabi sauce.

Very professional staff - they were accommodating when we mentioned that we didn't have a lot of time, but also never made the meal seem rushed.

Fleming's is on my short list when I'm craving a slab of the old dead red. All the steaks on the menu are of prime quality and are always cooked as requested (standard offerings are two sizes of filet mignon, boneless or bone-in ribeye, and NY strip) , and sides of all stripes are delicious. I'm also a fan of their garlicky Caesar, which always comes on a chilled salad plate - nice touch.  I never venture too far from steaks here (it is, after all, a steakhouse), but there are also lots of other meat and seafood options to choose from, as well as an extensive list of starters.

I was very surprised to find out that Fleming's is owned by the same company that brought us Outback Steakhouse, as it has much more in common with restaurants like No. VI Chop House and A2's The Chop House than with that Bloomin' Onion place. And unlike many chains, the menu changes with some regularity (on a visit this week, I was disappointed to find that the unfortunately-named Beef Flemington was no longer on the menu, only because the name always made me giggle). The fact that it's a corporate restaurant does seem to translate into consistency, as on a half-dozen or so visits the food has always been top-notch and every member of the staff from the valet on up has clearly been trained in making customers happy.

Fleming's isn't cheap. A steak will run you $32-$46, with everything else à la carte, and there are not a lot of bargains on the wine list. However, they do have a $40 prix fixe menu and some early-bird food and drink specials if you're looking to go a little easier on the wallet.

Oops! Reviewed the wrong location and had to move my review here!

This place served me the biggest filet I have ever seen in my life! It was also hands down the best steak I have ever eaten at a restaurant. My husband and I also ordered the french fry/onion ring combo to split with our dinner and it too was amazing! The staff was very attentive, I have to say, I felt very very well taken care of! Can't wait to go back!! I am thinking about making the hubs take me here for Mother's Day!

I needed to take a customer out for a nice dinner, and someone recommended Fleming's (the customer agreed, and I thought it would be a nice opportunity to compare it to my fav, J Alexanders).

Pretty much mandatory 'free' valet (unless you want to park way behind the restaurant and walk... which felt cheap when I was trying to impress someone).  Even during the week.  Once inside, well, it's nice.  You'll want to dress up a bit.  And bring lots of money.

We split an excellent bottle of Pinot Noir.  I wish I could remember the name because it was just delicious.  Shoot!  Ken and I don't order bottles of wine, so it was a fun treat to have our waiter pour the bottle into a decanter then fill our huge red wine glasses with two fingers of wine every 15 minutes or so.

I chose the Porcini Rubbed Filet Mignon (which came with a couple spears of grilled asparagus and a gorgonzola cream sauce) and the lettuce wedge salad.  I swear to you, this was the best filet I've ever had!  Gloriously red in the center, not a drop of blood on the plate (rested perfectly).  $37 a la carte (I wouldn't consider the asparagus a side).  Just delicious.  I love wedges, but I'd skip it next time for a warm side.

My guest went with the Prime Ribeye and two sides, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed French green beans with shitake mushrooms and porcini essence.  I didn't try her steak (although she offered), but we pretty much split the generous sides (about $10 each).  Both sides were top notch, and I would order both again when Ken and I visit Fleming's.

Very expensive meal, but the wine was 1/3rd of the total bill (so easily replaced with a single glass to savor).  I brought home half of my steak and a third of the potatoes and green beans - even reheated Ken thought they were delicious.

Just tried Fleming's for the first time last night. Food was incredible- perfectly cooked and seasoned. The chef clearly knows what he's doing.

It's reasonably priced ($110 for 2, which included a bottle of wine, appetizers, entrees and dessert). But they have a 5-6-7 Promo going on (5 wines, cocktail and appetizers, $6 each until 7pm every night)- great deal!!

The only reason I'd give it 3 stars was for the service. Every staff member we encountered was beyond rude. The hostesses, the manager, and especially the bartender (who was also our server for the night). It was to the point that we almost felt apologetic just for being there. Every request seemed to annoy the server- and I'm not talking about sending back the food here. I mean, adding an after dinner drink and dessert (aka increasing our check total and thus, her tip)!

I'd definitely go back... but only to get their food to-go!

This was our second visit to Fleming's. We decided to bring employees here for a celebratory dinner because we had experienced such fabulous service the first time. We arrived 20 minutes early and were told our table was ready, but we chose to wait in the bar for the rest of our party.

The bartender knew her stuff and let us taste some wines and champagne before deciding on our order. The ladies in the group tried a variety of the specialty martinis and liked all of them except the blueberry. It was very tart. By this time we were seated at our table and our waiter hadn't checked in with us for awhile, so I took the martini back to the bar and asked the bartender if she could sweeten it up. She did one better and dumped it out and brought over her own recipe that was sweeter than the Fleming's version.

Our waiter's personality was not what I was hoping for during this experience. He just wasn't as warm and friendly as our waitress the first time. But he was technically good, taking 6 orders without writing anything down. The only thing he didn't bring with the dinners were the requested sauces, but was back in an instant with them.

I would definitely come here again, as I really enjoy their food, but the dining room is noisy (even when not full) so probably not a place for an intimate dinner, or a large group if you want to hear the people across the table from you.

They nailed our visit.  Great food, great atmosphere.  Great value with the prix fixe deal I ordered: Corn Chowder, Beef "Flemington," and the best Key Lime pie I ever tasted.  The calamari appetizer was a breath of new coming with a spicy sauce.  The berry and lemon martini was superb, and I gobbled down the blueberries at the bottom of the sugar-rimmed glass.
We would definitely go back again, although it was very pricey.  The food was excellent!  The only downside was after dressing up, seeing the guy in the next booth in the Ed Hardy shirt.  Also, the manager usually comes by in a restaurant this fancy, right?  We never saw him but he visited others more important than us.

Have been there twice since they opened.
The steaks are top notch and the sides are very good but a little pricey for sides $10 / $12. Service was good but not exceptional. Second time there hostess was very rude. I'm sure I will return there again.  Expect to spend at least $120 for two not including wine or cocktails.

I'd like to take a moment to say how great Fleming's service and food were when I dined there.
I had an absolutely fabulous experience.
Nice atmosphere, the staffs are efficient and extremely friendly, and foods are amazing.
Fillet mignon was perfect medium-rare. Everything was so delicious... I run out of synonyms for the word "delicious'.
I'd definitely like to go back.

The dinner was for my SO 's birthday and I mentioned that when I had called for the reservation. The staff knew that information and gave us their congratulations with a box of truffles, which was very nice.

Man.. I just got home eating at this place,
Let me just say it is a dining experience... Very classy but friendly at the same time. Felt very comfortable but not too informal either. It was just very professional.
Every course was spot on, period. No if or buts.
The calamari was perfectly made without too much breading and very very flesh seafood.
NY strip was to die for. My god.. it was so good . You know a good steak is when you first bite into it.. and your tongue sensory goes overload.
and of course there is desert... what can I say.
REAL whip cream.. I literary wanted to lick the bowl that came with.

I don't know how to describe it. It was just a very good dinner to start off the weekend.
Please go at least once, it is an experience..

As a previous reviewer said, this particular Flemings location is tucked behind a Mitchell's Fish "Market", Bravo Cucina and Cheeburger Cheeburger.

    'Nuff said.

I have, unfortunately, been dragged kicking and screaming into this place three times by colleagues who not only lack originality when choosing locations for business dinners, but also seem to think this is the pinnacle of fine dining.

Sigh ... I suppose there really is no accounting for taste, literally or figuratively.

Everything about Flemings is mediocre and predictable. You've seen it a thousand times before in every manufactured "upscale" chain steak house. And maybe that's the way you like it: nice and predictable. Neither fantastic nor horrible. Just ... well ... mediocre.

Or maybe you go there for the un-necessary, frivolous and absurd valet parking that scoots your car around the side of the building, when you could just park yourself 50 feet away and walk to something for a change.

But when you consider that Flemings is operated by the same culinary mavericks that brought you Outback and Carrabas, I suppose you need to put a lot of lipstick on that pig to get people to feel like they are dining at someplace special.

I will say that one thing that Flemings cannot seem to do consistently is cook a filet to order. The last time I found myself shanghaied here, I ordered my filet medium rare and it came out well-done. This was not the first time this has happened, unfortunately. And it's unconscionable for any steakhouse to not get this fundamental down right. You're a steakhouse after all. It's what you claim to do. Your business depends on it.

To be fair, aside from the poorly prepared steaks, the sides are competently done. But then again, it's the usual steakhouse fare, so if you botch basic dishes like mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, or creamed spinach, you have a much bigger issue on your hands.

Chilled seafood tower creates "oohs" and "ahhs" when it comes out. Again, the seafood isn't bad, it's just not great. But that tower sure does create spectacle. Just like the valet parking. More lipstick.

I do think it's curious that reviewers have said this is a good place for kids.

    It's not.

While I'm being a little tough on Flemings because it's a chain (and by now, people should know I have a bias toward independent, local restaurants), Flemings is still a fairly pricey restaurant and at least tries to put on a little chi chi.

This is NOT an appropriate restaurant to be dragging the kids into (depending on their age, obviously.)  Yes, the style of dining here is conducive to groups, but it's best to use some common sense when it comes to the age of the family and kids you bring in.

There is a Applebees across the street if you want to bring the five year old. You will feel more comfortable there, and your fellow diners at Flemings will at least be able to enjoy their mediocre, but pricey, meal without having to watch Jr. smear creamed spinach on little Suzie's face.

    Done with my rant.

If you really want to experience good steak, my recommendation would be to seek out one of the many locally-owned steakhouses and patronize them instead. The price will likely not be much higher, but the overall value that you get will be. You'll also experience a more original menu, with some pleasant surprises. And you can feel good that you are supporting local businesses who don't have 1/100th of the marketing budget of the OSI Restaurant Group.

In Plymouth, La Bistecca for an Italian twist on steak. In Birmingham, I would recommend Camerons or Big Rock. In Detroit, Bourbon Steak or Roast. The Capital Grille is always a great choice as well, and in Ann Arbor, you'd be better served by The Chophouse.

All of these places have their fans and detractors, but even on their worst night, they are typically better than Flemings. Maybe less predictable, maybe a tad bit more expensive, but worth it.

I'm not providing my usual attire and fashion advice for Flemings, because I'm not recommending that you dine there. However, I will say that I've typically worn business suits there and was fine.

I definitely wouldn't break out the couture. Save that for someplace truly special. And Flemings isn't it.

Hey buddy! What's going on? Happy birthday. Thanks! It's my turn..Anyplace is good!

OK, so my best buddy from high school and college gives me a call. Yes, it's my birthday. OK, every six months Kenny and I get together on each others birthday to make sure we stay in touch. He buys mine on my birthday  then I return it on his. We have been doing this now for about ten years, or twenty dinners. We have never gone to the same place twice. This was our last one..

This restaurant is an extremely great, high quality steak place. This is top of the line, prime.

    Dinner: TUSCAN VEAL CHOP
lightly breaded, roma tomatoes, basil - Absolutely perfect! Outstanding! Mild taste not too heavy of a breading to hide any taste. Tomatos and basil tasted fresh. 5 stars
    FLEMING'S SALAD
seasonal greens, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, tomatoes and croutons with a light viniagrette dressing.- Outstanding!
    Dessert:
    CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE
Rich chocolate cake with a molten chocolate center, served with vanilla ice cream and chopped pistachios - Melt in your mouth, moist - I had to force this down, but....sooooo goood!
    Service:
    Outstanding! Just outstanding.

This restaurant is worth the higher price..I will go here, even if I am paying. This would be a great date place. The lighting is kinda low, candles on table...glass of wine..

Oh and the wine selection is outstanding...You name it, they have it.

OK, Kenny set the bar high. I was thinking about meeting him at a slider joint for his birthday, damn....
