Review for Happy Hour in the bar.
Met a friend here on a Monday night for happy hour. The bartenders were very friendly and helped us choose drinks and brought us yummy fresh potato chips to enjoy. The wine list was on tablets/iPads that were sitting on the bar but I decided to go with something different. I started one of their low-calorie cocktails, Shades of Rose', Â with sparkling wine and elderflower liquor. Yum-City and only 99 calories.
After drinking and snacking on chips we moved on to the special happy hour menu. This menu has deals only available during happy hour in the bar area. There are many good selections including shrimp, calamari, pork belly, etc. We settled on the Baked Brie ($6) and BBQ shrimp ($6) from the special menu. There is also a burger (also $6) on the menu that everyone around us seemed to order and it looked amazing. We later added a Filet Mignon Flatbread (regular price). I was very impressed with our food selections. They were not skimpy on size or flavor. I think the flatbread may have been my favorite with chunks of filet, blue and monterey jack cheeses, and sautéed onions. All the food items we ordered up to this point are only available in the bar.
For dessert we shared a Chocolate Lava Cake. The bartender was key in getting this to us since it takes a while. She noted when we were getting close to being done with our food and took care of ordering up our lava cake. Win. How can you really go wrong with lava cake and ice cream? Fleming's certainly doesn't. It was delish.
The atmosphere was very nice and welcoming. Groups and singles sitting up at the bar. It was not stuffy or pretentious.
I look forward to going back for another fun and well priced happy hour!
My family ate here after going to Yankees Spring Training game for dinner. We ate in the bar area and it is huge! We frequent our local Fleming's in Ca that have small bar seating. Our food, service and drinks were excellent! Just what you expect it to be! My husband met Buster Olney here and so our night was definitely a great one!
Review Source:***For their Small Plates Big Pours Menu***
Upon arrival, we were told all about the delicious items we'd be sampling. We were also presented with Fleming's own WiNEPADâ„¢. This nifty program was designed by Fleming's national wine director in an effort to assist guests with their wine selections. An iPad full of tasting notes, pairings, and other cool functions, the program takes the headache out of wine ordering. Unfortunately it didn't help with the headache I incurred from too much indulging that night.
At last, some scrumptious fare was presented to the table. Before Fleming's brought out our small plates and big pour pairings, they treated us to their Heirloom and Homemade Burrata Salad. The fresh and creamy mozzarella cheese was topped off with Lemon Pistachio vinaigrette and came alongside crispy crostini, juicy grape tomatoes, and wild arugula. The flavor diversity was flawless.
Next to my salivating mouth was the Lobster Tempura. Yes, you read correctly. As if lobster wasn't divine enough on it's own, Fleming's deep fries the sea creature in a tempura batter and serves it alongside a creamy ginger soy concoction. Beyond luscious, I could've devoured three plates of it. I'm not kidding. To ease the artery clogging richness, the lobster is served with a refreshing Jicama slaw. Wash it all down with a 9-ounce glass of Chardonnay (Fransiscan Estate) and you've got a winner, winner, lobster dinner.
After hearing my friend, Megan rave about the Ahi Tuna small plate, I wanted "in." Her "ohhs and ahhs" were understandable. The sushi-grade Ahi was rubbed in a delicious blend of spices and immaculately seared rare. Served with a fresh vegetable salad and paired with Pinot Noir (A to Z Wineworks), it was both healthy and absolutely delectable.

Very nicely decorated on purpose... they want you to know you're going to spend some money. The food and service are good but not great for the price. I don't mind spending money but take a place like Burns... it has next level steaks and almost perfect service at about the same price range. I expected far more.
Review Source:Been wanting to try this place for a while, we love berns and Charley's! We made a reservation, got there 10 min early, got seated right away. They give you a wine menu on an iPad, a lot of different wines to choose from.
Started with the bread (it was ok, served with two spreads) and the house salad. Got the filet in 6 oz, came with a side (scope) of potatoes, we got the Mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and creamed corn as sides, all delicious. The steak was good. Ended the night with some creme brûlée (creamy and delicious).
Tip: You can pick up 100 dollar gift card for 80 dollars at costco.
Overall, the dinner was enjoyable, waitress was friendly, food was good. I would come back again, however I do prefer Bern's steakhouse (where you get the salad, soup and sides with your steak, and the dessert room, need to say more? ;) )
I love Fleming's. Before this visit it had been years since I've been to one. I went to a sampling event. We were trying out the Small Plate Big Pours menu. Wow! There are seven different dishes on the this particular menu. A little bit of everything and definitely something for everyone. I ordered the Colossal Shrimp. It was awesome! They paired it with a Pinot Gris that went perfect. I also tried some of the filet. It literally melted in my mouth.
The service was great. The waitress was very attentive. She also was very knowledgeable about the food. Then came dessert. Holy Moly! I had carrot cake. The piece was HUGE! It was absolutely divine. They make it in house. I can't stop thinking about.
They have a new Wine Pad. It's a special wine app for the iPad. Each location has 30 of them. Fleming's is known for having over 100 wines by the glass. This app makes it so easy to choose a wine. It tells you everything you want to know. So much fun!
I drove past flemmings many times going to and from work and just being in the area and never stopped in. Â It only really caught my eye after I found out about their 5 for $6 until 7 PM bar menu specials. Â I've never eaten in the main dining area only the Bar area, which in my opinion is nicer than most restaurants are. Â The ambiance was very decent, seats were comfortable and the atmosphere very laid back and private. Â quiet enough for you to hear yourself speak but enough background noise that you don't have to worry about everyone hearing you speak. It is even kid friendly if you have a kid over 4 or 5 that maybe just needs a booster. Â Now on to the food. Â I normally come here for the 5 for $6 until 7 menu which consists of several appetizers that are all exquisite in my opinion as well as some drinks(I don't drink) . Â My favorites being the Tenderloin Carpaccio(which according to the menu is only 100 calories) and the Sweet Chile Calamari. Â Let me tell you something else Tampa Bay. Â THE PRIME BURGER IS THE BEST BURGER FOR $6 YOU WILL FIND IN TAMPA BAY. Please don't take that as an empty compliment, next time you're in the area go in there before 7 PM and buy the prime burger, seriously do it! you won't be disappointed. First off it's a half pound burger patty with bacon, fresh cheese on a nice bun with fries or onion rings along with tomato and lettuce. Â An extremely generous portion(if your appetite is small you can split it with someone) where as "high end" burger joints like burgermonger and burger 21 charge you close to 7 bucks for an even smaller burger by itself and then upcharge you for fries. Â At any other sit down restaurant you would expect to pay 9.95 or more for a burger of this size but at flemings it's just $6. The other 5 for $6 menu items are also pretty good although a little on the small side(except the flatbread, that is a decent size). Â No complaints here though, the food is cooked well and the service is just as great. Â I can see why this restaurant has 4/5 stars. If you are single, married or maybe even just dating someone, need to be a little frugal and don't want to break your pockets going out on a nice dinner date this is definitely a place to go. Â Years and years ago I was like many folks flocking to red lobster, olive garden and the other run of teh mill places on special occasions and leave spending close to 100 bucks or more on just a dinner for two. Â My wife and I went here for my birthday spent less than 40 bucks AND I got a box of free truffles and a $25 dollar gift card after mentioning the special occasion to my waittress. Â If you're having an anniversary or birthday, make sure to mention it and they will give you a box of complimentary chocolate truffles. Great service and great food.
Review Source:We are on their VIP list and had the filet and Maine lobster. Â Generally, Florida restaurants serve Caribbean lobster, but this was the real deal. Â Tender and delectable. Â Selected wines for future reference from their iPad list and sent labels and information via e-mail to my inbox using their app. Â The only drawback is the noise level. Â If you are looking for intimate dining and quiet conversation, this is not the place. Â Always order the lava chocolate dessert with ice cream and real whipped cream. Â Been working out diligently at the gym ever since.
Review Source:Dined at Fleming's for the first time last night and had a wonderful time.
We had made a reservation and had no problems being seated as soon as we arrived. The atmosphere was inviting and warm without being uncomfortable or snooty.
Their menu is mostly à la carte, and so things can get a bit pricey but they do have some specials and it is worth it from time to time to treat yourself, if you can.
We did not order any appetizers, but by husband and I each ordered a salad to start. I opted for the wedge, and it was great! Sometimes I am disappointed by a wedge salad at a steakhouse, however Fleming's was top notch with not only blue cheese crumbles but also a generous chunk as well; caramelized onions and a big piece of crispy bacon. I'd go back just for a wedge salad, please and thank you. Husband had a Caesar salad and said it was good as well.
For dinner, I ordered their special: 6oz filet over mashed potatoes topped with a crab cake and asparagus. I didn't order an additional side because well, that was plenty! I will be honest and say I have had more flavorful of filet at other restaurants, but it was not bad. The crab cake was honestly the best crab cake I have ever had. Filled with generous amounts of crab, I hate when you get a crab cake and its more filler than crab; this was NOT the case at Fleming's. I was more than satisfied and my tummy was in a gluttonous coma.
Husband had the NY Strip with a side of french green beans. His steak {which I naturally had a bite of!} was very, very flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium. His green beans were under-cooked, but when the manager walked by, he did mention that and within MINUTES, a new side was presented and he said they were perfect. So they took care of us right away, even for something as simple as green beans.
We did split a ginormous piece of carrot cake afterwards, that was good. Not the best thing ever, but we didn't go for dessert, we went for steak.
We left, bey-ond full, happy and satisfied. Well done, Fleming's. We will definitely be back.
I love this place, but the seafood appetizer tower for two was disappointing. Don't get me wrong; this is a great place to hang out. Yet after an eye full of the costly seafood tower I was left...well....freaking hungry! The best part is that we had taken advantage of an online special that boasts a surf n turf for $40 (see Mark H. review). Â The surf n turf was good but if you want a tower of seafood; go to Salt Rock Grill. Good food doesn't have to cost alot and stars don't grow on trees people!
Review Source:My man got the deal of the century with a perfectly cooked filet, and buttery lobster tail with soup or salad for 37.95, but I'm a fool in love with seafood for ordering the Seafood Tower at 25.00 a person. It doesn't compare in size, or value with Salt Rock's towers. Drats! Foiled again!
Review Source:Just went back to Flemings for the first time in a few years last night. Â I wanted to do a comparison between here and my experience at Bern's a few weeks ago. Â We got the online reservation deal that includes a petit filet, lobster tail and French onion soup (or salad) for $37.95. Â You really can't go wrong with this deal, and bang-for-your-buck, it blows Bern's away. Â The lobster was great and the filet was cooked exactly as ordered. Â As for the flavor comparison, there really is none. Â I'm convinced no one can cook up a steak like Bern's, but that's not to say Fleming's isn't a meaty force to be reckoned with. Â I think for the price, I'd opt to revisit Fleming's over Bern's any day. Â And considering this is a chain, I think it says a lot about how damn good the food is.
Service and pace of food arrival was on point, as with me previous visit. Â 4.5 stars!
We've had dinner at this Fleming's before, but on this visit the noise level (on a very busy Saturday night) was WAY higher than we remembered. This was beyond energetic. It wasn't easy to talk.
As to the steak, I still prefer the sizzling Ruth's Chris steak, but I have to admit Fleming's product is pretty good. My New York Strip was huge and cooked to my order, as was my son's. The only complaint we had about the steak was my wife's Steak au Poivre, which was rather thin and not really worth the $42 price tag.
We enjoyed the calamari appetizer. The sides (mushrooms, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and something else, I forget) were fine but unremarkable. I do think the side dishes are a weakness of Fleming's.
With a cocktail each, an inexpensive bottle of wine, one shared appetizer, three entrees and four sides, plus a couple of after-dinner coffees, with tip and tax our meal came to around $350 -- is this American excess or what?
Fleming's is great, but I am a tough critic and reserve 5 stars for only the very very best. Â This would technically fall in the 4.5 star area, but such is Yelp life. Â
The iPad wine menu certainly impressed the guests. Â However, being that we're all in digital media we started seeing if we could get out of the app and play some angry birds or something. Â We didn't try too hard, though :). Â
Steaks are always great. Â Great wine list, and darn great desserts. Â Can't go wrong.
Sadly, after many excellent meals and experiences here, things seem to have gone downhill. Â They have really increased their prices to a level which makes coming here prohibitively expensive. Â The food, which was always excellent, seems to have moved the other way, with improper cooking of both of our steaks, and less flavorful sides. Â Don't see coming back here anytime soon unfortunately.
Review Source:First things first - if you want a good laugh take a few minutes out to read some of the negative reviews of this place. I won't call anyone out specifically, but you'll know when you get to the ones I'm talking about. Funny stuff.
Also, if you looove Bern's and nothing compares for you...well, maybe you should go there.
But anyway - we had a great dinner at Fleming's. I'd planned to get the filet until our server mentioned the sea bass, which wasn't on the menu. Since the boyfriend was getting a steak I knew I could snatch a few bites from him, so I jumped on the sea bass and I'm so glad I did. Â It was perfectly cooked - so buttery and delicate and delicious like sea bass should be. Â It was sitting on top of perfectly sauteed spinach and a few too many red onions, but nothing offensive.
The boyfriend's filet was delicious and perfectly cooked medium-rare. We ordered the Fleming's potatoes, which we both found to be delicious, but skipped the mac n cheese (we were so torn between the two) because we didn't want two carb-y sides.
We have a Fleming's in Atlanta, but neither of us had been there before. Â I have a feeling we'll visit sometime soon.
My ONLY complaint is that the bread at the beginning of the meal was at least 2 days old, microwaved time and again over the two days and seriously the hardest thing I"ve ever seen. Â It would be great for building a house, but not so great to eat. Â In the end we didn't complain because a) we aren't really whiny people and b) we both love bread so we probably would have eaten every single bit of it had it been fresh!
Literally - I just returned from Fleming's, and felt I needed to write a review. Mind you I am not a steak person, but my fiance loves it. Not going to lie, being newbies our bill rang up to over $150, before tip!
I ordered the lobster tails with Caesar salad, and my fiance ordered the Prime Rib Eye with mushrooms side. Two large lobster tails came out cooked to perfection, my fiances steak came out - I knew as soon as he cut it, took a bite, and did not ask for steak sauce something was different about this steak. Me, not being a steak eater ever, had to try a bite. It was definitely the best steak I have ever eaten, I definitely will be going back - to get my own steak next time!
The staff was amazing, everyone was so friendly. I even had someone that came over, and asked to cut my lobster meat out of the tail for me. Very nice place, but your bill will definitely add up. Although, probably the best meal I have ever eaten!
After flying in to Tampa to visit family I was whisked away and taken to Fleming's, It has the outside of an Olive Garden but a lovely interior with a friendly but intimate setting but I feel they could have done more with the interior space. . Definitely dress up, definitely come with an empty stomach, and most definitely (unless someone is paying for you) come with money in the bank. Service was impeccable (and cute I might add), quick, friendly, knowledgeable, organized, put-together, smooth, I mean I could go on and on about how great the service really was, and that's probably what has people coming back consistently. We were in a party of five with reservations made, we showed up early and sat for some drinks, which they have quite a large selection of (but not as good as Bern's of course). We ordered a few appetizers which included the calamari, it came out perfectly breaded and golden brown.
After being seated, we got our bread and butter baskets, two choices of butter both very yummy to hold you over. I split lobster and a filet mignon along with some asparagus spears, I haven't eaten meat in a while, but I went for it this time and it was worth it, all of it was cooked perfectly and just delicious. From the asparagus to the service it was just superb and I understand now why people rave about it.
Go fi you can, drool over the menu and pictures if you can't.
Fleming's is one of my top dining destinations in Tampa and the last four visits have been stellar. Just this week I met my friend Judy for dinner and we ordered off their new "Savor & Sip" menu which offers a choice of Porcini Rubbed Filet Mignon or a classic Peppercorn New York Strip plus an over-sized glass of one of their "Big Pours" which are  incredible wines hand selected by their director of wine. This special menu is available for the month of January.
We started off with two appetizers, Tenderloin Carpaccio and Seared Ahi Tuna. Topped with caper creole mustard sauce and red onion, the Tenderloin Carpaccio was sensational. As usual, the seared Ahi was fresh and flavorful. Next we each had a salad. Judy had a Caesar and I had their Housemade Burrata with tomato & roasted beet, arugula and pistachio-lemon balsamic vinaigrette. INCREDIBLE! Fleming's has the best Burrata and I am so in love with it I have to have it on each visit. For our main course, we  ordered one of each steak so we could sample both. Topped with Gorgonzola cream sauce, the Porcini Rubbed Filet Mignon was tender and just melted in my mouth. Finished with Porcini mushroom dust, this was one of the best steaks I have had at Fleming's. The Peppercorn Steak is a NY Strip topped with black and white peppercorns and has a nice bit of spice. I took the leftovers home and they were delicious for lunch the next day.
I adore Fleming's, their flawless service and their delectable dishes.
Looking for cheap bar food? You found it for their happy hour. From the time they open at 4:30 til 7:00 they offer a great menu at a huge discount! My girlfriend and I ate a burger that melted in your mouth $6, mushroom ravioli that was mouth watering, $6. Martini, wine, etc all for $6!! I never tried their $45+ steaks since we only had a $100 gift card from her boss, but I think we had a great time rubbing noses with the elite and wealthy Tampa residents for the evening... Will I be back - only if someone wants to send us a gift card!! Hint hint
Review Source:Easily and always in the top 3 rated in SRQ. Â This gets the "Full Moon Promotions Stamp of Approval" on several levels. Â
Valet upon arrival, Dean D. in his suit greeting you at the door, dimly lit as you walk into the inviting bar & dining amkes you feel & know you are in a classy location. Â Along the length of the dining area is a semi open kitchen area to see the final preparations of your meal being created. Â
Damian, Jeff & Steve behind the bar are fantastic. Â Daily Happy Hour 'til 7 have some SUPER tasty choices.... White Cosmo to start, Burger w/ Onion Rings, Beef carpaccio, Mushroom Stuffed Ravioli, etc.
What an amazon experience. Â From the moment you walk in you can see that this is a top notch place. Â A great place to enjoy a cocktail with friends in the bar area prior to sitting at your table. Â Great atmosphere for sure. Â
Now on to the food. Â
The Prime New York Strip was superb. Cook perfectly, tender, and flavorful. Â I team it up with their Maine lobster tail and it was a meal fit for a king. Â Although I am not royalty, I felt like I was a king for a day. Â
The side dishes we ordered were large enough to share. Â We ordered their famous Mac and Cheese, as well as, the Flemings potatoes. Â
If you like home style creamy Mac and cheese than this is right up your ally. Â The potatoes were like a cross between mashed and scalloped. Â They too were scrumptious. Â
The food portions were large. Â The presentation was good and the flavors delightful. Â
I give this a 5 star rating and would strongly recommend this restaurant to even the most critical of foodies. Â
:)
Do I really need to comment on the superior quality of the food or the top-notch service here? Some names stand for certain elements and Flemming's stands above the rest. Instead, I shall offer you a bit of creativity. I know mom told me to stop playing with my food but when you have all the right parts sometimes a masterpiece evolves.
Here's what you'll need:
Peppercorn NY Strip Loin
Sautéed Onions
A loaf of the awesome bread
Chipotle Cheddar Mac n' Cheese
Cut thin slices of the NY strip (always against the grain). Cut a pouch into the bread loaf. Apply a thin layer of the cheese from the Chipotle Mac. Insert onions and steak slices. Enjoy
:(
I wasn't wowed by Flemings-for the price. For nearly $200, we left underwhelmed. Yes it's good, but not phenomenal. For $200 I'd eater go to Capital Grill.
I opted for soup tonight instead of a salad. The French onion was salty and oily.  My fiancé ordered the Cesar and honestly it's the same as the serve at Outback, but at a steep $10.
Our steaks were good, but nothing killer.
For one of our sides, we ordered the mushrooms. For $10 I was expecting a little bit more than just button mushrooms sautéed in some garlic butter. They could have thrown in some porcini s or more earthy mushrooms. I guess I was hoping for something like BLT Steak's.
The molten chocolate lava cake is rich, dense and worth the $10.
They have started a new iPad ordering system for their wine. My fiancé ordered a glass of red and at $12 a glass, it was a great value.
All in all, Flemings is good, but I don't feel it's at the top of the food chain when it comes to the upscale steakhouses in the city.
I'd rather go to Capital Grill or Council Oak for a nice dinner.
We ate here with friends recently after seeing a show at Ruth Eckerd Hall. The restaurant was easy to find after a helpful receptionist gave us directions over the phone. The decor in the restaurant is very nice...modern with low light, but not so low that you feel like you are in a night club. We were there on a Saturday night it was not overly crowded.
I had a wedge salad to start and I was not really impressed. It was just run-of-the-mill in my opinion. For my entree I ordered the filet mignon skewers small plate and these were very good. I loved the gorgonzola fondue that came with it. The sweet tomato and mozzarella salad on the side was also good (should have just skipped the wedge in favor of this). I also got the Fleming's potatoes as a side dish. I liked them, but was disappointed given the hype in the other reviews. I thought they didn't have much of a bite from the jalapeno and my husband complained that he thought the potatoes seemed undercooked. He got the filet medallions on risotto and thought that was pretty good but not awesome (just nothing special) and the chipotle mac and cheese side dish which again did not live up to the hype.
We had an enjoyable evening and nothing was terrible, but we were kind of expecting more given all the outstanding reviews and the high prices. If we return we'll try to hit up happy hour with the special pricing.
I had the opportunity to attend the Battle of the Hemispheres wine event thanks to my friend Tracy G and, being that this was my first trip to Fleming's, I was so excited!
At the bar, we got to sit with Judi Gallagher, a stunning woman who knows her food and is one of the most warm and welcoming people I've ever met. Judy treated us to many dishes in the booth we all squeezed into like one big happy family. We tried swedish meatballs (my first time trying in 24 years!), 2 different flatbreads, housemade burrata (charred grape tomatoes, wild arugula, served with toasted garlic crostinis), fried shrimp, tempura fried vegetables, and more, I'm sure...it all went down so fast there was no time for notes.
Fleming's is not cheap, but it's well worth the cost. The feel of Fleming's is elegant, but not stuffy. I got the vibe that you don't have to really dress up all that much to go there for an evening out.
I am a big fan of Happy Hour dining. I love sitting at the bar with my girlfriends, drinking  half off martini's or wine while eating cheap bites. What I dislike about Happy Hour is that I always feel rushed to order by a certain time.
When Fleming's Steakhouse introduced their Bar la Carte menu, I knew my Happy Hour dilemma was solved. It's the freedom of dining at the bar, at your own pace. 7 menu selections that are generous enough to share at a low price. While they still offer the 5 for $6 til 7:00 menu, this is a great option for those who want to dine at Flemings Bar and aren't able to make it to Happy Hour.
Off the menu, my favorite item was the Housemade Burrata with charred grape tomatoes, wild arugula, served with toasted garlic crostinis. It was perfect cheesey deliciousness.
One item that took me by surprise was Prime Steakhouse Meatballs. While I was expecting a really good meatball, I didn't foresee a Swedish Meatball. My Great Grandpa was off the boat 100% Swedish. Every holiday, my Nanny would make her famous Swedish Meatballs. As I got older, I was allowed to help her make the meatballs. Nowadays, I can recreate them but they will never be as good as hers were. When I popped one of these bad boys in my mouth, I felt a sense of nostalgia that nearly brought me to tears.
The Salt & Pepper Shrimp with crispy french green beans were excellent. Missing from the description is the circular item you are about to consume is actually a fried lemon wheel. I will be frying lemons from now on. Amazing!
I'm a flatbread kind of gal - so when I saw the Filet Mignon Flatbread, I knew I had a new friend. Mixed with Danish Blue cheese and Monterrey Jack cheese, how could you go wrong? Flemings also has a cedar roasted mushroom and artichoke flatbread with Monterrey jack cheese, roasted red peppers and Christopher Ranch garlic. It was insanely good and vegie friendly.
Unbelievable! I walked in at 9:40 and they close at 10 and asked the bartender if I could still order. I got the most positive and welcome you could ever expect. Then the whole team came by to welcome me. A cold Stella and a wedge salad that was absolutely perfect. By the time the second Stella arrived the piping hot short ribs arrived and fell off the bone as I only needed my fork. It was a great meal late at night but I have to go back to the service.
I am a Flemings fan, but have encountered an occasional hiccup in service...but not this team. The manager, Heidi came by and introduced herself and came back to present her card. Courtney and the bar team were at the top of their game. You could film service videos with this team.
Let me end with the same superlative....UNBELIEVABLE!
The food at Fleming's is INCREDIBLE! Â The steaks are delicious and the side dishes are huge. Â They have this chocolate lava cake thing that is the most naughty thing I have ever tasted! Â I don't even like cake, but this dessert is like eating a gooey, chocolate brownie.
The one thing that did not impress me about Fleming's was the atmosphere. Â The restaurant has a bit of a sports bar feel to it which is fine if I am eating a plate of hot wings; however, if I am getting dressed up for a $200 dinner I want a romantic setting!
I know people will be surprised to see a two star review, especially considering that nothing about our experience was terrible, but hear me out.
My wife and I went for a nice night out. We ordered two steaks, 1 salad, and 1 side, which did fill us up. It also ran us over $100. Which, again, would be fine, except that I've certainly had better food for less.
The steaks are aged, which I always prefer, but my peppercorn crusted NY strip and my wife's filet mignon with some sort of sauce were very much overpowered by the additions. I tasted peppercorn only. The steak merely added texture, not flavor. Same story with my wife's meal. And for $100, I would really like to taste a nice steak. The green beans were my favorite part of the meal. Nice flavor with the mushrooms added in there. Fleming's Potatoes (basically an au gratin) was pretty decent, but no worth the $8.50 they cost.
Service is fine, if not a little confusing (I think we had one waiter, with 2 supporting waiters. Who do I give my order to?). Atmosphere is nice. It feels like its trying to be a Palm.
In the end, this experience is much over priced. Our $103 meal (before tip) should have been a $70-80 meal for two.
Go to Burns. The experience, service, and quality of food are 10 times better and probably a little cheaper.
Failed.
Came in, asked to be seated at a booth.
She sets us up at a booth in the bar area.
(sitting.. waiting...still waiting)
SANDY: "I feel like we're being ignored"
bartender/server (all the bartenders take care of you if you are seated in the bar area) finally comes over and gets our drink order..(waiting)..finally someone comes by to take the order, by now we know what we're having for appetizers and for dinner... finally we get a bread basket.. then the appetizers comes out......
ME: "can we have some silverware?"
appetizers was not that great....the half and half.. they didn't let some of the oil drain off the fried stuff and the shoestrings weren't even crispy, and the tenderloin was just okay...they cleared away the appetizers once we were done with it..
(sitting...waiting...still waiting)
bartender/server comes over.. asked if we'll like to have dessert.
ME: "No, we're still waiting for our food"
bartender/server grabs the dessert menu to open and show us the list of dessert
ME: "our food hasn't come out yet"
bartender/server takes off
same bartender/server comes back  and says "I had not idea where you guys were in your meal"..
(I'm thinking.....uhh..isn't it your job to know??)
they set us up for our meal
(sitting..waiting..still waiting)..
our meal finally comes out..
steak was a little undercooked but otherwise good..salmon was also good..however, both were a little on the salty side.
so no one came to check on us until after we finished our meal
ME: "can you please have my creamy spinach removed from my receipt since it was never brought out?"
same server: "your side was never brought out? Would you like me to just cancel it now then since you're done?"
ME: "yes, please and can I get the check also"
It was a big fat failed attempt. I went to fleming's wanting a better dining experience then my typical norm and left thinking like "I spent 120 for this? and that I should have went to the restaurants nearby." I don't know about you guys, but the higher the price is for the items on the menu, the higher my expectation is for the service. For me a "better dinning experience" reflects atmosphere, service, and quality of food.. once the service hits rock bottom though, it's hard to be pleased with everything else.
I don't recommend seating arrangement in the bar area unless you're going to be seated at the bar itself...the food is good enough..but i don't think i'll come back since I had a bad experience and the food didn't really "wowed" me.
I went here with my in-laws for Father's day (our treat). It's obviously a dress up occasion and has a warm, dim, nice interior. My only thing would be that it was actually quite noisy when we were there and there weren't that many tables full.
The salad was delicious. I had a wedge salad that was crisp and refreshing. Now I'm craving one, great!
My husband had corn chowder soup that was delicious and creamy.
They give you amazing rosemary bread with two types of butter. I believe one was a rosemary one and the other a cheese one. They were both very good. One was just a bit creamier than the other so I favored it!
The sides come family style. They do warn you about that when you order, but I was the only one who hadn't been there, so the rest of the party knew that already. We ordered Flemings potatoes...which are amazingly delicious au gratin type potatoes. They were so good I had to stop myself from inhaling them.
We also got the chipotle mac and cheese. It was creamy and delicious (I'm using that word too much, I know), with a slight kick.
My mother-in-law ordered a plain baked potato for my sister-in-law (she's only 4) and the thing was a monster!
They don't have a kids menu, but they will tell you that they have some things that are kid friendly, like chicken strips. They also brought out a small plate of cheese and apples for my sister-in-law to eat while we were eating our salads.
As a born and raised Kansas City girl, I ordered a steak. It was a 6 oz sirloin and I ordered it medium. It came out perfectly cooked and juicy and delicious.
We were all already starting to fill up entirely too much, but they had experienced, and I knew about, Flemings' molten lava cake. You have to order it while you are eating because it takes awhile, and we most definitely ordered one for each of us.
Let me tell you...go there for this cake ALONE! Holy cow, it was heaven in my mouth. It comes out with powdered sugar dusted on the top and a few raspberries hanging out on top as well. Two scoops of delicious ice cream sitting on some sort of high end fortune cookie like boat creation...I know, great description, right? But seriously...delicious. i couldn't stop eating.
So bottom like, the food is amazing...you'll walk out feeling like crude from the massive amount of delicious food you ate, but for special occasions you can handle it! :P
Dined here with a business occasion with 4 others. This location has a great vibe, nice atmosphere.
Some excellent Happy Hour deals on wine and appetizers. The bar was very crowded but a comfortable upscale crowd.
The group indulged in different types of steak and we had Potatoes Fleming and creamed spinach for the table. Several had what turned out to be delicious salads. The house and Wedge went over big.
Service was spectacular! The wine superb.
Big tab for this crowd. Lucky I dodged the tab on this one. This is a great event/business venue restaurant.
Excellent corporate expense account price/value relationship. It always helps promote your business and keeps you clients happy and stuffed.
By far the best Steak House in Tampa........we have been coming here for years. The new 5 For 6 til 7 is a fabulous deal and they just added a 8oz burger that is delicious along with the onion rings!!!! If you are having dinner there isn't anything on this menu I wouldn't suggest but their seasoning's on their Filet just makes it a step above the rest.
Get to the bar at 5 if you want a seat as it has become quite the popular spot especially for Happy Hour. The staff is very attentive and always smiling. Keith the manager is WONDERFUL as are the ladies at the front when you arrive.
Can't wait to go back:-)
