Great place for a beer and a game of pool. Too loud sometimes. Priority given to football meatheads. Too often I've had to go ASK for a beer. Remember that Thunder Canyon is right next door--much quieter and a local brew pub.

I am sure back in the day it was a nice cool place.  It is not too bad just very very dated.  Most of the TVs seem old.  Service is not bad.  Food is ok.

I'm updating with 2 added stars for the mere fact that they know how to service large....and I mean LARGE crowds of people.  I went early to grab a seat for the Sweet 16 UofA game, followed by IU and the place was PACKED!!! Literally.  Standing room only!  Even the patio furniture had been brought in from outside by patrons using them at pool tables.

Regardless of the amount of drunk people and not being able to walk through crowds to serve people, the servers remained calm and friendly and for the most part were able to serve us when we requested.

So good job Fox and Hound.  I brought up up a few!

Great place to hangout! The service here are very friendly and talkative, they have handfuls of attractive staffs and great prices on drinks. They even have several huge televisions playing different sport channels and races. It is pretty much a great place to hang out with the guys! I loved it here. It even attracts an awesome crowd of people that live around here too. You can't help to just get along with everyone and enjoy your night. I was there are pool tables as well but I didn't get a chance to check that out. I have yet to go back and try the food too. So I will be coming here a lot more often now and hopefully I can knock out my "To-Do" list here!

Pros: The food is great. the pool tables are perfect (and there is quite a few of them too). The good thing is that you don't have to buy every game, you just rent the balls, this makes it very easy to practice. The cues are pretty good. The ones hanging on the tables are a little warped, but they have about 20 cues that are very nice. The only con about those is that when you start to get hot and your fingers get moist, the cues don't slide that well. The chalk on the tables are fairly new, they weren't holed down to the bottom like the ones everywhere else.

Cons: The water tasted like toilet water and believe me, I am NOT exaggerating. So if you're planning on drinking water I suggest you bring your own.

Overall I really like this place and will definitely will be coming back to Fox and Hound

I went there recently for a "Deaf Meet Up" and it was appropriately 20 people in a group. I was impressed with the servers and one of them knew American Sign Language and able to communicate with Deaf customers with the orders.

I had a Texas Bowl of Chili and it was OK but not the best. The soup was sort of warm and I expected it to be really hot. Overall, I am not really a big fan with this place.

It's loud.  The beer is expensive.  The pub food is fine, but expensive for what you get.  I just can't think of a reason to go back, even though nothing was glaringly gross or unacceptable.

I'm not a big fan but I've been here dozens of times for two reasons:

    1. They upgraded the place and have an insane amount of TVs so if you're looking to watch a sports game, this is your venue.
    2. I live in NW Tucson and the choices of bars within a couple miles driving distance is slim. Sometimes, you just gotta settle.

I'm not slamming this place and I have yet to write a review below 3 stars (I'm a believer that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all). So here's my run-down:

The prices - too high in my opinion for the quality of food and drinks.
The service - I've literally been here dozens of times so I'm not making any judgements on a one-off experience. The service has always been just OK. The highlight of service here is that you're always greeted walking in but unfortunately it usually goes downhill from there.
Pool - they have quite a few pool tables here. I'm not a great pool player, but I love to play it. Fox & Hound has the most expensive fees for playing pool per hour out of the places I've been to in town. I refuse to pay it but I have played pool here when I've been treated to it and the tables and sticks are always in good shape.
Upstairs area - they have a nice upstairs area with darts and such. It's fun if you have a big party and want to have a more personal space.

Try it. Make up your own mind. Then write about it.

    The Pros:
    1. Multiple TVs in every room, different channels with sports and a few with music videos (of the music being played).  Your inner ADHD child will have a field day.
    2. Late closing (2 AM) and food until close.
    3. $2 draft Tuesdays with a wide variety of domestic and import selections (20+)
    4. 9 Wing flavors, each pretty good.

    The Cons:
    1. Inconsistency of service.
Sometimes the service is great, sometimes the service is kind of spotty.  I've noticed the manager comes by and asks about food/service, so make sure to say something if the service is not good--they might be trying to raise their service quality.
    2. Inconsistency of food.
Sometimes the food is really good, fresh and tasty and sometimes the food is kinda bland and mediocre.  I've asked about it, but they have at least 6 chefs working in the kitchen so you can't really request anyone (it IS a bar...) and it's kinda become a bit of luck of the draw.

    Recommendations:

    1. Go on a Tuesday.
Can't go wrong with a $2 draft (they have Woodchuck Cider on tap too for hesitant beer drinkers), and I've noticed my food and service is generally pretty good when I go on Tuesday.  Any other day and it's a crapshoot.

    2. Get a Starter
If you're there on an off-day, nothing you order will taste good, so I like to get an appetizer to "test the waters" so to speak.  I like the wings (there're 9 flavors to choose from for some variety), but getting the same starter gives me something to compare.  My fave flavors are Hot BBQ and Spicy Garlic (you get 2 flavors per 10 wings).  On a good day, I think they do better than Wingstop; on a bad day, it might be dry and bland.
If the starter is good, chances are pretty high any other food will turn out fine.  If the starter is bad, I'm probably just going to enjoy my $2 draft and walk.

    3. Stick with bar food, at best branch out with menu items marked "Fox Fave"
Regardless of whatever else, this is a bar; bar food sells alcohol, so good bar food will bring in more customers.
What I've found is that menu items marked with a red "Fox Fave" icon have a better chance of being consistently good.  "Better chance" doesn't equate to "always", but I'd take the better odds.
The Tavern burger is delish, as are the Wings, Fish and Chips, and a few sandwiches (especially the Black Forest).  My girlfriend doesn't like pretzel buns or honey mustard (Black Forest has both), but she still liked the Black Forest and would order it again.
These are all standard bar food, but are also all "Fox Faves" and so have the highest chance of being consistently good.

    4. Do NOT get the nachos, do NOT splurge on ribs.
Ultimate Nachos: Gotta remember that Fox and Hound is a national chain so their nachos aren't going to compare with real nachos (like El Charro's).  On a bad day, they'll be dry and possibly burnt, but on a good day they're only comparably to TGIF nachos.
Baby Back Ribs: Not really standard bar food so this isn't the place to get ribs. Even on a good day, they were dry and at best not terrible.

    The Verdict:
My biggest problem with Fox and Hound is the inconsistency in both food and service.  But at the end of the day (especially if it's a late day), I'll come here for cheap drafts, massive TVs and some moderately priced bar food.

So cold beer...I like it. I have honestly never eaten here but it is quickly becoming my favorite place to grab a beer with friends after work. Especially on $2 Tuesday. Any beer you want...really?! I vote yes! The atmosphere is pretty rad too I like lots of flat screens to watch sports. Wanna know the latest sports haps? Well hello there ticker under massive flat screen that is always updating. I like it. Service could be a teeny tiny bit better...but I have to say a friend and I had a beer there last night and sat at the bar, the bartender took our cards and remembered our names. That's great customer service! I'll be back...again...and again....lol.

The beer selection is modest and the food is hideous to look at, bad for you and tastes like salsa mixed with ranch dressing.  The only reason to patronize this NW side sportsbar is the comely waitresses and their charming personal problems. The televisions are giant but it feels like a fascist videodrome after a while.

I think this place has a worse reputation than it deserves.  This is definitely one of the better bars on the Northwest side.  They don't have the BEST of service, and the food may be slightly greasy.  But the food is better than Applebee's and they have a great bar. The burgers are awesome, and they serve food until close.  The beer selection is wide and unique.  Also great place to come play some pool, with tons of tables and two stories.

Been here over 100 times, never seen a fight, never had a problem, service has always been decent.  Maybe the other reviewers were just misled somehow by the wood walls and tables that haven't been conditioned since the place opened, or the extensive amount of outdated box televisions with dust from the Superbowl.. a decade ago, or the faded projector screens, but this isn't Flemmings.  Look this place is a tavern with a huge draft selection and pool tables and a cigar bar near MARANA... If you're expecting to find top of line service with grease-less health food, and top shelf liquors, check yourself, you're on the wrong side of Tucson. If you accept Fox and Hound for what it is, get some drinks with friends, eat some bar food, and play some pool, you can have a really good time.

The thing going for this place is that the kitchen stays open 'til closing. The music is loud. Service is casual. It's definitely a meat rack. We generally stop there when we have out of towners coming in at midnight and we don't want to go to Denny's.

i came home from this place thinking to myself: was that real?? a friend made an excellent point, fox and hound has all the makings of an excellent bar. two levels, pool tables, lots of tvs... but the service/food/drink situation was an EPIC disaster. short version: don't go here. and definitely don't go when they're busy.

we went in a group of 6 for a football game, and were planning on being there for the duration of the game - much like everyone else in the restaurant. first everyone ordered a round of the red fox amber ale, which was the advertised all day special, and a factor in our decision to go there. then we find out they're out of it, and the only other special is on budlight, which is $.75 more expensive. lame. anyways 1/2 our party ordered when we got there, 2 buffalo chicken wraps and 1 philly cheesesteak. 30 minutes later, the waitress came by to say that our wraps were taking a long time, and clarified what we ordered (aka, she either forgot to put our order in, or forgot which table to bring the wraps to) either way, after a total of 45/50 minutes, we get our grilled buffalo chicken wraps, cold, and the fries were semi-warm. but no philly cheesesteak. after what had been about an hour we reminded our waitress about the cheesesteak, and she apologized profusely, put the order in and to console my friend brought him a free basket of chips and salsa, which weren't good. we all felt like he should have gotten his meal free instead of some chips and salsa he didn't want. so after well over an hour his food came. throughout all of this, drinks that were ordered weren't being brought, people were being brought drinks they didn't order, it was a disaster. so then the other half of our party ordered. a bowl of chili (ordered after finding out that yet another menu item was not available) took 45 minutes and two reminders to come. the soup and salad actually came quickly, but the soup was ice cold, so that went back. and then our friend's burger took waaay over an hour to come, and involved many reminders, talking to the manager, and finally came at the end of the game. did i mention the friend who ordered that ran for almost two hours earlier? she was hungry. so the managers solution to this whole debacle was to not charge our friend for her burger, and to give her three vouchers for free appetizers to use next time. after the manager walked away we noticed that the vouchers are only valid w/the purchase of an entree, one per table/visit. OUTRAGEOUS! and while our friend definitely deserved her meal free (her mess up was the most obnoxious) i felt like everyone should have gotten at least 50% off. it was seriously the most ridiculous dining experience i've ever encountered. never going back, or if i have to for some reason, i'm definitely not ordering any food.

the place is grimey and musty. went for wings with fiance, he got his wings, took a bite and there was still blood in it from being undercooked. we told the waitress and she credited it so they get a plus for that, but thats about it. i wouldnt go back again, not even for a beer. the vibe is just weird in that place.

I purchased a group on for fox and hound and didn't realize that it expired 2 1/2 months after the purchase. I called to see if they would honor the Groupon anyways and the girl on the phone said yes we realize the expiration was hard to see and such a short duration. We we decided to go in and have dinner. Upon receiving the bill we were advised that we didn't order the minimum of $20 so we ordered the cheesecake ( which was fabulous by the way) so our bill over the $20. The waitress took out Groupon and realized it had expired and said she couldn't honor it and got the manager and he eventually took only $10 off our bill. Knowing this we never would of ordered the desert.

Over all the service was great and the food was great! It's very upsetting to get the wrong information regarding the expired Groupon.

This might be a great place to watch a game, but the food is not very good and their beer selection is not that great.  I would go somewhere else.  The burgers, chicken sandwich, and chicken tenders have all disappointed me.

Very slooooooooooow service. The food is okay, typical food for a place like this. Individual pizzas, wings, blah blah. Nothing exceptional about it. The atmosphere seems to be geared towards men (as usual). Girls in jerseys, beer girls in tiny skirts and dresses, sports on TVs, pool, etc etc. It bores me, but if you're a young guy or a girl desperate to seem 'cool,' then this place might be for you.

I needed a night out and this was the place we chose to go to so we could watch some basketball. Its a huge "British" style pub, if you will. Two huge rooms with televisions, tables, booths, some pool tables and darts. The main room when you walk in is pretty big. There's a bar in the back of the room, the ceilings are high and there's even an upstairs...I don't know whats up there. There's lots of beers on tab and a full bar. They have a full menu which offers appetizers, salads, burgers and some specialties.

    Our group decided to get:

The Bavarian pretzels with cheese: They were warm and greasy with too much sea salt. If there was less salt they would have been perfect! I kinda liked the warm, greasiness though.

    A Cobb salad w/popcorn chicken:
Something was off about it? Huge lettuce pieces with diced ingredients? The batter the on the chicken was rock hard! I didn't enjoy this. Hooters has a delicious Cobb salad w/ honey mustard sauce and the chicken is perfectly cooked...

Texas-sized bowl of Chile: This was okay, very filling but it wasn't the best chile I've ever had. It was not thick enough for my liking and I think it need some more zest.

The huge, warm gooey chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream:
    Absolutely delicious.

Overall the food was okay, reasonably priced. I wouldn't order those things again...I would try the burgers and the buffalo wings since those seem to be "safe" sports bar foods.

The Fox and Hound, like many local Tucson places to eat, drink, and be merry, has many ups and downs.  We'll start with some positive notes, it is an extremely CLEAN establishment, and if you're a sports fan, they can usually get whatever you want to watch up on one of their multiple screens (this does not guarantee sound, however).  Another large plus is the active sports ticker that scrolls constantly above the bar that keeps you abreast to the games not being shown.
The drinks are fairly priced, albeit, a little on the weak side for cocktails, and if you go on a tuesday, it's two dollar pints.  However, expect a bit of a delay in service at the bar, and an even longer delay if you have a server, but for 2 bucks, I mean, hey, what can you expect.
The pool tables are straight and true, full sized tables and the house cues are the same.  On busy nights you can find yourself waiting quite a while for one though, and they have no waiting list set up, so if you want to play, be vigilant! Nothing worse than waiting an hour only to get cut in line by a guy who walked up at the right second.
The food is good, especially the burgers, and the cooks seem to be able to dial in how you want your meat better than most tucson spots.  However, once again, a little high in price.
The overall atmosphere/energy of the place can be strange some times, and the music selection has left me scratching my head on occasion.  But overall, it's another nice, clean bar, that is a nice breath of fresh air if you're used to the atmosphere of downtown.
Oh! And they have a couple arcade games, I suggest Big Buck Safari, beat my high score while I'm in the bar, and I'll buy you a beer. ;-)

This is just your average American bar food establishment. You can get your standard burger, cheese fries and quesadillas. Decent beer selection and lots of pool tables. My server took great care of us and gave some good beer suggestions. I should mention that we were there really early before things got busy. This seems more like a local watering hole hangout than a great dining venue. So if you are looking for cheap food and a place to watch the game this place will do.

Best place in Tucson to play pool! Reason being is that you can get decent appetizers and reasonably priced drinks and shoot pool. Unlike most pool halls, this place does not smell like cigarette smoke!

The staff is very friendly and engaging. One of the waitresses loves to tell jokes. From time to time, they'll have karaoke. Keep an eye for that!

Inconsistent sums up my experience here. I'll have a few visits here that will be top notch and then turn around and not be able to find a waitress. Or will have had pretty good service and then want to leave and not be able to get a check.

The food is a little pricey, but that's ok if the service were up to it. I love the Pot Roast and the Beer Cheese Soup. But the deep dish pizza is very lacking, and tonight the Philly Cheesesteak had the texture of cubed steak. Huh? What's that all about.

Tons of things go on here, great atmosphere, but probably too many things on the menu. If you can't serve it well, then don't serve it. I can't figure out why the service is great 65% of the time, and horrible 35%. My experiences have been very inconsistent.

Went there for a friends going away bash during the NBA playoffs. Terrible food, terrible service, mediocre atmosphere. If you aren't a sports fan, this is not the place for you. The drinks are overpriced (unless it is happy hour) as well as the food.
This place would be good for large groups of people if they could assign more than one waitstaff to your table.

This place is only decent for cheap happy hour drinks ($2 Bud Light pints).  The appetizers were boring and overpriced (no happy hour specials on food except the pizzas).  The only thing worth getting there is  pretzel style sandwich basket for lunch or dinner.

YUCK. Greasy, cold, ill prepared menu items that just take FOREVER to get to you. We made the manager comp the bill. Gross. Gross. Gross.

We tried it for lunch once and it looked very much like the clientele from the night before just decided to stick around and open the place up in the morning.

Just go drink there and play pool and watch one of the gajillion big screen tvs blaring rockabilly and country music videos or sports channels. Don't bother ordering food unless you just need to throw something down to keep drinking!

Before I turned 21, I came here with friends and we were playing pool. I'm not a drinker and wasn't drinking that night. We just happened to have our loudest friend with us who couldn't stop laughing loud (can't hate her for it, though). Someone came over and asked if were all 21, but only one of us were. We were asked to leave and that's fine...I totally understand. Well, before we went to our seperate cars, we were saying goodbye in the parking lot. The manager came out and said he was going to call police if we didn't leave ASAP and waited until we scattered (there were a total of five of us, by the way).

I hadn't gone back here because of that until I was already 21 and didn't have to be thrown out. This time, I went out for drinks with a coworker of mine. We sat at the bar and the bartender (can't remember her name) was friendly and helpful. It was more than obvious that I'm no drinker when she asked what I wanted and I said, "The fruitiest thing you have, please." She asked if she could make something up for me and I said sure (my friend was paying because he was a gentleman like that). She gave me a strawberry (yay!), pineapple (double yay!), and cherry (omg, yay-yay-yay!) drink that hardly tasted like alcohol.

So, she made up for the past experience and I decided I would in fact attend a former co-worker's going away party here. My best friend and I showed up, but couldn't find anyone (they were watching a pay per view event in another room) and we sat down and ordered an appetizer to split. The cheese fries were okay (you can't really mess up cheese fries), but the waitress helping us hardly ever came back. Apparently, while I went to find our friend who was moving and carried on a conversation with him and some other people, I left just long enough for the waitress to come by and give my friend attitude. I'm not sure what transpired, but it wasn't pleasant and my friend and I decided to leave.

Its nothing awesome, but its close enough to everybody's house down there (I don't live there anymore) that people tend to have after-work get togethers there sometimes. To me its just... eh.

Great place to meet people. Great drinks, good food. The best sports bar in Tucson. What ever your sport is they have it on, with like 40 some TV's. If you have a favorite sport or team if you ask them they  seem to be happy to put it on one of the TV's for you. All in all I love this place, sorry about the bad review form the woman that didn't get waited on, but I have never had that happen to me there.

Coming here fully convinced me that I am a bad service magnet. How else could I explain all the bad service that I receive. I tell people that and many have been surprised at how bad their service is when they're with me. One person said that it's because I have a "kind face" and people must think they can take advantage. Hmm, sounds like a dumb explanation to me, but I'll be sure to walk into restaurants sneering and looking mean.
    Anyway, about Fox and Hound . . . .
Because I am a huge dork, when I read "Fox and Hound", I immediately thought of THE fox and THE hound and imagined Disney style music playing on the background while little birds in kerchiefs took my order and friendly mice in aprons brought out my food and made me a dress while I waited. Not the case. At all. We walked in and stood there like idiots waiting for someone. A girl finally came and told us that we were supposed to just sit wherever. I guess I should've known that, but I assumed since we were there to eat and not just sit at the bar, someone would show us to a table. I would've liked to see a little "please seat yourself" sign at least. The girl told us menus were on the tables and someone would be there shortly to take our order. We sat down, read the menu, chose what we wanted, waited, waited, waited, wondered if we had to go order somewhere, saw that people were having their orders taken, waited, waited, had staff members pass by and smile at us but not ask us anything, waited, waited and finally just decided to leave. We were there for a long time clearly not even drinking anything and it didn't seem to matter to anyone. Like if we'd just walked in to sit down and rest. Sports were on the televisions and watching that seemed to be more of a priority to the staff than actually helping anyone. I realize that there are places where you have to go order somewhere yourself, and staff saw us, they could have told us. I mean, we clearly didn't know and didn't see anyone else getting up to order. I don't know if we had to flag someone down but if that's the case, this isn't the place to for me. Begging for service is not my idea of a good time.
