Fox and Hound Tavern

I cannot believe I lived in Whitehouse for 5 years and didn't know about this place!  Come on guys - get out there and advertise!!!

Intended to just stop in for a beer and an app.  Ended up staying for 2 beers a piece, 2 apps and 1 entree b/c the first app was so delicious.  We had the tuna tartare, pulled pork taco and buttermilk fried chicken which came with mac n cheese and green beans.  Everything was absolutely delcious!  

I see that many people complain about the price.  let me tell you this...you get what you pay for.  You may be able to go down the road a bit and save yourself $2 - $3 per app/entree but the food quality is not nearly this good and the ambiance is not as classy as it is here.  Also, this is not the "middle of nowhere".  Easy access to Rt 78 & Rt 22.  About 20 minutes from Somerville NJ.  

You have to try this place out!!!  Will not be disappointed!  Can't wait to go back!

2. The refreshing Kona beers with toasted coconut
3. The savory sauteed calamari...wha?!
4. The deelish Kahlua pork tacos...omgawd!
5. The totally fresh tuna tartare

Wow...rural NJ is better than suburban NJ. Whowouldathunkit

The food, ambience, and service are generally superb, but I did have one lunch where the lobster on the lobster salad was very fishy tasting. In general, though, this is a neighborhood gem.
