There are so many great things to say about Frankie's.

It's in an old Dairy Queen, but don't let that deter you.  It's very comfortable and clean inside with booths and tables.  They also recently expanded it.  It just has the bones of the classic Dairy Queen floor plan.  It's kind of funny.

The food:  the garlic bread that comes out before the meal is fluffy and buttery.  Yum.  There are always lunch specials that include several different kinds of pasta.  Their pastas can be heavy on the sauce so advise them if this is not your thing.  But all the pastas I've hadthere are simple and good.  The pizza is my favorite though.  A small pizza is about the size of a medium at most places, maybe bigger.  You can get all kinds of toppings on it.  I usually get toppings that aren't even on the list.  The crust is great and it heats up well if you take it home.

The service is usually good, but they can get overwhelmed at lunch time and this slows things down.  You can also call in orders and pick them up through the drive thru window.

A trip to Mexia is never complete without a visit to Frankie's :)

For a place that started out as a Dairy Queen when i was a kid, Frankie's is by far one of my favorite Italian restaurants.  The staff and owners are very nice and their food is always good.  Their pizza ranks in my top three (and this includes pizza I've had in Italy and NYC) -- plus they do takeout.  I really like the diavolo dishes mentioned in other reviews, but I really like their chicken and veal marsala as well.  I had a full-size chicken marsala for lunch (salad included) for $6.95 - Talk about value for money!  Oh, and their homemade pasta dishes are good choices if you want some good, hot comfort food.  If you find yourself in Mexia, you need to give this place a try.

Do not let the exterior dissuade you from visiting this wonderful restaurant.  The food was exceptional.  I had the special chicken diavolo with the most delicious sauce. They had shrimp diavolo on the regular menu.  The salad was very good and bread was over the moon good.  We had excellent service on a Friday night and the prices were very inexpensive.

We went here for the first time last night, and, overall, we enjoyed our experience. The restaurant is family-friendly and the prices are pretty good. I had a stromboli, and it was all right--a bit too many green bell peppers, though. My husband had the chicken parmesan, and it was was pretty good. The red sauce is tasty, too. All meals come with bread, which I always like. The waiters were friendly, and the customer service was very good. Come here if you want a tasty dinner for a good price.

The restaurant also has a website, but the menu prices were a bit out of date.

Update: We have been here several times since this first time, and we highly recommend this restaurant. They offer great service, good food, and a nice environment. They have recently added on and the new area really opens up the restaurant and makes certain sections of it a bit more private. Great for families and for couples. Enjoy!
