We have been coming to Fresh Ketch for over 4 years. Â Vacationing in South Lake Tahoe we look forward to coming here for the first night of our vacation. Well we were so disappointed that they have a new owner an a new WAY MORE EXPENSIVE menu! I always get a Rum Runner drink, well you can't order that anymore. Â The bartender told me the past owner had the rights to the ingredients an he couldn't make it anymore? Â That sounded so stupid! There new featured frozen drink "can't remember the name" is horrible, so I sent it back. Â Then we ordered the coconut shrimp for a appetizer, got 8 you can tell frozen shrimp for $15, bad we didn't even eat them all. Â Then the Fish Taco's that we loved an dreamed about for a whole year were dry and flavorless, rice tasteless for $15, such a rip off. For 2 people the dinner was over $60 an it was BAD! Â Service was so slow too!
GOOD BYE FRESH KETCH..................so sad!
Tonight when we arrived we walked into the patio area. When we got there, there was no hostess at the hostess stand, so we decided to seat ourselves because there was no sign directing us what to do. Â Once we sat down the hostess walked by and under her breath said, "oh why don't you go ahead and seat yourselves." Â
Then the waitress showed up and of course we were hoping that the experience would get better but it didn't. It started out okay but the waitresss only brought us three cups of chowder instead of the four we ordered.  After waiting for her to show up for five minutes, I finally had to ask the busboy to bring us a cup.
Once the waitress did show up I asked her if she would bring me some Tabasco sauce.  I got a bucket with every condiment  in the world except Tabasco sauce.  So of course... I had to get up from my dinner with my family and get it myself.
Then the food showed up and I thought well this should make up for everything else.  The fish and chips that my two girls shared were amazing... they looked and tasted great.  However the Ruben sandwich that my wife and I shared was a joke.  It had two pieces of meat in it which were both burned and dry (clearly the days leftovers).  There was almost no sauerkraut on the sandwich.  Additionally, one side had a ton of thousand island while the other had none.
All of that for the great price of $80.00.
Oh....this review was went directly to the restaurant and they never responded!!  Glad they care......
Be careful to check your credit card charges after dinning at this establishment. Â My card was charged twice for one check. Â Food had to be sent back to be cooked properly and service average. This is a tourist establishment that appears to have absent management. Â Called twice to get the charge corrected and I am still not sure the second charge has been corrected.
Review Source:I enjoyed my evening at the Fresh Ketch on vacation.
The food and the service were excellent. I had the lobster cake sliders and they were delicious. Also had a bite of 3 other dishes and they were all great.
The band playing that evening had the place buzzing, I wish I remembered the name.
I would recommend the Fresh Ketch to anybody looking for fine dining in South Lake Tahoe and don't miss out on their live music nights.
Food was OK. Â Too expensive for the quality. Â I knew it was going to be bad when the waiter wasn't writing down the order for my family of 5. Â I ordered Lobster Bisque, which was excellent, by the way when it showed up. Â I was given clam chowder first. Â Kids drinks didn't come until halfway through our meal and having to ask twice.
Could have just been our waiter, but I could have gotten the same quality food for cheaper somewhere else.
Where to begin? Let's start with the awesome stuff.
Awesome: The Pear Martini! Not too sweet, a good balance of pear and martini flavors. Also, the Baked Brie with honey/apples/almonds/etc was fab.
The OK: The calamari was pretty good - nothing that would make you go out of your way for calamari here, still very good though.
The Not-So-Great: We went in during Tahoe's "off-season", so it wasn't a surprise to find that one of the tiems we wanted to order wasn't available. That's okay, kind of expected during off-season. But then we were told that two(!) more items weren't available. My partner-in-crime, ever the jovial asshat, made a point of asking if there was *anything* on the menu were could order. Our poor waitress took him in stride (props to you Miss).
The Bad, Bad, Bad: We don't get to go out all that often without our kid, and we knew that Fresh Ketch does live music often. Since we wanted to be able to have a conversation over dinner, I called ahead and specifically asked if they would be having live music that night. The woman on the phone said no.
How very surprised we were then, to have two musicians set up and start playing about 15 minutes after we arrived. The man was a highly decent bluesman, and we honestly would have stayed and enjoyed the music if it had just been him. The woman though, no. Just no. She butchered Nora Jones songs, which should tell you how well she treated the Ella Fitzgerald tunes when she got to them. Her voice was so jarring we left after our appetizers to go have dinner elsewhere.
Look, everyone has different musical tastes, and it seemed like a healthy amount of people were inebriated enough to enjoy what the young woman was doing... we just couldn't. And we were both pretty pissed that we had called maybe thirty minutes before the duo started playing, to be told that they didn't have live music that evening. If we had known, we would have gone elsewhere, and Fresh Ketch might have snagged a higher review.
How should I start..**NOT WORTH IT** **TOO OVERPRICED****RUDE STAFF*
well. I went in for my birthday dinner this Saturday  night only to be dissapointed :(
I visited South Lake Tahoe for the weekend and was in the mood for some yummy seafood and most specifically, Cioppino!  I went into 3 restaurants prior to coming to The "Fresh" Ketch just on the hunt for some delicious, flavorful Cioppino. I was so happy to learn that they had some! I was so excited I didn't give my boyfriend enough time to thoroughly  choose his dinner so he just ordered a New York steak, well, because you can never go wrong with "fresh" steak! right? I'm going to start by saying our waitress was great, she was up beat and seemed happy to be there! she was so welcoming and interactive the whole night. I went in during the night so i did not get to see the view , which i am sure could have been lovely! so the garlic bread was awesome but then my Cioppino came in..I felt bad for even disliking it so much..it was SUPER SALTY..I could barely taste the different flavors that Cioppino has and it was just OK, for $40 /plate I expected a POWWW. Oh man..now for the lobster claw..im so sad..how can lobster taste so bad?! The lobster meat didn't even taste like lobster..more like imitation crab meat with like ammonia..im not kidding. Once i took out the meet from the claw i got this awful , overwhelming scent of ammonia?!  I had to literally spit it out! (sorry if you were a customer that night and saw it in action). I called a waitress and she seemed really apologetic and asked if i wanted something other than that from the menu,..um no..I really felt like i was part of movie and was going to be poisoned..so no thank you!!, in a nice way. she offered dessert so yes, that might cheer me up about %1, thanks. i forgot to mention that the waitress who returned the plate was not the same waitress from the beginning..so I am waiting until hubby finished his steak.. (really dry and rare?? hmm) I called the waiter who brought back my plate and she asked how she could help, I asked her what the chef had to say about the dish and she replies with a snooty answer "He says there is nothing wrong" and walks away..um..OK?, Thanks? 15 minutes after i do not see my actual waitress from the beginning so i call over the waitress who replied rudely and asked her if she knew if the Cioppino was going to be taken off the check? again she replies.." I dont know, Im not your waitress" with attitude ! and i ask her to please call my waiter because I cant seem to find her..I understand you have other tables to serve but when there is a serious matter..like my lobster smelling like ammonia it should be your priority to keep a costumer happy! Thankfully our FIRST waiter was really nice about the whole thing and only charged us for a few things..she was well TIPPED :D because THAT is how you treat a costumer !! will not be back unfortunately..
I visited here on a cold sunny day in January. Â Nice ambiance inside with fireplace. Bloody Mary was excellent and iced tea very tasty. Â Started with clam chowder. Very thick like too much corn starch used with large chunks of potato but not much clam taste or clams. Avoid. Â Broiled shrimp and scallops ($24) Â nicely presented but not very tasty. Both shrimp and scallops were tough as though too long in the freezer and with very bland taste. A medley of fresh veggies was very good as was the rice pilaff. Although the wait staff was friendly and professional and the setting pleasant. I give this only two stars because of the poor quality of the overpriced food. A disappointing dining experience unfortunately in what should be a very nice place.
Review Source:This place has gone downhill since when we first ate here. I ordered the chefs special which was a 1/2 a pound of king crab and a sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus which was $29. Â The crab tasted like it had been frozen and was very hard to crack and the meat was very rubbery, Â the steak was hard and overcooked, the mashed potatoes were hard and dry and the asparagus also tasted like it had been frozen. The server was excellent though and she is the single reason for the one star. We will not be coming back.
Review Source:I must note that they have a make-it-yourself Bloody Mary bar on Sunday mornings. Â How crazy is that? Â They are fully stocked with various hot sauces, spices, juices, pickled veggies, fresh veggies, and just anything that you could think of to put into a glass of Bloody Mary.
I'm not a fan of BM, but Matt B. is and he was excited to be making his own BM. Â I was just trying to recover from Saturday night so I had a glass of water instead. Â However, the bartender was very friendly.
Two days later, we returned to Fresh Ketch after dinner to have some wine and there was live music. Â It got loud, but was pretty neat that they let local artists perform at the bar area, even on a week night. Â The price on wine was reasonable (I had a glass of riesling and it was $9), and there wasn't too much service but I guess it could be a good thing that no one came to pester us about getting food.
I think maybe next time we might dine here during the day to take advantage of the lake view!
Being relatively new residents to SLT, my husband and I have been trying the local restaurants so we can recommend and/or enjoy with guest. We were happy with the comfortable feel of the restaurant, but somewhat surprised that it wasn't busy for a Saturday night (12/15). There where just two tables occupied. The waitresses were shooting the breeze with the bartender, and no host (seat yourself sign). Â The wait staff glanced at us and contined their conversation. Several minutes later we got a menu and "what would you like to drink". I have to say the food was more delicious than expected. Kudos to the chef. Â Drinks generic were OK. After several minutes of waiting for the check i finally received it, only to have to carry the check with my credit card to the waitress, since she was in an apparent life or death conversation with the bartender. Too bad the staff does not greet customers. It's a small touch that makes a difference. Not sure of s return. Â So sad the staff is not attentive.
Review Source:Two dozen oysters, a bowl of cioppino, two bottles of white wine, and the warm breeze kissing your face while the jazz band whispers in your ear on the outdoor patio ... perfect night of some R&R.
While I wasn't blown away by the cioppino, the wine and oysters were some of the best I've had in a long time. Â I probably could have eaten another half dozen of those babies -- so fresh and so tasty, I'm pretty sure I was moaning to myself.
My best friend and I decided to go here on the last night of our vacation and were shocked at how horrible the experience was.
Our server was rude and distant. Every single thing that we ordered was gross. We started with the crab cakes which were cold and soggy. I had the lobster bisque which was a horrible texture and a caesar salad that tasted as though it had been made and dressed several hours earlier. My friend ordered a half dozen oysters which she said lacked flavor. Her oysters were supposed to come with a trio of sauces which our waiter forgot to bring out. When he came back he said that he couldn't find the sauces in the kitchen which struck us as weird and unprofessional. She also had the ahi salad which we both tried and determined was not safe to eat. The only slight saving grace was that they took the salad off the bill. That being said everything else and two cocktails came to $70.00. Absolutely ridiculous.
We ended up going back to our hotel and ordering pizza. Should have done that in the first place.
I love Fresh Ketch! This is our go to restaurant in South Lake Tahoe. And it's very convenient when staying in the Keys.
The food is really good. Try the grilled chicken sandwich and the filet mignon burger!
Sometimes the service is slow..just depends on what night of the week it is.
Best place to sit is outside, during the summer months obviously. You get to see the boats and watch the sunset.
When you're fresh off the boats stop in here. This place is a staple as the only eatery/watering hole in this marina.
The food was decent--clam chowder and wedge salad and the energy was high with many middle age rich singles looking to get their groove on after some water sports.
Service was questionable the three times I came throughout the weekend but what are you gonna do, it's a tourist area.
From my grandma who doesn't have Yelp: "On August 18th we went to the Fresh Ketch Restaurant. My family and I (a party of 12), left that place very unhappy. What a horrible experience! The service was mediocre, the food was extremely salty, charred, and overpriced. Worst of all, the general manager (Dan) didn't seem to care. We will for sure never be back there again, let alone recommend it to anybody else."
I was also there with my grandmother and I can confirm what she said. It seemed like the waitress was busier helping other tables than ours and I'm guessing it mainly had to do with the fact that her tip (20%!!) was guaranteed due to our large group. Additionally, for a restaurant of that caliber, it is usually customary to offer bread or some other food to munch on before your meal. There was no bread due to some sort of battle between the chef and the general manager- although my great aunt did get some standard toasted bread with her cioppino order.
Although the restaurant's prime location on the marina is absolutely stunning, I think that you would be better off going elsewhere for that price and level of service.
One of our favorite restaurants in South Lake Tahoe. We referred and have taken many friends and guests over the years but have not gone in a while. WHAT HAPPENED??? The menu has changed. Prices up but food was awful. It was the 2nd time in a month that I tried fish and chips at a restaurant. Tasteless, oily, gross. I was embarrassed after I raved about the place. The fish tacos were bad. All the entrees were disappointing. The appetizers were ok. Will not return until I see some better reviews.
Review Source:I am starting this review from the telephone conversation, the young lady was pleasant, however I asked to reserve an outside table @ 4:50pm and was told that is not possible, no reservations allowed for outside dining. Â I am a bit startled by this. Â Garwoods is excellent and many others at reserving tables for outside dining. Â I must mention Sunnyside too!!!!!! Â Even Steamers will hold a table for you and they are 5 minutes from the marina.....
In this economy customer service is so important. Â We will try them later this week and I will attempt to go in with an open mind.
I have been coming up to the lake for 25 plus years and I finally decided to head over to this side of the lake give this place a try. Â To begin, they have a beautiful view of the docks on this side of the lake with plenty of outdoor seating. Â they have a full bar and offer a good selection of beers on tap. Â
I ended up ordering a fillet Mignon bacon burger and a pint of Fat Tire. Â They took a little while to bring our meals but it was worth it. Â The burger was on a beautiful roll and had perfectly cooked bacon on top. Â Oh and it was huge.... I think it was well over 8oz. Â However the burger itself was overcooked. Â I ordered it medium and received it well.
The burger was well seasoned and the fries were decent. Â I left with a full belly and a nice little buzz from the three beers.
It wasn't bad, but it was overpriced for what it was.
We sat down by the live music downstairs instead of upstairs and there were some ladies interacting with the musician. It was OK at the beginning but then they got drunker and started swearing in my general area as well as just sloshing around the dining room to where i thought she was going to knock something over. I mean....is this a pub or a fine dining restaurant? The menu prices say fine dining but the atmosphere and overall food leave you with a pub experience.
Chose what you want to be and be it.
To review the food. Lobster bisque was a bit watery, yet good with chunks of lobster. The chicken Normandy was a good size portion, and pretty tasty. I would say it could use some more texture or something to compliment the sweetness of the sauce and apples. The Beef Steak tower salad was probably the worst thing we had. It only had 2 small pieces of steak with some onions, tomatoes and lettuce. The steak wasn't grilled the best and it was a 14$ salad. Ouch on the salad.
I think this place may be OK for beers and appetizers....maybe. I won't be back.
As a regular tourist to the South Lake Tahoe area, this is one of our regular stops when in town. We especially love this place in the summer when we can sit outside on the patio, overlooking the harbor, and watch the boats come in and out while we enjoy a drink and some snacks.
We always eat downstairs, which is more casual / bar food. Food is always tasty and fresh. The oysters are always wonderful and our kids love the fish and chips. Â Just a great place to go for lunch or dinner to relax and enjoy a nice beer and a casual atmosphere. Â Can't wait to go back.
Had a great time here!
The Club was delicious: ham, turkey, hickory bacon, lettuce, mayo, on toasted sourdough*(by request).
Cobb salad was loaded with veggies and was bright and vibrant.
We got the Paso Robles Liberty School Wine-Cab..gotta represent!
Live music by Ike and Martin...wow can they do some covers...Billy Idol, Beatles, Eagles, etc.
The place gives off a local feel- it's kinda inside of a yaht club area ( not seen from the road).
You get a beautiful view of the lake and boats thought.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service.
My once a year trip to Fresh Ketch with my elderly father and mother has always been a great experience. I look forward each time to, what my taste buds think to be, the best Mahi Mahi fish tacos around. The Seared Ahi is awesome too! Quite frankly, anything you order will probably be above-par.
Today's dining experience (August 12, 2011) was a complete train wreck. They were out of the Mahi Mahi, we had super slow service, wrong order delivered more than once, and a less than responsive general manager who didn't know how to make things right and disappeared. Be careful with this restaurant until the leadership gets better or is asked to leave.
I love this place but certainly need to follow up with the owner. The problem is that nobody seems to know who the person is. Usually 5 stars but today a zero. Overall it gets a 2 to get your attention but next year it may be a 5 again.
Sitting outside overlooking the marina in the summer with a glass of wine. Yes! Clams, Oysters, Calamari...all good! Watch out for that horseradish, it's hot and tasty. Â Caesar salad and blackened ahi fish tacos are the best!
Always attentive, friendly service here. They promptly brought us a propane heater as the evening became chilly....very nice Fresh Ketch!
After roughing it for three days around Lake Tahoe, it was finally time to grab some up-market cuisine for our last night in the area. With some decent reviews on Yelp and $35 - $40 per head for entrees, this had to be worth a visit. That is a price that's rare to see even in some if the trendier parts of Brooklyn, so for South Lake Tahoe it's genuinely top end.
Some things stuck out immediately. Water served in plastic cups (isn't garbage a problem in the wilderness?), the flat panel TVs in every direction showing NASCAR racing or the world whackiest car crashes, I'm not sure which, and best of all the table and chairs looked like they'd been bought a the local home depot in the clearance sale.
Anyway, the menu looked good so I ordered Ceaser Salad and Rib eye steak with mash and grilled asparagus. My wife ordered a fish salad.
Briefly, the Ceaser salad was ok, but the dressing was generic and very supermarket tasting. My steak was virtually perfect, but the mash was from powder and the asparagus was nicely grilled but cold. The fact the whole thing was ready the instant I'd finished my starter made me wonder. As for the fish salad, the fish was nicely seared but again cold and the whole thing was drenched in Safeway salad dressing.
So is it really that bad? Well, for $40 or so for the whole meal for two, in line with the local diners, sure I'd give it four stars. But for almost $100, it was daylight robbery. This place wouldn't last 2 minutes anywhere else or if it wasn't part of the mariner, which is a beautiful segue.
I can only imagine that the other reviews giving this four stars have been posted by people who are either members of the marina, and therefore their loyalties are playing a part, or locals who really don't know what a $50 meal should taste like. The waiting staff were pretty nice and the food really wasn't terrible, but the pretense got up my nose. Being near the water with a view of a couple of boats doesn't mean you can charge Manhattan prices for tinned food.
I still left a nice tip and feedback on the forms they left. One can only hope they either lower the price, or actually serve $50 food cooked while you're there, not three days previously.
We came to this restaurant last year (Jan 2010) with about 10 people and had a great time: very good food, great servcies.
On this trip, we decided to make it our Sat night dinner, and my wife and I were really looking forward to their steaks. Â There were four of us and we made reservations. Â We were seated quickly, but after that it was mostly downhill. Â They didn't have the single malt scotches we ordered (nothing very exotic), and had to come back twice to get it right. Â Then, the waitress brought our soups and salads at the same time as the appetizers (!!). Â In my book, there is absolutely no excuse for this at a fine dining restaurant. We sent our soups back and when she brought them out at the right time, my New England Clam Chowder was only lukewarm. Â
For the entree, they were out of the steak we were looking forward to, but we ordered a ribeye steak "blackened". Â They got the order completely wrong -- it wasn't blackened and had a sweet vinaigrette drizzle. Â When we sent it back, we had to wait about 25 min for our steaks to be done, and then the steak was over-cooked and dry. Â We both ended up eating very little of it.
On the positive side, the manager did take off some of the items from our bill -- it is definitely a step in the right direction, but obviously not enough.
My recommendation is that the management get some of these issues under control so that their guests can enjoy the king of memorable evening we did last year. Â On our next trip, we will probably check out Yelp and, if the reviews are looking positive, will give it another try.
After a rough day of jet skiing out on Lake Tahoe The Fresh Ketch is the perfect place to warm your bones. Â Belly up to the bar for a great drink served up by friendly and talented bartenders. Â Lucky us. Â We had a bartender who told us to try his special chicken wing concoction - chicken wings with a combo of all three sauces, Thai, BBQ and traditional. Â It was outrageous! Â It takes a lot to impress me with wings, but this did the trick. Â We then went on to the Reuben. Â Yummy, that's all I can say. Â
And speaking of Bloody Mary bars (see my Sharkey's review), they have one here too. Â Unfortunately, it's only set up during the wee hours of Sunday mornings and we didn't get a chance to partake.
After spending the afternoon chatting with the locals and partaking of some awesome wings, we look forward to coming back for the Bloody Mary bar and a breakfast that the bartender says is worth the return trip.
Great seafood place in Tahoe with very reasonable prices considering the location. I've yet to try the upstairs menu though, which is considerably pricier but I assume, for good reason. I admit at first I though there must be a lot of good seafood up in Lake Tahoe given the lake, but I realized how dumb that was on second though given the different between a lake and the ocean.
Anyways the food and atmosphere here will almost make you think you're next to a sea again what with the great view of the lake and marina as well as the food which certainly tastes fresh and well-made. Also good are the mixed drinks menu (of course being me, I'd point that out), which has some pretty unique items, especially for hot alcoholic drinks, which I admit I don't know enough of besides irish coffee or just adding Kahlua to anything to order on my own. And the prices for these drinks are pretty good to boot. Meaning I ordered quite a few cocktails which is rare for me at a restaurant (too expensive and/or not worth it).
It's probably the best seafood in Tahoe, though I still have a few places I need to try. After a long day skiing/boarding or just for a gourmet meal or fancy date, hit this place up.
Went here for my birthday. The food was ok and service was mediocre.
The only advice I got for the ladies is that there is a waitress, Lindsay, who opened her waitress button-up shirt and showed much cleavage. Ok to be sexy but not ok to be distasteful. Additionally, she gave the check to my boyfriend and placed a heart near her name on the check.
Totally inappropriate.
Keep your personal activities outside of work, dress in a classy way, and really, don't piss me off on my birthday. You ain't no threat to me, but any person who acts in dumb ways will hear it from me.
To the manager- don't be surpised to get a letter from me about the behavior of this young woman.
clam chowder, fish and chips, salmon tacos.. stiff drinks..
Food is alright, atmosphere a bit hookey, music for a the 50's + crowd.. eat downstairs, not upstairs at the overpriced menu.
Eating outside in the summer is nice on the lawn.. it's usually pretty busy since they are right in the marina, so don't expect amazing customer service.
I don't disagree when meeting friends there, but it's something I wouldn't suggest right off the bat..
Not bad.. It's the bad folky music that makes me want to leave.. but for those who do like like live loud music while your trying to have a conversation, then this is the place for you.
3.5 stars overall.
The pros: Nice menu selection. The upstairs restaurant is fairly pricey, so we usually eat at the bar area downstairs -- although you can still order from the upstairs menu if you want, the bar menu has plenty of more reasonably-priced items to choose from. And the food is always great. Favorites: baked brie, any of the fish specials, steamed clams, and my husband loves the burger (the fries -- both sweet potato and regular -- are great). Also, nice wine selection, and the atmosphere is pretty cozy.
The cons: I was sad to learn that none of their fish is wild. Especially considering their NAME. Also, when they have live music (again, this only applies to the downstairs area), it's usually annoyingly loud -- nothing against the musicians, who are great -- but it's a small area, and the amps aren't necessary.
As for service, we've always had friendly servers, our waters are generally filled up the moment they start getting low, and our food usually comes out very quickly. But, it can also be a bit...spacey. We've been served the wrong thing two or three times (advice: if you order dessert to go, check it before you leave). And we've had to ask for things (like a menu, a drink, ketchup, etc.) twice on a number of occasions, even when it wasn't busy.
Ok, so how have I been coming up to Tahoe since I was a wee one and have never been here? I am always looking for a nice restaurant other than the usual hotel offerings and this delivered.
My husband and I dined here on Valentines Day and had a really nice dinner. Im sure in the summer the views and ambiance are fabulous - winter darkness makes for a bland view out the windows :( Â Aside from having to use my imagination as to what things should look like, Â I didnt have to imagine a great dinner.
We started off with a half dozen of Kumamoto oysters - ok, this is my only complaint, they were wimpy. Tiny and flat. Disappointing. They are my favorite oysters and are normally on the small side, but they are at least plump. At least the flavor was sea worthy and fresh.
Dinner for me was a wonderfully cooked Chilean Sea Bass on top of a chive mash with watercress and a citrus vinagrette. I have to admit I think the dish could have gone without the citrus wedges, I just dont think it melded with the fish that great. And the fish was so fabulously cooked it stood on it's own.
My husband got the lamb shank and it was HUGE! I didn't get a taste of it becuase by the time I looked up from my meal he was damn near liking the plate clean.
So, I also have to offer my apologies to our nice waiter - my husband and I sat in silence and ate in record time.....I was so sore from skiing I could barely move my legs and needed to lay in bed stat!
I promise next time we will be a little more jovial if you promise me fatter oysters Fresh Ketch!
My boyfriend and I came here for a weekday lunch during our brief stay in Tahoe. Â Originally, we drove out to Beacon Bar & Grill at Camp Richardson based on a recommendation for its wonderful views of the lake. Â Unfortunately, it was closed for renovation, but recommended The Fresh Ketch as an alternative. Â So, we drove out there and took advantage of the 15% discount coupon.
Although the restaurant wasn't situated right by the lake, we had views of sailboats and a small body of water. Â Our server was friendly and took the time to go over the day's specials. Â I ordered the mahi mahi sandwich with french fries and my boyfriend ordered the fish tacos. Â Both wonderful choices! Â Although we didn't order cocktails, they have a fully stocked bar...and it seemed like the patrons were taking advantage of that.
I'm not sure if I'll go back again, but it's a good, safe bet. Â Fish was mouth watering.
I know it's a busy time of year, but that's no excuse for the truly rude service we received last night. Not only did our waitress ignore us (perhaps because we were just two?) but our drinks sat at the bar for a good 10 minutes, while other servers were picking up theirs far faster. Â And when I told her I didn't want the second glass of wine because it had been over 10 minutes since I'd ordered it and I was done, she actually gave me a withering look, as if it were my fault and not hers. Â
Food has dropped in quality too - overdressed salad that lacked the pecans it was supposed to, and prices seem to keep going up!
The one pleasant surprise was seeing a wider selection of wines by the glass. Â Not that I plan to return here anytime soon to try them!
For better lakeside dining, try anyplace else - really.
I ordered the Cajun pasta which came with one, yes one, tiny piece of sausage. Â The sauce was bland and lifeless.
My wife and aunt both ordered the fish and chips made with Cod. Â It was extremely oily beyond anything I've ever seen.
The beer was cold and the atmosphere was pleasant. Â I'm sure there is something good on the menu. Â We just didn't find it when we went there.
We went to beautiful Lake Tahoe this memorial weekend and went to a few nice restaurants that I would like to add to my little review list. This place was good, not the best  but good.
It was dinner time and we both had a craving for some delicious fish .We asked around for a good place and was referred this restaurant by a local and I'm glad we went.
It s a nice yacht club,The setting was nice, downstairs & up stairs we did the upstairs( I suggest upstairs) with the  view of the yachts not much of the lake.
We started with the with calamari appetizer witch was ok, we then both shared this Candied Walnut ,fetacheese, spinage, something ,something salad with this incredible honey vinaigrette dressing which was Amazing!! (truly incredible) I wish I had the recipe for this salad it seriously was that good. Â
I ordered the lobster stuffed halibut witch was mmmm.. wonderful cooked to perfection, very light cream sauce drizzled over(could of used a little more flavor) was delicate, nice and the presentation of the food was beautiful.
Service was nice( not the absolute best) views are not spectacular, but it was an overall good experience and a very satisfying dinner.
