Some of my friends really like this place so we went there this past weekend. This place was D-E-A-D, dead this Friday. We were the only people there until like 9:30. The food is decent, but they don't have a great selection of liquors. Beer selection was ok though... Just not my thing.
Review Source:Had a great time at Happy Hour! Â
Pros: Â NON-SMOKING, clean, feels very open, staff is eager to please, prices are reasonable, the food is good. Â Free-pouring bartenders...none of those g-ddamn "measuring" drink dispensers like at some other bars I won't mention...
Came in here on a Friday night with about 10 coworkers and had a great time. Â Lots of seating and everybody liked their food. Â We're going back again ASAP.
The cons are pretty minor: Â Kind of small liquor selection (they may not have your brand), and pretty quiet unless you're willing to put some money in the jukebox (which has a pretty limited selection). Â
Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood!
Friends Bar, or more commonly known as Sisters, is part of the lively south, south Squirrel Hill commercial district. VERY diverse, eclectic music selection, lots of room for dancing, and friendly staff. We brought a friend from the West Coast and had a blast!
One minor complaint is that the lights were a bit bright. Regardless, I look forward to coming back!
What a "Friend"-ly place to visit. Â OK, enough with the puns, in all seriousness, this was a nice place to stumble upon. Â Out during a walk through Squirrel Hill last night, my friends an I decided to walk up Forward and had no idea that this place existed.
Connected to Frankie's next door and owned by the same people, the noise kind of overlaps, but kind of plays off of each other really well. Â Also ignore the thumping from up above, you are below a bowling alley. Â The inside is nicely redone with a bar that stretches along one of the the walls, with stools for seating. Â Booths line the other wall for comfortable seating. Â Fireplace with seating in front of it as well. Â Pool table in the front room to occupy some of your time. Â A handicap bathroom sits off from the room that has the pool table and the other bathrooms are located downstairs.
The staff was very upbeat and very polite. Â Asking for any type of feedback that you could give they were asking for and were prepared to pass it on to the owners to make this place better than what it is currently.
Prices for the drinks were not bad. Â Music last night alternated between karaoke, DJ and jukebox. Â Wednesday and Saturdays are karaoke nights. Â DJ Stef is there on other nights. Â There's definitely enough room in here to have a nice little time.
I couldn't give this place five stars because the bathroom had a funk to it, like a drain was left open and you could smell the drainage pipes. Â And they definitely need to expand the types of alcohol they carry, it was looking sparse behind bar.
I would come back here again for sure.
This is the newest bar in Squirrel Hill and it's a lesbian bar! Â It's connected to Frankie & Georgie's (4 Wood Grille). Â
I came here opening night since it's always nice supporting lesbian places. Â The drink specials were great - $2 wells and $2 domestics. Â There was a free buffet but you can also order food from next door. Â This place is brand new and could use a little help with the decorating. Â It's currently really bare. Â I'm also not a fan of the name. Â It's listed as "Friends Bar" on facebook but the windows say "Friends Over the Rainbow". Â Either way - it needs to be changed. Â The music is from a TouchTunes machine but if no one puts any money in it then the bar goes silent. Â On the plus side, you don't have to wait long to hear your music play.
There was a great crowd opening night. Â I didn't have to wait too long for a drink. Â They do take credit cards. Â Everyone was really friendly. Â Plenty of seating at the glittery bar or in one of the booths. Â I would come back.
Almost forgot to mention - THIS PLACE IS SMOKE FREE!
