In my opinion the best dive bar in Milpitas. The regulars are nice enough to buy you drinks. Also, the bartender Sarah is super sweet and amazing. (Be sure to come in on her shift). The interior looks much more cleaned up then before hence to the new paint and more seating inside. There is karoake and a dj on select nights but otherwise they have a jukebox machine. If you are in a competitive mood, they also have darts and pool (and a new vending machine if you have the munchies). Had the pleasure of meeting the owners on multiple occasions. They are some of the kindest people one could meet and it is very apparent that they really care about their business. I will definitely be coming here again and again.

This is a great dive bar & no type of crowd to be exact which I love! Decent priced drinks & the blonde bartender ROCKS! She's cute, friendly & just overall awesome :) They now have a DJ which is pretty cool as well.

Sarah rox!  (:  tip her well.

Sometimes the music can be a little sketchy.  They have a jukebox and a wide range of clientele.

    Happy hour is fun.

It's truly a dive bar. Nothing fancy.

Newly remodeled dive bar.  It looks brighter in here.  Juke box, pool table, and cheap drink specials.  A casual environment to hang out at with friends.

Went to this bar to celebrate the break up with my girlfriend.  At first I was thinking that this was going to be a typical dive bar experience, but boy was I wrong.  The cute bartender poured strong drinks and the patrons (a little skeptical of me at first) were very kind and fun.  Great music with a mixed crowd!!!  I will definitely be back.

I know you should not expect so much from a dive bar so I am not but I am definitely NOT coming back. The minute we walked in, we got stares from people that it was kinda rude already. It made me feel like we were not welcome there, either that or they were just admiring my boots! :P

$12 for a Miller and a Margarita. My Margarita was OK. I could have ordered for another one but we had to chug our drinks fast and leave because the whole place stinks of what seemed to be some left over food. Seriously, I can still smell it even after minutes of getting out of the place.

So if you don't mind people giving you the look and you have a nose that's not working and this is the only dive bar close to you, then go ahead! Dive!

This place wasn't so bad, but I'm not "planning" a return visit. Which might even be true of all dive bars, you kinda end up there-its not the destination of the night.
    They have a pool table-$1.00.
You step outside and smoke and come right back in without being carded excessively. The bartender was an attractive who leaned in at just right angle to maintain the attention of my guy friend.
They had three TVs. My boyfriend called it a "biker bar" but there were only a couple biker types outside and mostly college-age couples dancing to the outrageously deafening music. There was a very enthusiastic DJ playing the kind of music that I would expect in a dance club. We went on a Saturday a little after midnight-so maybe it was a special dance night....? If it had been quieter, we would have stayed for more than one game of pool.

Very interesting dive bar. I don't live too far from here & have only been here twice. I must say though they do serve some proper drinks. Tricia made our drinks pretty strong. I would have given this place 5 stars but the sketchy characters in this hood kinda made me feel sketchy myself....have fun!!!!!!

Came with some friends, there was some argument, we decided to leave.  That about sums it up.  No one carded us at the entrance so I'm assuming they don't have a bouncer.

I randomly went to this spot the other night with my friends because one of them knew the bartender.  It's in some random dive-looking mini strip that randomly appears out of some upscale looking buildings, including a KFC that looks like a huge barn.  the mini strip is a random assortment of businesses that includes a sushi place, an asian massage parlor, a locksmith, and i think a granite manufacturing office?  i don't know, random.

we went on what was supposed to be karaoke night but it didn't seem like anybody was really into it.  the bar was your standard dive; darts, a jukebox and a lotto scratchers vending machine.  the beer was cheap and my buddy's friend who was working gave me a free shot.  the crowd looks shady, a wide assortment of thug looking dudes, old dudes, bros, and trashy chicks, but everybody seemed pretty chill, even when my friend went on the mic and blasted some 80's rock song in the midst of the club tracks they were pumping all night.  oh yeah, the music is really loud so don't expect to do a lot of casual talking inside the bar.

all in all, a standard dive.  not great, but definitely not bad.

As far as wee li'l dives go, this one is jam-packed with character. I'd always drive by this place and never gave it much thought, but after one fateful night in late '07, I'd find myself gravitating back to th' Galaxy more often during nights entirely devoted to hoppin' bars before things begin to blur.

I've yet to encounter an unfriendly crowd here. They have karaoke going on most nights and once in awhile you might luck upon a themed bachelorette party that would look totally out of place most anywhere else BUT here.

I first found Galaxy with the good ol bf when D& B lost their liquor license. So...we went here and had a nice time. It's the usual dive bar...nothing particular about it that makes it awesome but the bartender at the time was super cool & easy going & introduced us to 'flaming Dr. Peppers' & I burnt my hand because I dropped the shot glass because surprise surprise it was very hot! haha!..fire+alcohol+me= NO NO! =)

We came back to this place the other day before going to D&B and it's chill. It's always quiet(when i go) just the TVs on and people talking which is perfect for me. It's dimly lit which i love...just your typical dive.

This is definitely not what I expected from Milpitas hahah. My co-workers wanted to go here because they had karaoke. Unfortunately, I couldn't convince the girls to sing at the end! They became shy!

Galaxy definitely has their usuals and they were all a little out there but really friendly. They have specials for drinks that are pretty cheap. My friends had a decent time here. It's not the young crowd or club scene type of bar but I didn't mind stopping by there.

This is the place to go on a thursday night. Its a little dive bar in the corner on main st.  Lots of locals that love to have fun. Whats also great is that they have kareoke!!! who doesn't love that. The bartender reyna is great and sometimes sings too. I even got to sing a madonna song with her haha. Beware lots of cops around there during closing so drink responsibly

The sweet smell of VOMIT right when I step through the doors.. mmmMm... Good ol' Milpitas never fails.

This place reminds me of CHEERS! I assume everyone there knows your name, or if they don't, YOU will definitely know a few by the end of the night.

Demographic was very mixed. All ages & nationalities.  You can find your average businessman sitting right next to a person that looks like an ex-convict. We are all in our mid-twenties and my friend met an eithty-year old man singing KARAOKE!!!

Everyone together, singing Kumbaya and having a grand ol' time. 3 stars is just about right.

this bar is like my CHEERS.   I know alot of the people there and always feel welcomed by the crowd and the bartenders are fucking awesome.  even if ur new to the place i believe u will feel welcome and want to come back.  the bartenders rayna and courtney  are two of the best in the biz.  they know how to pour a drink for being as young as they are, i was pleasantly surprised when i tasted my drinks actually i was shocked i didnt think they had enough experience making drinks because of their age but these girls in the early twenties know how to pour a drink!  They make drinks way better then alot of older bartenders that have hella experience.  i used to be a bartender so when i say RAYNA AND COURTNEY know what they are doing i mean it.  so go down to the galaxy and tell them tammy said ur the bomb make me a drink!  i recommend the washington apple one of my favorites!

    Just your average dive bar...

Met up with some knock around friends from yester year here for a drink or 5. I enjoyed my time there simply because I had the fortunate benefit of knowing the bartender at the time. Hello Miss!

Came here on a recommendation from the bartender at Dave & Buster's when they gave up their liquor license for 10 days due some court case.

The place was pretty empty on a Wednesday evening but there was plenty of seating. We all had a few drinks away from the bar , just catching up on lives and so forth. The music was loud but it was good times.

Just another dive bar that's pretty chill.

Fun place and only dive bar in Milpitas, unless you include Frank's Place now without Frank.

Some numbnut named Mark brings his own pool cue to this place but he ain't no pool shark...After he has a few, you could beat him even with one arm in a sling.

You will meet interesting characters like Mark or as he is known among regulars, "Mr. Body Odor" and not in a good way...hee hee.

Friendly bartenders and good ol' PBR beer.

    Giddyup!

Watched the Mayweather vs. Marquez fight over here since they weren't charging a cover fee over here to watch it like how all other bars tend to charge people anywhere from $10-$25 over here, while Vegas charges folks like $50 to watch fights Live Circuit.  Small dive bar.  They got 3 flat screen TVs over here behind the bar.  The middle one had the boxing fight on and the 2 screens on the side were showing the UFC fights.  They don't card you at the door here.  Looks like they only have 1 or 2 bartenders who work here at any given time.  You can bring food in here.  They got a couple tables and video game boxes on top of those tables.  Place gets kind of hot.  Got some fans on the side.  Drink prices look average.  Place is a sausage fest.

Note:  Beware of short rowdy Mexican chicks with nice bodies that will refuse to STFU even after their Mexican guy Marquez got worked by the Pretty Boy.

Service was slow, supposedly because I had an old ID design.
This is a really small place. With some not all that savory customers.
I expected inexpensive drinks, but a Long Island Tea was your typical $8 - and not very strong or tasty at all.
The guy seated next to us kept talking about his sex life, the "wet side" of his bed, and was very persistent in asking the bartender to have his baby.
Despite this delightful atmosphere, I will not be back.

Woo hoo, karaoke. Headed over here after D&B's closed at midnight. Definitely an interesting place with lots of regulars. Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly.

Not bad for a dive bar, the drinks are cheap and strong. Bartenders were nice and I had a good time. There's also some arcade games and a pool table for entertainment if you're not drinking enough.

Ok, LOVE this bar.  Andrea (managing b-tender at Bogart's) took me here originally:  letting me know that back when she was 19 she and her girlfriend would stand in a corner of the Galaxy and make out.  Gotta love Andrea.

Anyway, Reina (or Rayna or Reyna) and Courtney are sweet, sexy and cool.  Not jaded yet.

Good pours, scary clientele, absolutely no windows.  A place to take someone if you want to be free of all pretension, and drink.

So guys:  when you come here, don't give these girls too much shit.  And DON"T think because they smile and their nice that they want you to verbally abuse them.  They are like that because they're genuinely nice gals.

5 stars because it is perfect.  And it's right next to a damn good sushi spot.  And a locksmith.

I used to come here all the time. Yes I was a freak alcoholic.........HOWEVER no more.

I feel so disrespected by the owner here that I cannot see me coming back. I have been a good patron, ($468 in the month of Feb and that's not counting cash) and even helpful when short handed. I guess spending a lot of money and actually caring about the bar, bartenders and even the owners isn't worth shit.

    Drama Drama Drama

I will miss you Courtney you sexy bitch, Killer the KJ, patrons of whom there are too many to name! Kisses and until we meet and drink at another bar.... this weekend HA

One of the best bars in Milpitas!  The drinks are cheap and the people are not scary.  The regulars at this bar are all extremely friendly and welcoming.  They don't give you nasty glances like some of the other sketchy people who hang out in dive bars.  It is a cool place to come chill with a few friends, and maybe shoot some pool.  I tend to avoid this place on karaoke nights because the place is small and wreaks havoc on my delicate eardrums.

A total dive bar with a great cast of characters, especially the KJ. When I introduced myself to him at the beginning of the evening, he said his name was "Killer."

    Yes, Galaxy has "Killer's Karaoke."

That plus some cheap drinks and a nice enough crowd, and well, all is A-OK.

Oh yes, I'm mos'def a fan of anywhere random people will buy you drinks just for sitting next to them. It probably helps that I have boobs, but hey - free drinks, are free drinks.... and I think all parties involved knew that our pleasantries would only extend to the point of a high 5. Possibly.

It's kinda hard to find, but that's ok, I don't want any DnB lovers to find their way here.

Everytime I go here, the bartenders have had to throw out a very inebriated patron or two. In which case, said patron usually just lingers around the front door... cause in drunk-speak, the doorway IS home.

Points for the juke box, touch screen games with the naughty pictures and pool table. Luvs it! Don't eat the popcorn, the bowl just gets passed around and not emptied to frequently. I'm a huge fan of washing my hands, but EEk.....

Drinks are cheap and stiff! Oh... and be sure to donate a dollar to the wall. Living in infamy at Galaxy is all I care about in this world.

Before I go, be careful leaving Galazy, Mipitas PD like to case the joint.

So let's review: free drinks from toof'less guys = creepy, but fun. Hard to find but better than DnB's. Bring your own popcorn. WASH YOUR HANDS!! Naughty picture game!!! Leave a dollar on the wall and a couple on the bar. Take a cab. =D

If you know where Galaxy is, I am sorry to admit this -- congratulations for being really ghetto. And awesome.

It is one the last dive bars in Milpitas.  When you walk in, you will know it is a dive bar...they have dollar bills plastered all over their walls.  You will see the locals and you will get to meet the lovely bartenders.

The best thing about this place are the drinks.  Freaking cheap!  And they give you a lot of alcohol.  I hate DnBs...that is why I go to Galaxy.  Less people and more alcohol.

Also, I got to name a drink there -- The Pear DaSizzle.  I have no idea what was in it...but Reyna was awesome for making it!

    Decently Priced Drinks  - $
    Hot Bartenders - $$$
    Cool Owners - $$
Walking Distance From Home  - Priceless

The Galaxy is the kind of bar you go to to hang out with the locals, get coerced into twice as many drinks as you planned, tip the bartender extra so she'll put an extra shake into you drink, stick around for the restaurant crews to roll through, and if you're not an ass, get invited to the after-party so you can hate life the next day, but know it was worth it.

    In Summary: Good Times.

Choice location: right near the freeway exit. Convenient, almost too convenient. Agreed with the others, this is probably most dive bar I have been to in the east bay. They were blasting top 40 stuff /w ample of rap and r&b. But judging from the crowd, I think country music would have worked better. Also on the whiteboard, there was a scribble that read: "Come out tonight to celebrate Michelle's birthday!!!" If you ever read this Michelle, we were there for you.

And oh yes, the drinks were cheap! Washington apples. Yum.

Galaxy is a little dive bar located in a run down strip mall a few blocks from the Great Mall.  The crowd is very diverse and the patrons are very friendly.  You can enjoy the jukebox, pool table, computer card games and karaoke depends on what mood you are in.  The karaoke on Thursday night and boy that DJ can sing Johnny Cash! There's food on Sunday afternoon (don't ask me why I was there on a Sunday afternoon).  Drinks are cheap and the bathroom is always clean so that;s a plus.  It is definitely one of my favorite dive in Milpitas.

Total dive in Milpitas...definitely nothing like the crowd you'll find at Dave & Busters on a Saturday night.  Drinks are cheaper.  They did play top 40 music though.  First time I've ever seen a PREGNANT bartender...but I guess it just worked at this bar.

My 100th review. I'm so proud!

My experiences with dive bars is practically nil, so forgive my lack of reference point.

Let's go through my dive bar checklist, shall we?

    1. Out of the way location. Check!
    2. Located in a rundown strip mall. Check!
    3. Disreputable characters loitering in the parking lot. Check!
    4. Pool table. Check!
    5. Jukebox. Check!
    6. Pregnant (I think) and young bartendress. Check!
    7. Surprisingly clean bathroom. Happily-Check!
    8. Belvedere on the shelf. CHECK!!
    9. Strong pour. DOUBLE CHECK!!!

I didn't have a clue on costs because my drink was paid for, but I'm assuming it was very reasonable. I would definitely pay a return visit, but I wouldn't go alone, fo' sho'.

I haven't been feeling very Yelpy lately. Don't know why, just haven't been feeling the computer and Yelp's seductive urge too much as of late....

But a festive little trip to this place put me in the mood...

Yep yep this little dive is a gem. Perhaps it was the gin I sipped. I'm not a huge gin drinker. Nope. I'll drink it but when I do I enjoy it. And take damn near forever to finish it. I know it's annoying to some but me and gin take a very kind, cautious and appreciative approach to our relationship. It's how we are. And it let's me be observant for to stuff to write about.

There is definatly a sense of community in this place. Everyone seems to know everyone and they're cool with new faces too. They've packed as much as they could into a small space--pool table, darts, one of those jukeboxes that you can find almost anything under the sun on. Don't you hate it when the search engine comes up empty...it's like "no damn it! I know this song exists! I'm sure of it! Watch I'll sing it to you now! La la la la la! Now you sing it back to me the way I want you to!"

Speaking of singing, a couple of nights a week they do kareoke. After a few beers, I do kareoke. I've gotten over my dislike of kareoke I've carried for the last few years (long story short: coworker helped run a kareoke company as a 2nd job, she practiced A LOT at her 1st job=one pissy little V). I won't reveal what horrifying selections were chosen but damn you alcohol and damn both of the guilty parties involved!!!

As far as the alcohol selections go I gotta be honest, they don't have much in terms of beer on tap (3 taps and one is Budwiser?!? Raise your hand I'm confused) and not a huge list of options for bottle. In fact judging by the amount of Budwiser advertisement posters and that oh yeah there was a keg of it in the bathroom (?!?) they sell a lot of it. They do carry a healthy liquor selection though.

There also a random Happy Birthday banner hanging above the bar. I don't know why but this makes me happy. And so did this place for a random Tuesday night out.

Need a shot on Sunday morning (10 am) after attending 9 o'clock mass?

"It's such a beautiful day!  Let's go to the Mystery Spot."  Okay...
but first we needed to alter our senses.  So, we go to the bar down the street from church.

It's cute.  The bartender was talking to the biker guy about Harley's.  So my friend decides to join in the conversation and talks about his Escalade.  They're cool people, so they just let him talk.  But then the rounds begin.  So we're buying the biker guy a round, and then he returns the favor, and it keeps going.....

Did we make it to the Mystery Spot? Yes.
Did I make it through the Mystery Spot? No.

Stay tuned for my Mystery Spot review.
