Review Source:EDIT: Â This place is now called Red Door Tavern. Â It has the same owner and same weird atmosphere (think church youth group setting mixed with a bar - hard to explain). Â
This place used to have great food. Â I don't know what happened though! Â We used to order the delicious portabella philly sandwiches almost every weekend along with the jalapeno pimento cheese tater tots. Â Slowly the food quality has gotten worse and worse and worse until one night we order our traditional Garden Deli food to be delivered. Â What shows up is a really sad BEEF philly, not portabella, even though we ALWAYS order that and they know us on the phone. Â We aren't ultra vegetarian, but we try to keep our meat choices few and far between and usually better quality beef than just nasty store-bought packaged roast beef. Â This sandwich was so horrible though! Â Just a nasty cold glob of purple and green roast beef on a stale sandwich with a little bit of iceberg lettuce and old tomatoes. Â The tater tots were cold too and the cheese wasn't even melted. Â
As for the actual restaurant, we have always gotten our food delivered except for a handful of times. Â The place itself is really awkward. Â You have to go up rickety stairs to get in there, then once you do the bar area is set up in a strange fashion. Â Also, if you pay with a credit card, you will be using some strange bartender's cellphone to complete the transaction (with choice of leaving a tip at set percentages - wtf?).
