Uncle Louie's

I'm not sure who Louie is and who he's the uncle of but if you are looking for a good time with cheap drinks, good music, and good company t.

What started out as a sketch bar (from what a friend of mine called it) its become a watering hole for Columbia locals from all walks.  I can still remember walking in there every other weekend with hardly anybody in there except for the regular bar flies.  Since then the crowd has increased in numbers and for good reason, has slowly become one of the best dive bars in Columbia.  You and date can get a good buzz on for around $25 depending on what you drink ($1.25 Natty Lights is their claim to fame).  But if poor mans beer (and the subsequential god awful hangover that follows) isn't what you want then go for one of their on tap beers

What gives this place a 5 star rating is the bar service.  These guys are fast and friendly.  I once stopped into Louies ordered a beer and opened up a tab on my card.  Something came up and I had to leave after just one beer.  I told the bartender that I was sorry about tabbing out after just one round and he said don't worry about and that the first round was on him.

Won't find that kind of service at Sharkeys I promise you that much.

This place is solid.  Anywhere that has $2.50 Fat Tire pints is fine with me... I paid $4 the night before in Charlotte.  If macroswill is more your taste, they have $1.25 bottles of Natty Light all the time.

I don't know if Uncle Louie's is even open anymore, but for a time (we'll say the first six months of 2001 -- or my last six months in Columbia), this was the default haunt of a bunch of friends & I. I miss $1.25 longnecks of PBR, cheap & delicious chicken finger baskets, & hours of darts & billiards. Plus it has the distinction of being the place where I bought my first legal drink upon turning 21 (of course, at that time it was known as "The Last Stop").
