We were in Grass Valley to attend a concert, but spent a long part of the day walking around the town. We stopped in to Gary's Place on a whim for a drink and glad we did.
It was fun. The service was great, the bar is eclectic and with lots of typical dive bar wall decorations.
The drinks were serviced fast and strong, and they had a pretty good beer selection. The great lady behind the bar even recommended a great place to go for dinner that night.
Next time we are in Grass Valley we will go back!
Worst customer service in town! If you want a great drink to sip while you sit in a discriminatory atmosphere, this place may be for you. Rude customer service, careless managment, prejudice bar; I don't recommend it to anyone at all! Try Main St or Holbrook if looking for friendly accepted service in downtown grass valley. Pretty sad business when it caters to a select group of people. I believe the civil rights act was passed in the 1970s!!!
Review Source:The bar gets a "4" cause it's small with bright lights but the bartender Sarah gets a "5" for rock star service. Â Ask for an Absolut Citron Kamikaze -- the BEST in town. Â Gary's is cool for meeting friends & locals (their slogan is "The place where good friends meet". Â You'll see all walks of life there. Â Make sure to eat before you go though -- I suggest Pete's Pizza around the corner or The Owl Grill a few doors down for a good burger.
