The Stonehouse is offering great musical entertainment, plays, poetry nights, and open mic events.
Synthetic Unlimited has teamed with the Stonehouse to offer an evening of entertainment. Â I have attended three performances. Â The acting was superb. Â Dinner, music, and drinks are offered before the plays and more musical entertainment after the play. Â The food has been excellent.
I was looking into wedding reception venues and stumbled across the Stonehouse Restaurant. Â After walking around the outside and peeking in the windows, I was really excited about this venue! Â It has a lovely patio area, two floors inside, and a wine cave outside. Â It is currently only available for special events, so there wouldn't be other diners present while we held our event. Â I emailed Stonehouse and DeAnna wrote back and was initially very friendly and helpful. Â Basically, you could rent the space from 10am-midnight, starting at $2900 (includes tables and chairs). Â The info on their brochure didn't quite match the info on their website or the info that she was emailing me (some places it said a 12 hr rental, some places 14 hr rental, some places it said no catering available, other places it said that you were required to use their catering), so I asked for a clean copy of their actual contract to make sure of what I was getting. Â I also requested photos of the interior of the building, as there aren't many online. Â While I was waiting to hear back from DeAnna, I started speaking to wedding planners in the area (to book one of them as well). Â A couple of the local ones started warning me that Stonehouse is quite flaky. Â Supposedly the owner is attempting to lease the space to a restaurant (their website actually shows that), but they don't really highlight the fact that it may not be under their control in the near future (if a new tenant moves in and your event isn't until next year... you may be out of luck). Â One of the planners warned to read your contract carefully with them, as details are often not what they seem. Â Anyway, I sent several follow-up emails to DeAnna asking for the updated contract/info and photos. Â After a week, she said she had a family emergency and would write back later. Â It's now been a month and I've never heard back from anyone again at Stonehouse... maybe they got a restaurant tenant and now don't want to hear from wedding parties?? Â I don't know, but if they are this unreliable BEFORE they get your money, I can only imagine how it'd be AFTER they get your money. Â Be careful if you choose to book with them (though the wine cave and outdoor patio are cool!)...
PS. To those having over about 75 guests: the two dining rooms are fairly small, so depending on your wedding party size, you'll have to have everyone in two separate places, which is kind of a bummer (I was having a small wedding, so didn't matter to me). Â There's a youtube video of someone's wedding videography at Stonehouse - gives you an idea of what it looks like inside. Â Due to the small size, most weddings are set up to have two dining rooms upstairs and a dance floor downstairs (kind of a negative for us as the older guests would want to sit at their tables after dinner and watch the young people dance).
