Been to The Gear twice, both times the vocals are so buried you can t hear a single thing they are singing. Thought maybe first time was just a fluke, guess not. If you just want to go to hear live music you can't understand, even if you know the band, this is your place. If you want live music with a good mix and good PA, this isn't your place.

chunk, chunk....... melody, melody, melody, breeeee chunk chunk....... (this is the sound of a heavy hardcore beat, you can use this if you like.)

The Gear is a fantastic music venue located about 20 min south of Indy. Its location is almost right off of the interstate and its easily accessible. Here is some demographic info about this music meka.

First, its ALL AGES! However, that doesn't mean the place is only littered with a bunch of 12 year old middle schoolers who are to cool for school and have no idea how to have fun at a show. In fact its quite the opposite, The Gear runs a family friendly venue with 3 main rules. Keep it fun, fresh, and family friendly. Due to the fact this is also where the host The Current Church, the venue is really an awesome friendly environment without the bro pass needed. However, this doesn't mean that they book strictly Christian rock bands, or one genre for that matter. Typically, more hardcore music is played at The Gear, but more rock n roll, punk rock, and indie acts are frequenting The Gear stage regularly.

    The specs:

The building is a leased old building that has been renovated and provides a great ambient environment for any show. When I tell you that they also hold a church here, blind your expectations. This building looks nothing like a typical church, there is no sanctuary, gym, lobby, nothing of the sort. You simply walk in, and its go time for a show.

The sound system is top flight. I myself am in a local band and have played all around Indiana and with no reservation what so ever I can confidently say that this is the best sound system I have ever played on. Also, the sound guys actually work with the bands so that the music doesn't sounds like poo.

Finally, the talent that The Gear brings in is awesome. Almost weekly they are loaded with national touring bands and most shows only cost 7-10 bucks. All in all, do yourself a favor and go support local and national music and go see a show. DE END
