It was 6 pm on a Tuesday. Service was friendly but the food was mediocre. We ordered the turkey sandwich and the blue cheese bacon burger cooked medium (without the bun-gluten free).
The burger was well done and had to be cut with a sharp knife and the turkey sandwich was just OK. Â
Cost us $30 and next time we"ll eat in Minden.
Good food but it took an hour and a half to get it. Â We were there for a private dinner with 35 others in our group (we had the whole teeny place). All we ordered was a hot dog and chicken strips. I ordered a margarita from the bar and it was pretty weak. The bartender/owner had to keep looking up drinks in his Bartending for Dummies book. I am not kidding and won't be going back! :(
Review Source:This will be my second review and most important one. Â Our first time there was so much fun we decided to request that the owners allow us a couple hours to celebrate Mother's Day the day after our destination wedding. Â Not only did they go above and beyond in calling me to confirm their plans, they closed down the whole joint for our guests and made sure everyone was treated like family. Â The food was outstanding, the cute celebration sign for us out front made us feel special and Candace and her parents and Grandma are the sweetest family ever!! Â They made our wedding weekend end on a spectacular note and made all our guests feel treasured. Â
And the food...amazing and wonderfully like home cooking! Â I am telling you, the French Toast is to die for!!!!
Visiting the area we decided to try this place due to the great reviews on Yelp. Â Unfortunately the first attempt did not work out. Â Due to my stupidity! (I'm not a morning person but hubby got me up early to come here and have breakfast) Â Well there were cars parked all out front so we parked in front of the building next door on the left of the place and with the curtains in the windows and the fact it was 8:30am, Â I walked up the front porch and looked at the consignment store door which is right next door in same building. The hours listed were 10:30 am (ish) I thought it being a small town that they came in later LOL. Â I have no idea why I never looked over to the other side....being early in the AM and the fact it looks as though there is only one business in the building we left. Â Seeing the hours on the door (of the Consignment store) we decided to try again the next day just later in the morning. Â
So this time we walk right up to the door (Consignment Store) and open door and realize right away something is wrong Ha Ha DUH!! Â Well needless to say we were told it was next door. Â Imagine my horror when I realized that I missed breakfast the morning before and they were open all along. Â Oh boy. Â Well anyway we walk in and on the left is a bar and to the right a seating area like a old up class living room. Â Walk about 1/2 way back and there is a dining room with pretty tables, all different styles and sets. Â The lady was so welcoming and laughed when she heard our story of missing them the day before. Â There is a lot of history in this old town of Genoa and they have many pictures and reading materials about the rich history of the area. Â Service was spectacular and I knew I should have ordered the French toast especially after reading the reviews but I opted for a more protein filled breakfast and had my husband order them so I could try. Â Oh my they were AMAZING!! Â My breakfast was nothing special scrabbled eggs and hash browns which were not crispy. Â So learn from me, splurge and get the French toast its totally worth the carb overload! Â I would have loved to come one evening and hung out at the bar, seems like it would have been a great place to talk to the locals. Â We will for sure be back next time we are in the area. Especially now that we know where the door is! Â (so embarrassed man was my face red....... but honest reviews need to include honest stupidity)
"The Youngest Bar in Genoa!"
The Genoa Station Bar and Grill is located in the space formally occupied by the Tahoe Ridge Winery Tasting Room. It's located next to the historic Raycraft Dance Hall, now known as the Genoa Town Hall. Gayle and I enjoyed an outdoor spot here during the 2012 Genoa Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival. Our experience was limited to a couple rounds of adult beverages and in the company of several of Gayle's relatives, all with former and/or current Genoa pedigree.
Since we'll be moving here somewhere in an estimated 3-5 year time frame, having a built in Community to move into is a good thing. At the same time, this is a small town and stories about this and that come easily and not always in a positive manner. It's a good thing I don't have a long memory (yet) of all things Genoa. But in the meantime, we all had a great time talking and enjoying each other's company.
The inside Bar service was a little slow during our visit, but the outside service was down home friendly and welcoming. I look forward to future visits and the associated local hospitality. I'm not ready for retirement, but I am ready for Genoa.
My husband and I had a delicious lunch here last Saturday. The food was beautifully prepared, presented and served hot. We both chose a hamburger - the meat was of quality and perfectly cooked. Yummmmm!
We also had a couple of beverages prior to our meal. My husband wasn't sure which beer to choose (they have some out of the ordinary choices) and was given a sample without having to ask. Full selection of drinks.
Service was friendly and efficient.
I highly recommend you give The Genoa Station Bar and Grill a try. You won't be disappointed.
After reading all the great reviews, I'm convinced our visit must have been an anomaly. Â
We stopped by Saturday around 2pm following up the end of the lunchtime rush. Â Prior to the rush, the mgr (owner?) had sent a server home because it was so slow. Â The remaining three staff members were exceptionally nice and courteous, but unable to visit our table to take an order for 15-20 minutes; even after having stood up and approached all three of them at various times during our wait. Â Finally, one of the three returned (apparently a table busser, having been meritoriously promoted to server), to take our order, which I give credit for innovation.
The menu offered lots of choices, and we ordered a veggie burger from the burger section of the menu. Â
Without waiting too long, the server returned with the veggie burger all alone (and I assume unafraid) on the plate. Â I asked about the statement on the menu which said, "ALL BURGERS come with fries or coleslaw", but was told that this did not apply to the veggie BURGER. Â Not a big of deal, but for $11, I was a bit surprised that fries or slaw were not included. Â Oh well, live and learn.
So after a minute of contemplation, we then realized we hadn't received our silverware or drink, so we gently requested those items from the server (again she was as nice as can be) who then returned in short-order with the requested items. Â Oddly enough, the table adjacent to ours had experienced the same problem of not having silverware delivered with the meal. Â
As for the veggie burger, it was a bit under-cooked (a little mushy), but was served on a delicious onion roll.
In closing, I think the lovely owners were just recovering from the lunch rush, so based on the idyllic setting and the impressive reviews, I'd expect to eventually return for another visit.
Ate lunch here for the first time today. Â My wife had the special which was sweet potato bun with spicy bbq beef and apple cabbage coleslaw, a side salad with house vinaigrette. Â It was delicious. Â I had the French Dip. Â Very tasty, lean roast beef on a good roll. Â We'll be making this one of our regular places to eat.
Review Source:My husband and I went to lunch here yesterday. Â My husband had the Station Burger and said it was probably the best burger he'd ever had. Â I had the pastrami and it was equally outstanding. Â Our server, Candy, was friendly and attentive. Â They're open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and were were told they make a "mean" bloody mary with breakfast. Â We'll definitely be back to give it a try. Â This is our new favorite local spot to eat.
Review Source:Wonderful! Â This is my new favorite place to dine in Carson Valley, perhaps in all of Northern Nevada. Â The atmosophere is akin to dining in a nice farmhouse kitchen. Â The food is great, hospitality charming, the service is friendly and all at a good value. Â The salads are lush and exceedingly fresh, and all of their entrees are abundant and attractively served. Â There are many healthy choices to select from, as well as heartier selections. (They have the best onion rings I have ever tasted)! Â Genoa Station and Bar earns a full five stars. Â Enjoy!

I saw that this new restaurant opened a few weeks ago and just now got a chance to try it out. Looks like they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We came for lunch. This used to be the old Tahoe Ridge tasting room, so there is a very large wood bar as you enter the room on the left. Looks like a full bar is available, (well , this IS Nevada!). Me and my BF had the station burgers, which is a burger with cheese, avacado and bacon, plus the usual lettuce tomato and onion. Served with french fries for $10.95. Our food arrived quickly and without issues. The service is very friendly. I had my doubts on this burger at first, as on the menu it said a 1/4 lb patty. I'm more of a 1/2 pounder girl myself, but OK I'll give it a try. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. If thay had stuffed a 1/2 pound patty in that burger, I might have not been able to fit it in my mouth! Served the way it was, you still gotta open wide. There was BBQ sauce inside too. The whole burger worked well, taste wise. This burger is more about the whole taste, rather then the meat itself. Â I did notice the cheese was not of the garden varity of sliced American, but grated chedder with a real cheddery taste. I like that! The bacon was thick cut and well flavored. My fries were done perfect. I don't think they were from fresh cut potatoes, but tasted great anyway. Besides the food, when I go out, I really rate on the whole experience, from food, service and atmosphere, even the restrooms if need be. The atmosphere and feel of this new restaurant is very country comfortable. The food seems to be right on the mark so far. I still need to try breakfast. I would say this is a welcome addition to the Genoa scene, such as it is. I will be back.
