It's a saloon, your expectations should be low. If they are you will be happy. Expect classic rock, blue collar, stories about life being hard, jail stories, and cheap beer.

My friends and I, looking for a close place to rifle back some beer, wandered into George's Saloon. We're usually the type of people to frequent North Park, so when I'm in an East County bar I'm perpetually shoehorned into the situation by unknown forces.

The patrons there, draped in overalls and John Deere garb, tossed down glasses of Budweiser as they howled unintelligible jargon to each other. The situation reeked of stereotyping, which I'm generally hesitant to comply to, but the wifebeaters and alt-rock music solidified the whole Santee vibe pretty quickly.

The bartender was nice enough, as she slung glasses to the barflies, keeping a good attitude all the while.

The beers consist of Bud, Coors, Miller. If you're expecting a craft beer, you're bound to get an underhanded snicker from at-least one regular.

I really wouldn't recommend this place, unless you want a dude with a Creed tattoo to sneer at you while he hits on a twenty-something girl with a fake country drawl. But if you do manage to find yourself compelled by activities such as "Red Neck Night", I suggest you plop down on one of the stools, plunk a coin into the jukebox, and start singing "Let the bodies hit the floor" with the rest of the gang at George's.

On a side note: Why does this bar carry fantasy novels with titles such as "Dragon Lord"? Oh how the enigma continues.

Do not go to this place !!
    It is a Peckerwood bar...
Tatoo-ed losers that have anger issues.
Near riot with me and my two employees because we were laughing out loud having a good time.
One dude nutted up and his "bro" with tats on his neck were getting all riled up.
The kind of punks that dont fight fair and would stick a knfe in your lung.
Screw this scumbag, punk riddled skin head dump.

You ever get the feelin you're about to get lynched?  No?  Maybe it's just me.  All I ever hear about Santee is there are KKK members here.  Hence "Klantee."  Well as far as dive bars go this is certainly a dive.  I'm all for dive bars.  Just not ones where I get sideways stares.  This place has got the all the characters.  The local drunk.  The regular old guy who hits on the bartender.  Had his gangsta wad on the bar.  Social Security check musta came in.  Strange old lady in the corner.  Oh, and the local Klan members.  Kiddin.  Dunno really.  Bunch of good ole boys with the random "you're not from around here, are ya..." look.

I like dive bars but I felt a bit uncomfortable here.  Not because I was a minority.  Well... yes because I was a minority.  I wasn't feelin the vibe and certainly you can feel it in the air.  I'm from TX and I've chilled in Honky Tonks and country bars and felt totally at ease.  I wasn't even wearin a cowboy hat.

Obviously, no incident.  I gave the place three stars.  Chill but my experience was uncomfortable, not that it was the bar's fault.
