I love that this place is owned by a young, super hard working couple! The ambience is chic natural, flea market flip meets edison bulb decor. I kind of want to hire the wife to decorate my house... I digress.
Had happy hour with a friend- the ambience was totally laid back and easy. They also own the coffee shop next door which was their O.G. business. The husband shared that's why they call this place "Next Door". I ordered white sangria and it was scrumptious! Not to mention I'm a sucker for mason jars that happens to contain sangria- can this place be any cuter???
My friend and I ordered food- I got a quesadilla thing that was tasty and my friend got a fresh salad. No complaints with quality, flavor and unexpected food experiences! Nice work!
Only strange thing- since the coffee shop was their first business, I think they use that building's kitchen and they literally walk the food a few hundred feet on the actual sidewalk between buildings along El Cajon Blvd. It's a little unique so don't be wierded out when you see your plate come in the front door. This has become a high ranking happy hour spot. Bravo!
The owners have saved the 'hood and given us hope with their artful restorations of two buildings on the 7200 block of El Cajon, which now house The Treehouse Coffee Co. and Next Door. Â
Nice neighborhood atmosphere, good food ( $10 flat bread happy hour is a deal), good wine.  My friend ordered the pork, apple, pesto (name?) flatbread. I was not eager to try it  but it was delicious.  Some of the other appetizers seemed a bit on the small side, not that we need bigger portions!
