Hubby and I shared a giant burger and tots and each had a drink. Â Only one bartender as it was in the middle of the day with very few customers, but everything worked out fine. Â Friendly service albeit somewhat slow, but considering one employee served as bartender and cook, Â you can't expect a whole lot else.
Review Source:After spending much of the Fall season driving by this place, I was dying to get in and check it out. Â Me and my girl finally stopped in for some burgs n' beer. Â The dark wood slats and cool "Ghost Hole" signage right in the heart of Garibaldi had piqued my interest for too long.
There was a nice L-shaped bar and circular tables surrounding a few support beams in the middle of the room with people watching the game on one of the many TV's hanging above. Â We chose a table over near the windows facing the street. Â They had some folding tables and chairs tucked back in the corner and a vacuum cleaner along with some other knick-knacks which were sort of a visual let-down at first.
The food was great and service was great! Â The burger was served on a plate full of fries and other fixings with a knife straight down through the middle. Â The burger was juicy and cooked to perfection on a doughy roll made right across the street at the local bakery. Â I had a nice, tall, cold draft accompanying my food as usual. Â There was just one little girl working behind the bar, but she was right on top of everyones service and constantly looking over to see if we needing anything. Â Well done on her part!
This is a great place to warm up after a day out fishing on the bay or even if just passing through on your way along the coast.
Wow, did they ever treat us right!
We were staying down the street as part of a winter break getaway. There are exactly two bars in town. This is the one everyone goes to when the other closes, which seems like it's pretty early. The locals and bartender were really friendly and welcoming, we had an amazing time hanging out there. It was pretty quiet on a thursday, but I hear there is some AMAZING karaoke on the weekends. If you're in Girabaldi, don't miss this place!
It makes me so happy that The Ghost Hole has Yelp reviews.
I grew up spending a good portion of my childhood in Garibaldi at the Old Mill Marina with my grandparents, so as an adult I had to bring the new hubs to Garibaldi (complete with Tillamook side trip) and we stopped by the Ghost Hole for a beer and bite.
Good fries, really amazing bread on my sandwich and a cute patio complete with water feature ;)
Also - the beer was a much better selection than I expected from a dodgy old man bar in Garibaldi. And cheap. Fun good ole oregon lottery trashy poker machines as well. The old man bar experience isn't complete without wasting a few dollars on the Oregon lottery ;)
Ah, takes me back to the days when the 'Garibaldi Days' parade would pass down main street throwing out saltwater taffy...
The Ghost Hole is one of those places that I would guess few tourists would venture in to, but we did and I was pleased. My wife and I were on the Oregon coast for a few days and were looking for a burger and a cold one to end our day of driving up and down Hwy 1.
The Ghost Hole Public House looked like a place we'd find both and we were right. Cold beer served quickly, burgers that were above average and not served so quickly, and some good conversation with the locals who I assume were the regular crowd. I felt like I was at Garibaldi's version of Cheers and we felt right at home.
Will definitely wander in there again if we make it back.
hot fried food, cold beer of many flavors and a super sweet, friendly staff, I love this place. My friends and I usually end my fishing or crabbing mornings there in the mid afternoon and order food and drinks, good times. Wish I had more days that ended up as afternoons at the Ghost Hole.
Review Source:Not exactly your stereotypical Valentine's Day culinary destination, but a perfect end to our winter at the coast weekend.
Cold micros on tap, solid hand-formed burgers with all the fixins, a healthy serving of piping hot fries, and a heaping helping of local color in the form of an inebriated gentleman lamenting about his relationship with his son, and then pondering the merits of continuing his bender at the bar down the street.
I love Garibaldi.
Let me just say straight up that if you're ever near Garibaldi on a Saturday night you owe it to yourself to come here for Janice and Bob's Fun Time Karaoke. Don't even think twice about it--you'll thank me later. I've been to karaoke bars in San Francisco and Portland, and this was by far the best.
We wandered in here after an hour or two at the neighboring establishment, and immediately upon entry we were treated to the experience of Janice absolutely KILLING Mary J Blige's "Family Affair." Janice, of the aforementioned Fun Time Karaoke, is a white momish women in her 50s or 60s, and her partner Bob is a grey-haired man who's maybe a bit older. Since the bar wasn't very busy when we walked in and no one else wanted to sing, they immediately followed that up with a stunning duet of "Sexyback", complete with grinding. Everyone I was with was looking around at each other in complete disbelief about how awesome they were, and it only got better when they did "Pokerface." At this point the bar got busier and dudes from Woodburn started requesting shitty Seven Mary Three songs, so Janice and Bob didn't do too many more. But if you can manage to catch them at the right time it's mind-blowingly awesome.
Also, could this place possibly have a better name? The answer is clearly and unequivocably no. I would really love to know the story behind it, though.
I drove by the Ghost Hole last weekend and really wanted to go in, but alas, we were short on time. Â So, a week later, popping in was priority numbah one! Â
Matt E and I decided to extend the Patio Tour to the Coast, and the Ghost Hole boasts an awesome one. Â They had a lovely garden patio, with a fountain, lovely flowers, a stage I assume is used for live music, and a BBQ. Â I'll bet the Ghost Hole gets crackin' at night, every booze hound in the town is probably there. Â
I had the veggie burger (classic Gardenburger variety) and fries, Matt E had a real burger with super thick-cut pepper bacon and cheese. Â We were starving and sat and mowed down those burgers like it was our last meal on earth. Â The fries were awesome. Â The onion rings were not-so-good, but that's ok. Â Noteworthy were the burger buns, and the waitress let us know they were from the bakery right up the street. Â
Coupla burger plates, coupla brewskies, we were outta there for around $20. Â Really friendly people, too! Â Best non-food part of the meal was eavesdropping on the table behind us, peeps were planning what is sure to be an awesome swingers party, soundtrack to which was promised to be Peter Tosh, Keb Mo', and Taj Mahal: HOT. Â Ghost Hole: Â facilitating burgers, pizza, and love connections at the coast since 1990-something...
