My husband and I celebrated his birthday here last night and from start to finish the night was wonderful.  We are in the midst of a heat wave, so food isn't really on the top of my mind during the heat but I am so glad I had an appetite for this meal! We had reservations (which I recommend making) at 7 but got to the restaurant early as I heard its nice to walk around the grounds. Because of the 95 degree temps we choose to go to the bar instead of a walk! :-) I wanted something cool and refreshing and they had the perfect option - a cucumber mint martini that hit the spot.  We got to the table (by the windows...thank you hostesses!) and started with the crab dip  It was cheesy and yummy. The top was browned to perfection.  My husband and I both got steaks, he the sirloin and I got the filet.  He ordered the béarnaise sauce but ended up not using it as the steak was so flavorful! It had a great sear and was cooked to a perfect medium.  I topped my filet with the blue cheese butter.  The steak melted in my mouth!  It could have been cut with a butter knife it was so tender.  I have had some amazing steaks.....and this was by far the best steak of my life.  We finished with dessert - I had the chocolate pots de creme... the salted carmel on this was amazing! My husband had the blueberry crisp...and both were so fresh and delicious.  I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for fine dinning, over the top quality, amazing service and a relaxed atmosphere!
Review Source:This place is excellent. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because they still need to improve their management of people when it's busy. Busy is good, but you need to manage that better.
But, that being said, this place is fantastic. The food is amazing, they have a great selection of wine and full bar (good scotch selection too). We enjoy coming here and always leave more than satisfied.
There are always key things I look for to check quality. Pick things you know well for yourself on how it really should be and then order them (Filet, scallops, wine) as indicators of quality. They nail it here every time.
MAKE A RESERVATION....I cannot stress this enough as without it you are waiting. Not always a bad thing if you don't mind hanging out at the bar (which can be fun) but it's small so gets crowded very quickly.
The views outside are very nice (old farm land). And they have a private lot for parking which helps as well. They host weddings to keep that in mind when you go on the weekends as it gets very crowded (even more so).
You can go casual but we go business casual traditionally.
But worth going, again and again.
I had never been here, despite working down the street for a year. The grounds are beautiful and it's totally worth getting there early and walking them. A friend told me there's a castle (!) in the back somewhere you can hike to, but bring sneakers. Instead of all that walking/hiking nonsense I got there early and went to the bar.
It's got a nice open vibe to it, kind of ranch-resort-ish with high ceilings and a lot of wood beamage and iron thingys and a wooden antelope right in the middle of it all. And I imagine the fireplace is a sight to behold when they fire it up. Nice interior.
Staff was knowledgeable  and acted like they were happy to see me, which never happens. Very good staff here, from the bartender to the wait staff.
We started with the crab dip, which was very reasonably priced considering how much crab was in it. It was very good and was a reasonably sized app for four. As good as the crab in it was, the cheese baked on top was the real star.
I had a rib-eye with parsnip  gratin and mushrooms, my girlfriend had aged sirloin with mushrooms and something else. I forget. I didn't take notes.
The sirloin was the superior of the two steaks, but bot were excellent and perfectly prepared. The sides were also great, with the gratin being my personal favorite.
We finished with choc pots de crème with salted caramel and a GHG coffee which were both just perfect.
All in all, really really good from top to bottom. I'd give it four and a half stars if I could. It loses half a star because one of the field cows looked at me and then looked away dismissively.
