Place is a dump. Nothing but trashy locals that try to start fights.

Its the security... meaning there are big stupid goons walking around and doing nothing. Even when there's a fight. Its ridiculous. Steve the owner is awesome though and they have a good ambiance. The local crowd can turn you off however. Parking is a joke when they're busy too. No food so I dont even know why its called a pub.

It's such a dive, but I love this place. Nothing special, but they serve your drinks in water glasses. It never fails, I leave buzzed and happy. Sometimes they have karaoke with Shamus the DJ....kind of ridiculously entertaining. There is a back patio that is great during summer. It's a no-frills kind of place with a strange crowd, but I always come back.

Been going here a lot the past year. Friendly staff and strong drinks. Good specials. I like Mondays and Thursdays. Halloween was a blast too!

High hopes when they first opened but...

Trashy bar. Doesn't even rate as a "dive" bar (check out Avignone's down the street for that classic vibe). My buddy, a very mellow dude, bar culture aficionado from Chicago, and semi-regular at a nearby pub (a place that actually serves food and a decent beer selection) went in to check it out one night for a change of pace and almost got into a fight. He was lucky because fights break out there regularly, sometimes spilling out into the street and surrounding neighborhood.

No one I've spoken to in the surrounding area with a shred of self respect goes there anymore. The general impression of the locals it that the people who go there are mostly folks who are not from the immediate area; troublemakers from elsewhere. Don't take my word for it, I subscribe to http://spotcrime.com and http://crimemapping.com and ever since Gilligan's opened a little over a year ago DUI and assault have skyrocketed.

Stay away in the hopes they get hit with a public nuisance charge and have to close so something decent opens to replace the trash.

Certain days and times of the day, this bar can be pretty creepy. For instance, I came here with my sister on a Saturday afternoon and it was a little scary. Not scary in a unsafe kind of way, but scary in the way that you actually see the people who drink in bars during the afternoon, and you feel like that could be your future, should you too continue to drink in bars on Saturday afternoons.

Even having experienced that, I still love this bar. The owner is the bomb! My favorite bartender, Amber, is the best, and they have an awesome jukebox. Add in $3 beers on Thursdays (which happens to be the one night Amber works) and you've got the ingredients for one great bar. It also doesn't hurt that this place is a 4 minute drive from my house. I knew I was going to love Gilligan's after the first time I came in with a girlfriend. We had a blast and like I said, everyone who works there was super friendly. Steve, the owner, even gave us $10 to put in the jukebox. But when we came back, 2 weeks later and both Steve and Amber greeted us by name, I was completely sold.

There are a few old "regulars" who can get a little too friendly, but I think that can be said with any bar.

A chill little neighborhood bar, but don't let the Irish title fool you. The only thing Irish about Gilligans are its green walls and the fact that they serve Guiness. This place is mainly occupied by La Crescenta residents in their 20s and 30s. Everyone seems to know everyone else. Having said that, it's not the most exciting place in the world and the drink prices seemed a bit high for such a small neighborhood bar. Big tip: watch out for cops when you leave. They literally stalk cars that leave this place at night.

this place has all the potential in the world but..... its by far the most boring place ive ever been too. and theres nothing irish about the place other than the walls are green and theres always one fat irish guy in the corner... great staff but nas no character...... smells like cat food too

Gilligans is an Irish Pub as much as McDonalds is a Scottish restaurant. It's pretty much a local bar with a nice coat of green paint on the walls. I love local bars, dive bars and places to grab a drink and talk to the locals....this one however left me feeling a bit weird..
We walked in late on a Saturday night and It looked like the people in there mostly knew each other and were having a good time. The bar tenders were cute and got my drinks quickly. Usually at these kind of bars I like to mingle and chat with people but it just wasn't happening. Some weren't too receptive to the concept of drinking and socializing with strangers ( like in a bar!!!) and others were just in a world of their own. I want to think that if the place was more crowded that you could bump into people and start a conversation. There are two small TV's in the place so I dont think its a big hangout to watch sports...and there's no food. So if you plan on going there for the long haul...eat before hand!
If I were to give Gilligans another chance I would go there with 5 or more people for a few round of drinks then go somewhere else for the rest of the night.

I have been here a few times on Thursday's for the $3 beer specials which us really sweet because they have a decent amount of choices from Newcastle bottles to Guinness on tap. The bartenders are really chill and you can play pool

This place isn't very Irish and everytime I have gone it's fairly empty...usually my friends and I were the ones filling up the place. Most of the other people I see there are smokers, so they are always outside on the patio instead of inside. The bartenders are very chatty and friendly and they make good drinks. It's very clean. Sucks that they don't offer food. This is the type of place to go to when you want a good drink and a calm night. Nothing crazy seems to happen here.

Dive bar. Hardly anyone there on a Saturday night. Drinks were pricy, and nothing special.
It was fun that they had a pool table and we could pick our own music.
Wont go back.

It's a fine bar - but really when I think 'Pub' I think grub. None here.
Sunday is quite. The floors are nice and so are the bartenders.

Thursdays are the best at Gills. $3 for any beer or draft! Mondays give discounts to ladies. Sundays have drink specials for anyone in the food service industry.

It's a favorite spot for the local young crowd. A lot of old regulars from the My Way Lounge still come here, so the crowd is a great mix of young and old.

Good vibes and people.

Great place. Great tenders.

Love the vibe.

Crowd is chill, and you can strike up conversations with anyone. Mostly younger people come here, but everyone and anyone can fit right in perfectly. You'll hear Johnny Cash to Cash Money Millionaires; Metallica to Young Jeezy.

This is a gem in good ol' La Crescenta.

This used to be called "My Way" but it was bought out years ago. I like what they've done with this place.

Karaoke nights on Wednesdays are always fun! The DJ is kind of a snobbish fruitcake though. He reminds me of Nathan Lane's character in "The Birdcage." Of course younger, and maybe more uptight. But he's cool, I guess.

Other than that, you won't ever leave this place unsatisfied.

Driving around Montrose looking for a bite to eat I stumble upon this place, however I noticed rather quickly that they do not have a kitchen/make their own food (you can have food delivered to the bar/bring your own). With that said this is a neat bar just outside of the shopping district area. The bartenders are friendly and so are the patrons of the bar. The bar is full alcohol and has a decent selection of beers/liquor. There is a small billiard table there, and surprisingly it has really nice cloth. There are a few spots where the walls will impede your shot but otherwise it is pretty open. I did not venture out back, but there appeared to be a nice patio back there as well.

A nice spot to stop by for a few beers and meet some of the local LaCanada-LaCrescenta folk. They have Karaoke on Wednesday. I think this place would be an interesting place for an open mic venue.

$3 draft beers all day Thursdays. I am sold!

It's a chill spot in La Crescenta. From young to old, trashy to classy, Gil's has a wide variety client base.

This place doesn't have food, so I'm not sure how it qualifies as a "pub". And with only Guinness and Smithwick's on tap and a weak selection of Irish whiskeys, I'm not sure how it qualifies as "Irish" other than the Irish flags outside. Others seem to give it credit as a bar, which is all well and good, but it isn't an Irish pub in any way, shape, or form, other than the nice woman with the Irish accent behind the bar who helped me clarify the aforementioned details.

I began frequenting Gilligans on Wednesday nights when it opened. If you know anything about me, you know that I am a karaoke junkie and I go anywhere I can belt out tunes with my fellow addicts (and the audience of folks who can stand listening to us). I prefer a bar that is... less than crowded. I'm not looking for the hot spot. And Gilligans is not the hot spot but it gets a decent crew. The Wednesday night bartender Ingrid is super adorable and sweet as pie.

Seamus hosts karaoke and there's a pool table and darts for those who prefer a less embarrasing activity.

There's a smoking patio in back where you can get a nic fix.

Downsides, the big open space seems a little cold, no food (although Seamus cooks sometimes), and the toilets in the ladies seem to have trouble flushing but all in all, good times, good people, and only like the best karaoke krew in the Greater LA area.

This is one great bar with fun atomsphere and people. Bartenders are fun, welcoming. You can't miss it with all the Irish Flags out front!

I was expecting a lot more from this place. Nothing particularly Irish about it except the name. I was hoping for a good selection of Irish beer or whiskey, a beautifully crafted wood bar, some music that involved bagpipes, maybe even some Irish food, the things that one thinks of when "Irish Pub" is advertised.

This bar isn't much different than the rest in the area. The remodel was well done. Everything was nice and clean. The staff was very nice and prices were reasonable, I just wish this place was a little more themed.
