Yelpers keep each other well-fed! Â Thank you all for your reviews which led us to Gill's!
Good, local ingredients. Â Simple, great preparation, friendly service!
Thought we would take a break from restaurant fare while staying in Hawi. Â Sales clerk at Elements Gallery says she's heard Gill's is good.
VERY informal lanai arrangement, well suited to the casual food. Â We wanted to beat their 5pm closing and eat later, so ordered takeout.
Husband ordered Baha style fish tacos, chunks of Ono lightly battered and deep fried. Â I ordered Naked Style, so chunks were grilled. Â Good amount of fish, heaps of cabbage, your choice of really good chips or black beans - lightly sauced and a little on the sweet side.
We also ordered a Kahlua Pork Quesadilla to split. Â Server tells us she is out of the pork. Â :(
She offers the veggie version, which is mushrooms, onions, and two cheeses.
We ate so late that the quesadilla was cold. Â And it was SCRUMPTIOUS even cold! Â The mushrooms and onions were super flavorful, and the cheeses were luscious. Â Husband saved one quarter for breakfast tomorrow ( he loves cold pizza for breakfast, so I suppose this is the Hawaiian version?)
We will always include at least one Gill's meal in every future trip to the Big Island.
