In an area not exactly rife with excellent dining, Gladstone Taven is a very solid option. The service is consistently friendly and efficient, and the food is moderately inventive and very tasty. My most recent meal there was on Easter, and I was very excited that they had the full menu plus specials rather than a truncated holiday version. The lamb entree was juicy and flavorful, as was the carrot-based cocktail. The crab tots are forgettable, though they carry the "signature" moniker...opt for a different appetizer.
Review Source:Had dinner here with a friend, and was quite impressed. The owners did a masterful job with the make-over here, from the previous Chatfield's. The bar area is cozy & hip, while the dining room is beautifully done & upscale but also comfortable for families and kids. This place strikes just the right balance between upscale food and casual but hip atmosphere. Food was delicious. I highly recommend the lentil soup and the pork tenderloin. The latter was tender, perfectly cooked and flavorful. While the GT is not inexpensive, at least they give you some nice accompaniments with your entree (unlike some of their competition at this price point). They also offer some very nice wines by the glass and delicious margaritas. They get busy on weekend, so reservations are advised, but this is a great place for a date or a family meal. Both were in evidence on the night I went, and all seemed to be having a good time. Service is a little on the slow side, but sometimes it's nice not to be rushed through your meal.
Oh, I should mention that if you are a fan of exotic cars, this is a great place to spot a few Bentleys, Porsches, S-edition Audis, etc.
