Just off the road after a 9 hr drive. Needed something yummy without any surprises. Glory Days delivered. We were greeted by a bubbly little spark plug named Jessica who had a cold beer/wine in our hands within seconds and our delicious menu choices within 10 minutes. Jessica is the kind of server you always hope to have and often don't. Very warm and friendly, and focused on making sure we had everything we needed.
Glory days is a very clean and classy sports bar with great grub. Just do it. You won't be disappointed.
I great little joint in Winchester VA. The best part is when I am in town I stay at the Hilton Garden Inn so it is a short 50 yard walk away.
It is a little chain, your typical sports bar. The standout for me is the speaker boxes in the booths that you control, beer specials, grub is standard and good, and i have always had good service.
If your in the area, this is the best spot to stay and eat. Winchester and Martinsburg does not offer to much diversity in restaurants outside of chains so you can't go wrong in this spot.
Another plus, its a sports bar in Frederick County so you do not have to worry about the stinkin' cigarettes. It's NON Smoking.
Oh boy. Â I don't claim to be the end all be all when it comes to burgers but I do know my stuff and I don't know what they were going for with the spices and the way they cook their burgers but it was just not right. Â Too smoky and charbroiled tasting. Â My chicken wrap and fries were OK luckily. Â I have never heard of this chain before and I wont be trying them if they come to my town.
Review Source:Echoing what other reviewers say, don't be scared off by this chain! It has a lot of options, so it's great for large parties and my dad was loving the multitude of tvs with sports on every single one. Â They even provide a speaker at your table so you can tune into whichever channel you want to hear. Â Will definitely visit another Glory Days Grill!
Review Source:Overall I liked this spot for what it was; close to my hotel after a long day on the road. Yes, it is a chain, but it is heads and shoulders above Applebee's and Chili's.
The food is not cheap, nor are the drinks. We spent $80 on dinner and drinks for 2 with one appetizer, (crab dip over pretzels) and 2 entrees, I had chicken tacos, which were too spicy for me and my man had the much better crab cake sliders, those were very good.
What elevates this spot is the warm and welcoming service. Â Our bartender was charming and engaging and he did not charge me for my last drink, probably because he felt bad about the high call liquor prices.
Check it out!!
I was pleasantly surprised by this chain. I had never seen or heard of one but assumed it would (hopefully) be better than Crapplebee's.
That's really as high as my expectations soared.
I was so wrong. The food was really good & the drink menu was awesome (it had been a long day). It was right next door to our hotel, so completely walkable.
Even though it was completely crowded, we did not have a long wait for a table or for food. I will definitely go back if I'm in the area.
One of the best turkey clubs I have ever eaten. Shrimp basket was also amazing. Wings eh.
Not usually a fan of sports bar / chains but this one works for me. Â Only steps away from the Wingate Inn. Â It has been freezing cold both times I have visited Winchester leaving me with no desire to explore, so it's been great just to be able to walk across the parking lot and grab a decent bite!
Simply put, this is one of the best sport's bar-type restaurants I have ever been too. Â I have never had a disappointing meal; I have always had friendly, prompt service; and the prices are very, very reasonable.
Food:
I have gotten a wide variety of their menu. Â I have eaten their burgers, most of their appetizers, their chicken wings, their salads, and the list goes one. Â Each and every time I get a meal, I leave extremely satisfied with the food. Â My favorite burger is the one where they put the cooked egg (over easy) on it. Â I know, I know--this may sound weird if you've never heard of this or tried it; but it is delicious. Â It adds so much flavor to an already fantastic burger. Â
Their Buffalo-style wings are always crispy, well-sauced, and are served piping-hot. Â The side of bleu cheese is also delicious, and the rounds-out a really good chicken wing. Â They have a good selection of beer, and appetizers. Â I wish this place would open a location in San Antonio, Texas--I would never go anywhere else because they have everything I need.
Food Score: 5 / 5
Service:
Like I said above, there really isn't that much to say. Â Providing quality service should be common sense, and easy to accomplish. Â Every time I visit this area (roughly 1-2 times per year over the last 10-12 years) we eat here, and every time we eat here we are treated respectfully, like we are important customers, and they always go out of their way to be friendly. Â All of those things singly are impressive to find in an establishment; but all together? Â That is very, very rare. Â
Service Score: 5 / 5
Price:
When I think of a price, I think of the quality of the food versus how much I paid for it. Â Very simple. Â The quality of my food, as well as the atmosphere and look of the dining room, as well as the quality of the service--make this place a premiere establishment that other restaurants in this genre/price range should model themselves after. Â Because of how well everything is done here, the price is fantastic.
Price Score: 5 / 5
Atmosphere:
Most would look at this place and say, 'It's a Sports Bar'. Â Yes, it is a sports bar; but it has the 'little extra' that elevates to the top of all sports bars. Â Again, it is a combination of the whole package that this restaurant has to offer. Â When you couple friendly, positive servers with good quality food and clean, aesthetically pleasing fixtures; you get a great atmosphere. Â
Atmosphere Score: 5 / 5
Final Thoughts:
I love this place, and if you have ever had a bad experience here, you should go back and try it again because I guarantee you that either a.) It was a freak accident, or b.) there is some dark, service cloud that looms over you and you simply attract bad service (like my dad--somehow he always gets sub-par service no matter where he goes--it is like a curse--or maybe it is just the way he looks? Â I don't know...). Â Seriously though, go here--you won't be disappointed.
Suspicion raced thru my mind...it looks like a chain and it's not going to be good. It was late and I was hungry.
It made me a believer! Ordered the Chicken Tacos which arrived in record time in perfect condition. Hot and tasty, chicken, cabbage, sauce and a wedge of lime with just a few chips. Oh yah, mango salsa too...sweet!
Perfect with my Jack n Coke.
They adverise 30 great meals for $8.99 which I think is reasonable. The amount of food that comes for the price is very good.
I am here for 7 days, I may try it again. You should too.
I want to hate this place because it's in VA and it looks like Bennigans/TGIF/etc. However, I can't because my entire family ate here and all of our meals were delicious and very fresh. I know because I'm the person that picks food off everyone else's plate. The wait staff was also very attentive, not much to complain about here.
Review Source:The food here is good. Â Very, very good. Â And the waitstaff is spot on - I never once felt as though we were being ignored; quite the contrary, actually.
But in my opinion, it's too loud. Â Don't get me wrong, it's a sports bar, and if you're a sports fan - especially if your team is playing - it's probably not loud enough (for your side, anyway). Â But if you're going just to have a dinner, not expecting a lot, it might be a bit too loud for, say, a business lunch. Â
Otherwise, it's worth the trip.
Ever find a bar where the staff are as cool as the customers? This is one of those places.
I went in here for the first time a week ago, sat at the bar throughout the evening, got prompt, attentive, and friendly service, actually conversed with and got to know the staff, Â enjoyed watching the big projection TV, and generally had a good time.
They had a solid menu, a wide selection of draft beer and bartenders who know how to pour shots and mix drinks.
There's also a family style dining area that's a good distance from the bar, making it comfortable enough for the drinking crowd without them being in the way of families eating dinner.
