As your driving on the 15 N Freeway and you see this hotel, you'll know you Vegas is just a few minutes away. I'm surprised this hotel is still in operation and it was planned to be torn down just like it's neighbor hotel, "Nevada Landing" was and be replaced with a new hip and modern hotel. But then the economy tanked and here it still stands, aging gracefully in the middle of the desert with it's tacky Victorian theme.
This Hotel is a trucker's paradise since it provides the basics for travel like; food, a bed and a shower. The quality of this hotel is on par with Whiskey Pete's on Primm, The Hacienda Hotel near Hoover Dam and The Quad in Vegas but that's on the Las Vegas strip but the quality is just the same.
Inside you'll find a smoke filled casino and the grouchy hotel and casino staff because they hate their jobs working in a dive hotel and casino that is, "Gold Strike Hotel and Gambling Hall". The one thing that makes it old school is the smokey casino that reminds me of Casino Royale and the now closed Bill's Gamblin Hall (Formally Barbary Coast ) on the Vegas Strip and I don't know how long that will last.
What I like about this hotel is the fake mini town and and twinkling lights at night all around the tower and Gold Strike sign definitley remind me of old school Vegas and of course the coins dropping in the slots, very classic!
