I first went to the Golden Bee in 1961 when I was on the Logistics Staff at the Air Force Academy.  However I had first stayed at the Broadmoor in1950 as a guest when I accompanied my parents on a business venture.  During the 1961-1966 time frame it was our favorite. The Cheese, the yards of beer and the Pim's Cup., are things we will never forget. You have kept things together and the singing was the greatest release form the stress of work.

God bless the Broadmoor and the Bee.

    Cy Athans , Fresno CA

PS I am now 80 yrs old and would love to hit the Bee once more.

Terrible service, awful food! We have been to the Bee many times and it had been going downhill for a while. Yesterday was the last straw. The waiter was extremely slow and not attentive. We never got refills on drinks, the food took 30+ minutes to arrive and then one meal was undercooked and all meals had burnt chips or fries. The portions were also exceedingly small for the price. We were one of three tables that I saw that had a problem. I overheard the manager apologizing and comping meals for the other tables for similar issues. The Broadmoor should have 5-star service at all their facilities but I would rate the Golden Bee a 0 if I could. It's a black mark for the Broadmoor. Avoid at all costs.

Great atmosphere. I ate at the bar and waitstaff was very attentive.  I love the old wood bar and tin ceiling tiles. (Tin tiles impede cell signals here, just to let you know, yes you can survive)
Beer by the yard. Live piano.  Reasonable prices considering expensive the expensive resort next door.  Try it.

Yummy yummy a yard of Guinness in my tummy.  This is a huge piece of history for the Broadmoor.  The original bar and room was shipped here from a bar that was over in England and the new expansion is taking me time to get use to.  But honestly, where else can you go and have the waiter/waitress assault you with Bees stickers that are cleverly thrown on you when you are seated.  A must try is the cheese spread that is on the table, some people have tried to sell it on the street and dark alleys, it is that good.  Tackle a Yard of beer or just get yourself a half yard if you dare. With sing-a-long on Saturdays it is a place that will put you in a such a great mood.

    Happy Drinking!

The remodel is nice, but took away some of the "cozy" pub feel. It still has interesting visual touches, but I think the food was not what it was. The Scotch egg was pretty good (though it's like $7 for one egg), trout toast was pretty good.. the burger was ok, but not anything spectacular - and small. I am ok with the size, but I can see where many might get panties bunched because it is a smaller burger - bigger than a slider, smaller than your typical pub fare. The cottage pie was rather bland this time.

Service was great. Added more bees to my collection, but I think something has gone awry in the kitchen :(

My co-workers and I used to frequent the Golden Bee before the remodel, we loved the place (we didn't even mind the wait!). Last night we decided to check out the "new and improved" Bee and I must say, I've never been so disappointed with a restaurant/ pub in my life.
I'm going to dive right into the food... hahaha, what a joke! The new menu has more options than before but, if you're going to offer more options, you need to make sure that your chefs are able to cook them and cook them well.  I have never had food poisoning before, well, before last night! I ordered the Tikka Masala. I love curry! Luckily, the Bee did not ruin my adoration for curry, as my meal didn't have any in it. When my plate arrived I noticed that the small portion (typical overpriced resort size) was a slight pastel orange color and I knew I was going to be disappointed. Upon first bite, I was more disappointed than I expected. I had more canned peas than chicken and more chicken skin than actual meat. It was as if the chef was making a chicken pot pie and thought "hey, I'm going to add a pinch of curry and call this curry chicken!" Oh, they did throw some white rice on the side... which was still crunchy.
I'm going to move on from the food, as I have been vomiting all night and the thought of it is even more nauseating.  The remodel...  I liked the "idea" of the remodel, more tables = a better chance of getting a seat before the piano man concludes. However, I was disappointment to discover that now, instead of one room with the piano in the corner, it's now two rooms and with the piano in the front room (near the back). Unfortunately, if you're in the back room, you get to hear the piano man through speakers (not so) strategically placed in the woodwork. We were sitting under a speaker and it was so loud that it was muffled. How disappointing!
I must say, my Golden Bee experience was not all bad. Our server was not necessarily delightful but she was tolerable and the manager came by and asked how everything was which a promising sign of good management.  The best part-  they still have the cheese and crackers... much smaller portions but they will bring you a few of the miniature dishes!

Truly a fun experience with friends! We have so much fun, and I don't think there's another place like this in Springs. The music and singing makes for a great time every time we go!

I was wondering if I was going to be the first one to write an adverse review since the reopening. I guess not. And, I feel the same way as the other gentleman who recently commented. I have been going there since the 1980's.

My daughter and I were there for the reopening. It was crowded but we lucked out and got a table right away. Cathy, our server, was amazing! Food was pretty good.

I took a couple girlfriends there last Saturday. We waited an hour for a table. Understandably, they were busy. Not completely full, though. Plus, the patio upstairs was not open. ? Not sure why. It was a very warm day. The patio was open during the day for the grand opening. Anyway, I ordered a hamburger and it came without a bun. Had to send it back. Then, when using the ladies room found there was absolutely no tp. And, when the staff member came in after alerting them, she didn't even put it on the holder. Just sat it on the floor.

There is more...When my boyfriend, a prominent businessman in cs, came to meet us at the Bee, he was told he cannot look around to see if we were there. The hostess said, "Oh, they are probably not here". ?? What? Unfortunately, I did not have my phone on hand, otherwise, we would have connected that way. But, he was treated very rudely. And trust me, we give the Broadmoor a lot of business! Unacceptable!

Now, come on Broadmoor. This is not what I or anyone else expects from a 5 star hotel! Be careful here or you might lose customers.

    It's a 3 for food
It's a 5 If you like singalong music
    It's a 4 on Svc
It rounds out the broadmoor entertainment options and it is a great place to hang and spend time alone with friends or family - come in here and its like being part of a family.  The beer options are terrific and the setting is incredible.

Okay - so I'm reviewing this place as the place that was recently renovated.  I kinda liked it before -but don't get me wrong - I love the space and the new digs.  The ambiance is fantastic.  We went there on a Sunday afternoon for a birthday celebration.  My dad called a few days in advance and made us lunch reservations for 3pm (late lunch).  Unfortunately when we arrived we were told they only had a bar menu at that time - not a full one.

Now between all 10 of us - we probably ordered darn near everything on their bar menu.  None of it was good.  I mean just about all of it was mediocre to sub-par.  Chicken wings - I didn't even finish them and it's one of my favorite things on earth - you can get the same quality at 7-11.  The scottish eggs - meh - probably taste decent if you've never eaten a good one before.  Burger - average.  Pretzel stick thingy's - only good thing we ate there.

I write this with a heavy heart - I grew up at the Broadmoor - my mom worked there (Dir of Marketing) when I was young, we went there for major holiday's, I got married there - The Golden Bee is not producing Broadmoor level quality food.  It's producing crappy bowling alley food, at Braodmoor prices.

That being said - I'm giving it 3 stars as a solid bar, albeit a bit pricey for the Springs area - but understandable as a resort.  Great bar, terrible restaurant.  I'll be back...for drinks.

    Renewed but not necessarily improved.

The Bee is now about 3 rooms larger - mostly the same style and decor.  It also has a patio.

Frankly I was not impressed with the food: lamb burger was mushy and grey, the roast beef sandwich was literally three bites large. The salad was uninspired. The beer was still cold, but served in new goblet style glasses. Still the same extensive scotch collection.

The servers seemed run ragged and food took nearly 30 minutes on one day.  The front desk staff doesn't seem interested in letting you browse for your friends; twice they followed us around when we were looking for folks.

I'll be back because it's habit but I'm really hoping the food is improved next time. I'm not a fan of the piano player because it gets awfully loud... but others like it.

If you ever pass through Colorado Springs, The Golden Bee is a must stop.  My experience started when the hostess flicked a little bee at me and it stuck.  I still have him.

The seating here is very tight, but as the evening goes on, you'll find this isn't such a bad thing.  It's got a very warm comfortable and cozy English pub feel to it.  And they pack the people in.  The food is good but it's the music that makes for the memories.

Once the music and signing starts, you'll know what I mean.  The good times are contagious and even if you're normally subdued, soon enough you'll be joining in.

Going to the Springs?  Go ahead and bookmark this place now.

Fun place to hang out with friends over a pint.  Great little piano bar where everyone sings along to cheesy old songs.  Make sure to call ahead to see if there is a long wait.  It's often crowded.  Oh, and the cheesy cracker dip is amazing.  We collect the little embroidered bee stickers they throw on you when you come in.  Very cute.

EVERY ONE must go here at least once in their life.  FANTASTIC!!!!

Food is good, but the ambiance and festivities are out of this world!!  I fell in love the first time I went.  It's definitely worth the wait to get in.  Not a whole lot of seating and they only let you in every hour or so.... but wait it out, you will NOT be sorry (unless you are a fuddy duddy, then just go home and pop open a Bud by your TV).

Lively, fun, entertaining.  Everyone is in a great mood there and the mood gets happier and happier as the singing and drinking go on longer.

My out of town friends can't wait to come back and visit.

...... try drinking a yard, it's an awkwardly fun experience.

Highly Recommended... Joy to the World, all you boys and girls.....
    CHEERS!!

I have loved this place since the first time I set foot in it!  We have been going to the Bee for 10 years now and have not had a bad experience yet.  The food is always very tasty and made to order. We truly love the piano playing and singing as part of our night out experience.  It can tend to be very crowded and sometimes you may have to wait for a very long time to get a table, especially if you have a party larger than 4.  The wait is always worth it.  I do wish they had more yards and half-yards to go around because you always have to wait for them.  It is a beautify decorated space with a wonderful bar.  I also enjoy collecting the bees that are thrown onto our clothing throughout the night.  I never regret a night at the Golden Bee.  I would give 5 stars if they had more glassware.

This is a great pub that can get pretty packed on evenings.

    Lively and fun.

Food is standard pub fare, but executed very well.  Great meat pies as well as fish and chips.

    Service is top-notch.

Wow...what a treat.  We stopped in with friends to have a drink before dinner.  A couple of hours later and we were still there, talking to the bartender and enjoying the most amazing raw Oysters.  When the bartender suggested them, we were a little nervous...being so far from the ocean and all.  After devouring the Oysters we founf out that they actually came from the town we lived in on the east coast.

We loved the staff, the bar, the food and the atmosphere.  We will be back!

No reservations or bribes will be taken to get a table at this Pub, but that's what makes it a local favorite.  The history of the Pub is listed outside and on the menu but basically it was taken a part in London, put back together in NY, then again here at the Broadmoor.  It is truly an experience that transports you to a London Pub, complete with Piano man and Bangers and Mash.  Amazing beers on tap, which you can get in insanely huge "Yards" that just add to the whole experience.  The staff might walk around and throw bees at you, but don't be alarmed, they are harmless and you can take them home to remind you that you want to come back the next free evening you have.  Officially my favorite pub in Colorado!  Plan to spend the whole evening here.  Give yourself an hour to wait for a table, and once you are inside, you won't want to leave!

In Colorado Springs staying at The Broadmoor. Not much else to do in area but the Golden Bee is English style pub with piano and plenty of liquor. See, I'm easy to please.

Place is really loud but exactly what you'd expect in an pub with live piano player. He rattled though lots of songs and I enjoyed my fish and chips and Crown and Coke (I just realized I like pairs of things). The 3 of us joked and sang and the place filled to the max.

I tried to return the next day but the place was at capacity. We ended up at the other bar at Broadmoor which was much more sedate and quiet. If you want to go, go early as you can't get in. I didn't notice till after we left, but somehow the waitress flicked a bee sticker on all of us which we were walking around with. Good times.

    Damn you Golden Bee!

I like to fancy myself a fish and chips aficionado and I'm a bit put out that the VERY BEST I have EVER had is a mere 1080 miles away!

When I picked up my beautiful piece of fish, the batter gave way to my touch in such a delicately delicious way I knew I was in for a treat.  It was everything I have ever hoped for in my fish and chips.

The ambiance really puts this place over the top and the yards and 1/2 yards along with the sticky bees sets this place apart from almost any other eating / drinking establishment I have ventured to yet.

Damn you Golden Bee, Damn you!

Fun and cozy place to go have drinks. The night of my wedding we all came here and had a blast (since I got married at the Broadmoor-it was convenient). Another time we were here with some great friends from the hubby's Air-Force Academy  reunion.

If you go on a weekend, its busy and you'll wait for a table but its worth it.  Piano bar and English Pub theme, but that's because the bar was actually in a real English Pub! Gotta love a place that has a piano player who sings the U.S. military service songs. Cadets and military personnel stand up and all sing their anthems (Anchors Away, Air Force Song, etc).  Whenever we're in town we love to come here.

Highlight?  Bartenders are right on.  Finally, I go into a place and they know how to make my favorite Nuts and Berry's drink.  Beer by the yard, gotta love it. I didn't eat here, so no comment on the food, but I did get slapped with some bees! Don't miss it!

The decor was absolutely beautiful. They also serve beer by the yard (just like yard house, but a bit different)

I recommend getting the fish and chips. (hidden secret, you can split the meal between two people)

What I did like was the golden bee sticker they give you at the end of dinner.

Cozy, warm, inviting - great for dinner or just a cocktail. Get the Bee Sting!

I've been here twice and each time the service was friendly and fast.  Sitting at the bar is a nice option if it's crowded ... the bartenders are all knowledgeable and attentive.

Fish and chips are spot-on, but the cole slaw is terrible.  Just tell them to leave it off the plate. Lamb burger is awesome.  For dessert, try the apple pie warmed up with melted cheddar on top.  Amazing.

Even if you want to just grab a cup of coffee, this pub is perfect for meeting friends or having a casual night out.

I love this place, not only this restaurant, but this whole part of Colorado Springs.  I could live here...if I was rich that is.  But, alas, I can only hope that I get a gig close by so I can hang out at my favorite spot in "The Springs", the Golden Bee.  Not only is it a great pub, but it also serves some badass food.  My absolute favorite at this place, and my mouth is watering just thinking about it, is the Seafood Chowder.  If you're going to get anything at this place, get the chowder, it's simply amazing.  I've also had the sandwiches here as well as the pot pie, and they were pretty amazing, but the seafood chowder tops them all.

The service was really good as well.  They throw this bee at you when they come to take your order.  It was kinda of funny, because it freaked a friend of my out when the waitress threw the bee at him.  Great place to come hang out after a long day at work, and just grab a cold beer.

I went here for the history, but was pleasantly surprised by the food. The Golden Bee is a medium sized pub whose bar was actually brought over from England and reassembled outside the gates of the Broadmoor. It is a beautiful, casual space with excellent service and really good pub food. Specifically, the chicken pot pie. This may be the best pot pie I have ever had, and I don't say this lightly. It had the right chicken to vegetable ratio, an appropriate amount of gravy, complete with the perfect gooey consistency that comes with the addition of a beautiful, buttery crust. It is now the standard by which all others will be judged.

Less mind-blowing but also good was my house salad. Now, house salads aren't that exciting, but props should be given when they are a good, hearty salad. Too many places nowadays bring out wilty lettuce with a few carrot shavings and call it a salad. Here, they have amazing chunks of bacon, long, thick curls of fresh carrot, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, a hard boiled egg and croutons. Now that's a house salad.

Dessert was essential. They have a milk chocolate cake that is four layers high and topped with chocolate sauce and buttery toffee pieces. I recommend eating as much as you possibly can and washing it down with Guinness. See the pics for what was left of ours.

Note to families: Children under 21 are only allowed until 8:30, which is when the piano playing and general debauchery begins.

I go here for two reasons:  to get my drink on and to get my sing on.  I always succeed at both of these endeavors.  Good beer selection, you can even get a yard of premium beer if that is your thing.  They serve it up with free cheese and crackers.  Fabulous.

They also throw bees at you.  They come out of nowhere.  One moment you are drinking beer and the next moment there is a bee on your boob.  Nice.

Bud, the piano player is the bomb.  Love that guy.

The Golden Bee a good time is guaranteed for all.
Being British as I am I don't have enough praise for this place. Most of the success comes down to three things. One it is an actual pub that they had imported over the Atlantic. Can't get more authentic in terms of atmosphere than that right?
Two the authentic pub food that they offer including fish and chips really made me feel at home.
Third and most importantly 99% of the success falls down to the piano player and singer who works so hard to make everyone have a good time. I really enjoy having some drinks and singing some songs :) Makes me feel a little more human.

The hungry kitten says: Go here to sing drunk! P.S they have yard ale glasses and free bee stickers Woo hoo!

This is a cool little place --- emphasis on little.  Not a lot of tables.  We'll just call it cozy.  Neat ambiance; lots to look at.

An ex went to the academy and apparently spent lengthy hours knocking 'em back at this establishment.  He wanted me to see what the fuss was about, and maybe it was his hyping it up --- but it really was pretty cool.

Drinks are standard: poured well and out fast.  Nice staff.  Food was good; ex had the roast beef sandwich and I had the fish and chips.  Hearty.

I'll definitely pop in when and if I'm in the Springs next.

I really, REALLY don't get the hype surrounding this place. I'd heard about it since I first moved to Colorado and chose it as the place for my going-away, since we were staying at the Broadmoor after Thanksgiving.

So went over there around 5pm on a Saturday not even thinking there would be a wait. Not so. The host told us it would be a 45 minute wait! In Colorado Springs!

There are only like fifteen tables in the place. It's a BAR, but you aren't allowed to stand AT the bar. The host/bouncer guy stands behind a ROPE as if it's some fancy club. Guys, it's a tiny bar that reeks of fried fish. Does not warrant a rope at the door. The piano bar scene at this place is pretty lame, too. (read: family friendly). I was expecting a bit more bawdy atmosphere.

The yardstick beers are very fun, and I drank a few, but anyone who passed fifth grade math can deduce that they're a total rip-off.

Again, I can't express enough that this is supposed to be a BAR, but you cannot stand at the bar. I would not go back to this place.

This used to be a great place but now, eh. The atmosphere is still nice with the historic old bar and it's fun to see people try to drink the yard of beer but the food is not as great as it used to be. If you are going just for a drink than this is a fine place, just don't come hungry.

This is the second time my wife and I have been there in the past 6 months and both times the food has been sub-par. I had the fish & chips. Both were fair to say the least. The best part of dish for me was the tartar sauce. My wife's rubin sandwich was average at best.

Because the Bee is at the Broadmoor the prices are going to be a little higher than at an off resort restaurant but I also expect better than average food for the price.

I want this to be a good restaurant but for me I think it will be a long time before I go back to the bee, at least to eat.

It's small.  It's only great after 8:30 when the piano man starts.  The wait can be "forever" if you don't arrive before 7:40.  Despite all of that ... I love the Golden Bee at the Broadmoor Hotel complex in Colorado Springs, CO.

A full bar with Yard and Half Yard draft beers is great in my book most days. Mix in the true sing-along with piano time each night and you have a five star ratings.  The service tonight was great as usual even though many people get frustrated with the wait.

Note: It is first-come-first-serve so don't even waste time trying to get a reservation and just come early.

Bonus:  Single Malt Scotch options are on the menu, but looking for one to savor on a special occasion?  Then get the 25 year Macallan for $52.

Did you know?: It's an authentic British Pub brought from the UK 50 years ago.

Yards of beer and a packed dining area...  you know this place is going to be a lot of fun.  The only reason I rated 4 stars is because the wait time to get in.  Don't get me wrong, this does not mean I liked the joint less rather didn't get to dive immediately into the good times.

This is an authentic English pub, the food is great compared to authentic English food.  I had the fish'n'chips; the batter was crispy and the fish inside was flakey and had plenty of flavor.  The "chips" were the run of the mill style and there could be a little room for improvement there.

Check this place out and have fun.

    P.S.  Get there early.

I was really excited about this place. I wanted to see the old bar and enjoy some pub food. I guess I'm still waiting for that kind of experience.

Ok, the bees they sprinkle on you are kind of funny, and still on the back of my phone. That was the highlight of the evening.

The place was crammed full (ok) the service was poor (tears) and it was so loud I couldn't hear myself think. My chicken sandwich was awful, and I don't know how they managed to make it so mediocre. The chips were bleh; greasy and flavorless.

Maybe if I had more beers before I ate I would have been more pleased.

Came here for a solid lunch consisting of soup and sandwich. While the food is a bit more like an Irish pub than inside the Broadmoor, it's still very quality.

The weirdest part of the meal was at the beginning when the waitress threw sticker bees on us. At first I thought she had a mini-panic attack and I was going to have to subdue her, but she quickly pointed to my shirt and said "there's a bee on you."

Not that I had one on a lunch break, but the yard long beers along the wall make this place a must to try again.

I always wanted to like the Golden Bee, if for no reason other than that it was about half a mile from where I lived, but things have never really worked out between us.

One trip the taps were broken and they could only do bottled beer, at six dollars a bottle. No discount to account for the fact that I couldn't order what I actually wanted.

On another they were out of yard glasses, so instead I got two half yards, but again, was charged for two half yards instead of the single yard.

I like the atmosphere, I like the bees, I like the history behind the place, and I like how darned convenient it is when I'm in the springs. I just can't get over the issues that seem to come up every time I go there.
