I love The Good Life. A group of us met here on a Friday night for some drinks as people were getting into town for a weekend of wine tasting. I loved the ambiance and the quaint patio out front. The owners were VERY welcoming and gave us attentive service. The local wine and beer selection is great and the cheese plates were to die for. I can't wait to go back.
Review Source:Cool place, nice to have a new place that serves beer and wine until 11. But I have one complaint. $8 for a beer? Â I purchased a 6 pack of the same brand for $8 a week prior. But I paid it and my girlfriend drank her wine. Much better then going to a bar though. The owners were nice as well. But still kind of pricey.
Review Source:What a wonderful little gem this place is!  My lady & I visited the Solvang area a few weekends ago & decided this place looked great to try.  Based on the name we figured who could go wrong?  We decided to do our own individual tastings, I did beer, the lady did the wine, along with a cheese plate.  The beers were a tasty  variety , 4 different selections, each one was above average with great individual characteristics.  Based on the lady's opinion, her wine was just as rewarding.  I believe she had 2 white, 2 red.  The cheese plate was an excellent variety of 3 cheeses, all great, along with nuts, crackers, dried fruit, and jam.  The place itself has a great warm vibe, dimly lit with a calm demeanor.  The hosts and owners are a very easy going, down to earth couple who were a pleasure to talk to while there.  We will definitely be back some time soon.  Highly recommended!
Review Source:Love The Good Life! Â Alfred and Lisa are great! They are both very knowledgeable about the products they carry. Â You can always find craft beers here that you can't find anywhere else. Â Amazing selection of local small production wines. Â The chocolate dessert platter is delicious. Â I have been here several times, and always look forward to the next time.
Review Source:Another Solvang wine bar with a strong sideline in craft beers. Â Unlike the Wandering Dog a few blocks up the street, which specializes in international brews, The Good Life features an excellent selection of California micros. Â The stars of the current lineup are four bottled Eclipse Stout lines from FiftyFifty Brewing in Truckee, each aged in a different type of barrel; I tried the Old Fitzgerald version. Â Pricey but terrific! Â
If you're planning an early-afternoon visit, it might be prudent to call in advance. Â Although their nominal weekday opening time is Noon, on the day of my visit they didn't actually open until 2:45. Â I have no idea how typical this is.
Anyway, a place I'll definitely get back to on future visits to Solvang.
Sat down for a beer with a Trek Travel group before dinner. Got great recommendations and enjoyed the chill place to sit and have a beer and chat. After dinner we stopped back and spent probably an hour talking beer and wine and the Valley with Alfred. I can definitely support anyone who is as passionate about what they sell as Alfred is. Their wine and beer list is super dedicated to unique, local, small run beers and wines that you won't find anywhere else, and the staff is dedicated enough to help you find one you'll love.
Review Source:We took a spur of the moment trip up the central coast and ended up in Solvang, had never been there before and didn't have much of a plan. So we found ourselves wandering around the town ducking into the little shops and fell in to The Good Life we loved it! We must have spent a couple of hours in here; we enjoyed it so much we had to return with some friends who had decided to drive up and meet us. The Good Life has mouth watering selection of California beer and wine as well as plates of charcuterie and cheese from Succulent another local business. We'll defiantly be back!
Review Source:Westerly chard was delicious! I thought the location of the wine and beer bar is great, very quaint and inviting. The not only have a phenomenal wine selection, they also have a delicious beer selection. I enjoyed the yelp check-in deal which was $5 on your first glass of wine or beer. The owner was very friendly and he was telling me about the growing of grapes in the local valley. I had a fun time and will be back! They also have live music on the weekends and are one of the few places in Solvang that is opened late.
Review Source:My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting The Good Life on a recent Saturday. We were referred there by friends who had visited when it was under the previous ownership. The new owners, Lisa and Alfred were very warm and accommodating.
Specializing in serving Beers and Wines from California, it gives us Californians an appreciation for the wines and beers produced in our state.
We went in the late morning and we had no problem getting a seat. There were several other couples who would come in later. Alfred served us a flight of beers from a variety of Southern California breweries. Since he chose the beers, he was very diligent about choosing beers from different breweries that provided a natural progression from light to dark. He made sure to ask us if we had tried a particular brew before.
The pricing for tasting is very reasonable, and you get an added discount if you wind up buying a bottle or glass. There's a great ambience to the location especially since it is set in a wine cellar.
Alfred and Lisa have loads of personality and want to deliver a first class experience for their patrons. If you're looking for a place with a great personality, with a great variety of wines and beers, look no further than The Good Life.
Happened to duck in randomly when my boyfriend and I were in town... What a great little place!! Great beer selection and the owners know what they're talking about when it comes to their wine selection too! Great flights also. Â The folks at the bar rail were friendly and knew the area... Sent us to a great italian place for dinner... Ceccos. Definitely going back when were up north again.
Review Source:This has to be the best wine/beer tasting room in solvang! Walk down into a cozy, you feel like you are at home with a fire place tasting room. Very knowledgable about their beer and wine. The explanations they give about their drinks are on point, what they say is what you taste! This is my favorite place to drink so far! Alfred is awesome!!They go out of their way for you! Must visit!! We will always come back here!
Review Source:This building is so cute on the outside that it drew us in while we were heading to grab a beer at the brewing company. So glad we did! Inside it is even more beautiful. Pleased with cool and knowledgeable owners and a good selection of craft beers. Next time we visit Solvang we will be back!
Review Source:We spent 3 days in Solvang and all 3 days we went to The Good Life. Just our luck, it was their Grand Opening weekend! Â Not only do they have the best selection of Craft Beers and a tremendous wine cellar, they had some of the best live music I've ever had the pleasure of watching! Â The owners sure know their stuff! I haven't had too much experience with wine but the wine tasting and their knowledge allowed me to pick out the best wine to send to my mom! They also helped me pick out the best Craft Beer! The owners really set up the cellar to make anyone feel welcome! Â It was like we were at a party in their home! I will definitely be coming back again everytime we're in Solvang!
