It's too bad, but I have to knock one of my favorite restaurants down 1/2 a star.
Diane and I had a nice reserved table for two overlooking the Colorado River, and enjoyed the Lobster Mania Special: 1/2 a Canadian Lobster with Drawn Butter and Filet Mignon with Bearnaise Sauce. Â Lavosh in the complimentary bread basket was very good, the breadsticks great, and a Sourdough Roll excellent. Â Onion Soup Gratinee, too, was excellent as usual, with a well-deconstructed crouton and gooey cheese. Â New England Clam Chowder had nice pieces of bacon floating on top.
And, a House Salad with Bleu Cheese Dressing and Bleu Cheese crumbles, mixed greens, Radicchio, a Grape Tomato, Red Onion, and an Artichoke Heart was quite yummy.
An Intermezzo palate cleanser of Lemon Lime Sorbet was refreshing. Â And, the Canadian Lobster served with fine Mashed Redskin Potatoes and Bok Choy was just excellent and creamy. Â
So what was there not to like? Â I had to ask for numerous Iced Tea and butter refills, and my Filet was more medium than medium rare as ordered.
A slice of Chocolate Lava Cake with Powdered Sugar, Chocolate Dust, and a large scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream was scrumptious. Â Service by our assistant waiter was just not as attentive, and the Filet not as well prepared, as in the recent past.
XXXX-1/2 on this particular night!
Totally blast from the past. It was an awesome view. There was an older lady playing the piano (awesome). Had the cesar salad, they make it on the spot, heh it was good! Had the escargot. .. yummy. My husband had the steak, it was good! I had the cioppino. it was okay. I will be back. :D
Review Source:The Gourmet Room is the best restaurant in Laughlin by far and you can't beat the view with floor to ceiling windows looking out at the river. Â The service was excellent also. Â We went to the Riverside to get our favorite shrimp cocktail in the snack bar for $3.50, then from 5-7 every day the Gourmet Room bar has happy hour with piano music. Â Mixed drinks and wine $3 and full size martinis for $3.75. After HH, we ate Dinner at the Gourmet Room. Â I had the Les Coquille St. Jacque with big chunks of lobster, shrimp and scallops. Â It was OMG good and they give you lots of food. Â I think it was around $38 but well worth it. Â It was served with soup or salad and veggies. Â I had the clam chowder which was very good. Â Boyfriend had some veal dish with lobster on top and loved it. Â I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Laughlin. I can't believe I waited so long to go there after all the times I stayed at the Riverside hotel.
