Granny Annie's Family Restaurant

The SOS hash browns and Scones are quite delicious. The family run diner aspect is a little over done. It's very clear that it's hiring requirements are being family, and care very little about personal appearance. The food always is enjoyable. But, the overall feeling lacks any sort of professionalism. Diner or not it's still a business, I optimistically will continue to dine here in hopes that someone passes along a copy of "The One Minute Manager" to the GM.

First off, I need to say I really like cafes, they remind me of better days and I believe their food to be far better than any chain.

Granny's is a good cafe which serves up a tasty breakfast at a good price.  The scones with honey butter are very good.  As has been mentioned is shares ties with Sills cafe, they both have the same menu.

The trick with cafes is the service, it is always hit or miss and you should expect slow and possibly rude service, it is part of the bargain to get to the good food at a good price.

This was my first trip and I really wanted to like this place, but they need to pay a bit more attention to customer service if they want to kick it up a notch.  We went in with 7 people in our group on a Friday during the dinner hour.  We seated ourselves at a table for 8.  Water showed up at a reasonable time, but we didn't get a waiter until we had been there a while.  He took our order quickly, but it was obvious that that staff was overwhelmed by the number of patrons.   The place wasn't packed, in fact it was only about half full, but they needed some more help to get through the dinner hour.   One waiter sprinted between tables while other seemed to not really care that much about how many people were waiting.  The unfortunate thing was that after a significantly longer wait than I would have expected, our food started showing up in spurts.  He wold bring out a couple of items, then a minute or two later a couple of other items would show up.  This went on for about 10 minutes.  The people that received their meal first were almost done before the last items showed up.    Our water glasse were never refilled.   I credit the staff for trying, but they need more help and more training to really be a great place to enjoy a meal.  

Food: Everyone ordered breakfast food.  The scones are huge and very tasty.  The kids like the cinnamon ones best.   The sweet roll was really about 4 sweet rolls and covered a plate.  The veggie omelet was very good.  Pancakes are very good and very large.  They draped over the plate.  All the meals had generous portions.  Biscuits and gravy were OK, but not the best I've ever had.  I had hoped for better.   Everyone came away well fed and satisfied.  In this case, the generous portions of good food made up for the wait staff.
