The SOS hash browns and Scones are quite delicious. The family run diner aspect is a little over done. It's very clear that it's hiring requirements are being family, and care very little about personal appearance. The food always is enjoyable. But, the overall feeling lacks any sort of professionalism. Diner or not it's still a business, I optimistically will continue to dine here in hopes that someone passes along a copy of "The One Minute Manager" to the GM.
Review Source:First off, I need to say I really like cafes, they remind me of better days and I believe their food to be far better than any chain.
Granny's is a good cafe which serves up a tasty breakfast at a good price. Â The scones with honey butter are very good. Â As has been mentioned is shares ties with Sills cafe, they both have the same menu.
The trick with cafes is the service, it is always hit or miss and you should expect slow and possibly rude service, it is part of the bargain to get to the good food at a good price.
This was my first trip and I really wanted to like this place, but they need to pay a bit more attention to customer service if they want to kick it up a notch. Â We went in with 7 people in our group on a Friday during the dinner hour. Â We seated ourselves at a table for 8. Â Water showed up at a reasonable time, but we didn't get a waiter until we had been there a while. Â He took our order quickly, but it was obvious that that staff was overwhelmed by the number of patrons. Â The place wasn't packed, in fact it was only about half full, but they needed some more help to get through the dinner hour. Â One waiter sprinted between tables while other seemed to not really care that much about how many people were waiting. Â The unfortunate thing was that after a significantly longer wait than I would have expected, our food started showing up in spurts. Â He wold bring out a couple of items, then a minute or two later a couple of other items would show up. Â This went on for about 10 minutes. Â The people that received their meal first were almost done before the last items showed up. Â Â Our water glasse were never refilled. Â I credit the staff for trying, but they need more help and more training to really be a great place to enjoy a meal. Â
Food: Everyone ordered breakfast food. Â The scones are huge and very tasty. Â The kids like the cinnamon ones best. Â The sweet roll was really about 4 sweet rolls and covered a plate. Â The veggie omelet was very good. Â Pancakes are very good and very large. Â They draped over the plate. Â All the meals had generous portions. Â Biscuits and gravy were OK, but not the best I've ever had. Â I had hoped for better. Â Everyone came away well fed and satisfied. Â In this case, the generous portions of good food made up for the wait staff. Â
Staff gets about a 1.5/5
Food is about a 4/5 (quantity makes up for the quality of about a 3.5)
They say sisters to Sill's Cafe. But I say better!
There were a lot of older people but the atmosphere was great.
It felt a bit uncomfortable because they would stare at you as if we were back in the 40s etc. But the cool hip waitress was fun and happy go lucky she was inviting and comforting. My son ordered off the kids side. Usual Pancakes eggs, sausage. Man that plate was fit for him and his big boy appetite. The pancakes were monstrous! His favorite! And they were yummy. reminded me of home! Mom ordered the Colorado Omelette another monstrous bugger! weighed the plates down! Hubby ordered another omelette they may have gotten the meat wrong but no complaints on his end. He finished it all!
All is all the food was <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbomb.com&s=bb4f996415a9c2f21137e27cfb68f439a48cec2652b53e9b50dd7e766dbe177e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://bomb.com</a>
The people were nice and friendly!
Food was great!
Scones were out of this world! bigger than the plate!n Awesome!
Been here many times over the years. Service has been decent every time, save the atrocious experience we had a few years ago. Our food took forever, check that, my food took forever and coffee cup stood empty. My daughter and wife were finished by the time my food came and..... It was completely wrong. So, out of patience and disappointed by not being able to eat with my family, I told them to keep it and haven't been back in two years, until today.
It was a pleasant experience and the short haired-tattoo sleeved waitress is very good. Quite a bit better than average.
The food is still in large quantities, for sure brings one closer to cardiac arrest and puts the "grease" in Greasy Spoon, but it tastes decent and it spares me from Denny's.
4 for service.
2.75 for food, but my expectations are high.
I'd recommend coming here, just don't expect something other than a big ol' breakfast fit for a construction crew.
Like going back in time - the menu looks like one you'd have found driving across Route 66 in the 1970s... liver and onions, patty melt, clubs sandwich, you get the idea. So if that's what you're looking for - comfort food - this is the place. If not, JUST DO THIS: order one of their AMAZING scones with honey butter. Pleasant staff, looks family-owned, clean, good prices, massive portions
Review Source:I was skeptical when we walked into the Kaysville location. We were the ONLY customers. The friendly staff suggested getting a scone, a signature dish at Granny Annie's. It was also suggested that the SOS is great with the scone. Â
I followed the recommendation and I'm very glad I did. I suggest getting a scone with honey butter on the side and a cup of SOS. Dip pieces of the scone in SOS and enjoy the heaven in your mouth. Then when you're ready for something sweet, spread a little honey butter on a piece of scone.
My mouth is watering at the thought.
BTW, at about 5pm the restaurant got busy. We were the only customers under the age of 55.
This review is for the BOUNTIFUL location on Main St.  It went in where the old  Marie Calendars used to be.  Delicious old fashioned breakfast food - a vanishing niche as chain restaurants take over the country.  Good bacon, eggs, SOS on hashbrowns - best pancakes around and of course the monster scones with honey butter.  Nearly the same as Sills or Doug and Emmy's was in Layton as they are in the same family.
Review Source:I give it a 3.5 for its food and friendly staff. While this is the "sister" company to Sill's Cafe I have found it to be seemingly better. I enjoy the S.O.S on hash browns the most and lets us not forget their amazing scones. They do have a decent amount of other choices for breakfast ranging from the usual french toast, waffles, pancakes and so forth. They have also created a few dish setups by loyal customers that add to the menu. I do recommend this Restaurant if in the Kaysville area or close by.
Review Source:This restaurant is the hidden treasure of Davis County. It's owner, Annie, is the sister to the owner of the infamous Sills in Layton. According to the wait staff, Annie and John share recipes and you will find the same amazing scones, SOS on toast and out of this world pancakes at both restaurants.
The service at Granny Annies has always been quick. I read a review where the reviewer said they waited a long time for their food, and the service stunk. In the decade I have been coming here, that has never been my experience. I timed them on two separate occasions and both were under 10 minutes. Today's was 5 minutes for our entire meal. That's prompt and efficient service!
I have eaten pretty much everything on the menu and my favorites are the scones, of course, Â and then the SOS on toast! It's flavorful and out of this world!
The Burgers and fries here are incredible as well!
Good Diner food is a lost art, and Granny Annie's has mastered that art.
Famous for their giant scones, SOS, and bacon to name a few but also the beast burger and fries in Davis county! Â Now they even cut their own potatoes and serve them up golden brown alongside a fresh bun containing a juicy hand patted patty topped with cheese, onions, lettuce and if you like, big slices of crispy bacon. Â No matter what you order you will receive quality and quantity at a good family friendly price.
Review Source:Staying with my previous review.... Â Especially since finding Jeremiah's in Ogden.
The service is still lacking greatly. In fact it took 15 minutes to get a cup of coffee and a menu the last time I was in. I wish it wasn't this way.... Â I really want to give them a good review, but until they figure out how to improve the service I cannot....
The food has jumped to 3.5 stars, but not enough to give them any lift in overall rating.
Whenever I feel the need to have a large breakfast (at anytime) this is where I go. Â The service is usually good, but they do get very busy and sometimes it can take a while to pay the cashier. Â The food service is usually really good. Â They have everything you could want from a typical diner style restaurant. Â I am guilty of getting breakfast there almost every time I go there so I can really only highly recommend that personally. Â My wife however also loves the place and she gets a wider variety than me, (not to mention that she is very picky) and she is always in the mood for Granny Annie's.
