A great little spot for breakfast. Love taking family here when they are in town you get a real taste of North Carolina food and culture! Nobody is in a big hurry it is more about spending quality time! Â Always amazed at how the food gets cooked just right! Â The place had a nice facelift a few years ago but the "Board of Directors Table" remains the same. If you grab a bite on a weekend take a stroll around but don't be surprised if you get captured by our town, and want to call it home!
Review Source:Cute little local place for breakfast. I had a country ham omelet with hash browns and biscuits. Everything was great. Portions were really large so come hungry. Also this place is busy on the weekends so either come early or plan to wait for a table. Service was wonderful. Food was brought quick and fast.
Review Source:We came here for breakfast a few Saturdays ago, looking for a local non-chain eatery. It was really busy late in the morning which we took as a good sign. It's not organized or run like a typical restaurant, but maybe that's how they separate the locals and the passers-by. We waited for a table to open up, but were not quick enough as 2 other groups who came after us snatched them up. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way I guess.
We finally got a table and ordered. The server was friendly enough and gave good recommendations. I ordered the pancake/egg meal and got the sausage link. Coming from someone who doesn't much care for sausage, it was excellent! Wife got the smaller version (can't remember what they called it) but eggs, bacon and a biscuit. Food was well cooked to order, service was appropriate and overall it was a decent breakfast. Maybe $15 for both of us, so not a bad deal at all. Other than the seating situation, we'd probably stop by if we came back to that area.
Walk in and grab a seat was what I had read in a review, so when I walked in I asked! One Patron said sit anywhere but here... After he left I noticed this was the Largest Table (looked like a Liar's Table) in the place and a sign on the wall read : "Board of Directors" so I probably should have asked him for an Autograph and sat at his table just to be Neighborly and introduce him to the NEW Board of Directors (Me)... only, he has a Gun in his car and a knife in his pocket, I have a knife in my car and a, uh, phone in my pocket... Everything else being equal, I better wait til he retires, be quiet, sit down at the Table BESIDE his even though all the other tables were empty, wait my turn and remember I'm NOT That B A D !
From this point forward my new name is "Honey" I told my Waitress "I'm Rod0" she said "I know Honey"! Â I'm NOT jidding about any of this, nor about most of it!
What I Liked:
Pancake Tastes good with or without Butter
Biscuit very nice plain and with Butter
They Serve REAL Butter!!!
This Place is Country as Youngsville! Â Friendly Waitstaff and Neighborly patrons!
They Have a Liar's Table, I mean  "Board of Directors Table", hummm ok maybe it is easy to believe that is usually the case!
What was good though I would not order again ONLY because of Personal Preference, still had Good Flavor!
Link Sausages spice combo reminds me of "Neese's"
Hash Browns Cubed and Grilled with Onions
Went here for breakfast Sunday morning and the place was full. One of the waitresses pointed to a table and we sat down. She came over, gave us menus and took our drink orders. Returned quickly with our coffee (not the best but it is cheap diner coffee). I ordered the French Toast with a side of sausage links and Jeff got the ham and cheese omelette with home fries and rye toast. Our food came out immediately and everything was just as we wanted it. The sausage was REALLY good - huge links with tons of flavor, definitely homemade and not Jimmy Dean. The French Toast was a little soggy for my liking, but the flavor was still yummy.
Our drinks were never empty and we were weren't rushed out of there like you can sometimes be in a diner setting. This is a great spot to enjoy a diner breakfast. Would be 4 stars if their coffee was good, but it is too watered down in my opinion to be charging $1.45 per cup.
Rolled into Griffin's at about 25 till 1pm this afternoon. The sign says they close at 1pm on Saturday. Shew- we made it!
We stood by the door waiting for someone to acknowledge us, but nobody did. A fellow came up to the door behind us, skirted past us, and sat down at a dirty table. Okay - we get the gist. Two people got up and we took one of their tables. Everything else was full. We sat at the dirty table for a few minutes until we were greeted by a cheerful waitress with a rag and some menus.
Food was flying out of the kitchen and everything looked delish! We browsed the menu and I settled on blueberry pancakes, country ham, and a poached egg. Coffee for the wake me up kick that I still needed at lunch time hit the spot.
The food did not take long to prepare and when it came out it was as gorgeous as I'd seen on other people's tables. The pancakes were buttery crisp along the edges and chock full of blueberries in the center. The country ham was ginormous and full of great salty flavor. The poached egg was perfectly cooked and had a nice runny yolk.
The waitress was attentive and refilled the coffee before it ever ran dry. The crowd kept coming in long after the 1pm threatening closure. The chef (who I am assuming is also the owner) came out at one point to thank people for coming in and check on their food.
Cannot wait to go back and try the chicken salad sandwich, the fries, the fish, and the hamburger. The menu is large and there is sure to be something to please everyone at your table.
My husband and I love Griffin's...we usually go on Sundays, grab a paper, and enjoy an inexpensive, home-made breakfast in a small-town, friendly atmosphere. Â The waitstaff is friendly and efficient; it's the sort of small-town place where everyone knows each other. Â I'd like to keep it a secret...but they deserve to be acknowledged!
