The Grind

I get the idea, and I appreciate the attempt at a different approach, it's just that the execution is underwhelming.

They explained to me that the point is that they're going for a "Coffee House" feel as opposed to a coffee shop.  They want you to come in talk with the people there and make friendsies.  OK, that's fine.  But when they make that their sole purpose, that seems awkward.  I asked for an iced drink.  They didn't have ice.  I asked for it to go, indicating that I was not there to stay.  They told me they'd have to go over to the store and buy to go cups.  So I had to wait for them to leave the store, get the stuff, come back, then make the drink and then take it to go.  It's just not customer oriented.

The place really feels like a bar.  And although I have no issue with the place, since it's coffee and not alcohol, I don't frequent bars, and so I feel... out of place...

The coffee was fine, so I can't be too hard on them, but when I feel that they want to follow their narrow little plan, and not cater to all possible coffee drinkers, it does not make me want to come back.

Moving on...

Freshly roasted coffee, on location. Atmosphere is the opposite of pretentious. Innovative coffee roasting and brewing. If you don't want a place like Cheers, where everyone knows your name, hang out somewhere else.
