Living next to Tricky Dick means you have to travel outside city limits even for a beer bar. Thank goodness they have local Bootleggers beer on tap at a decent price. The regulars are friendly after they finish staring at you.

I bought the Coupon here but they couldn't redeem it with the app on my phone; it had to be printed so guess I'll have to go back.  The place is small and only beer and wine but the owner is nice and they have some good local brewery beers.  Once I get the voucher printed I'll go back and swig a few :)

    Pros:
Awesome bartender (Heide). Even though it was a slow afternoon the barkeeper was engaging all customers. Definitely a locals hangout but visitors made welcome.
Reasonable selection of Beers, tap and bottle.

Cons: Only snacks, no food service.

I was contacted about this place making me aware that it was under new ownership.
OK, this doesn't happen very often, but I was wrong.

    $2.50 Corona Tuesdays?
New jukebox where I can pick my own music?
    Virtual dartboards?
    Light up signs?
    Pool table?

I'm in. Go back to this place if you haven't been in awhile. Service was MUCH better; the waitress was so nice and she kept checking on our drinks. I could definitely see myself going back to watch an Angel's game or football games. Really any sport. I could see myself going there after work for a couple beers, AND I can even see myself recommending it to other people now, especially if you want to just go in and have a couple beers. The crowd was better, and people weren't so rude.

I went in last night, which was a Tuesday, so it wasn't crowded, but I kind of liked that. I'm sure on the weekends this place is hoppin.
Last night there were two live singers there, and they were so nice to listen to. Not too loud where you had to shout to your friends to talk to one another.

I believe I saw a sign saying there were karaoke nights now, which is cool. I could definitely see myself going there for some good ol' fashion karaoke.

GO BACK if you haven't gone since May. MUCH, MUCH BETTER!!!!

You know when you walk into a place and you can tell they just gave up.  That's my first 60 seconds of this place.  Several TV's on with no volume and no music playing.  Just a bunch of people sitting around drinking cheap beers.  I noticed the change of ownership sign on the window out front.  I have a special place in my heart for dive bars and place could be the little engine that could.  The people were all real nice and the bartender was a really sweet girl.  I had a couple and left.  Several places in the complex that you can bring food in from.  I will check it out again.  Ive got hope for this place.

    OK, so an update.

Alright, Group Therapy, you convinced me.  This is my new go-to bar. When i want a cold beer served competently and usually with a smile, I know where to go.

Your $2.50 domestic pints have conquered my resistance.  Your friendly clientele has removed my hesitation.  Even when I walk in and don't know anyone, someone will usually start talking to me, or they don't mind much when I start talking to them.

Yes, sometimes you're not very busy, and I'm OK with that.

Yes, you need to get HD service on your satellite, but if I want to really watch TV, I'll stay home.

If you served food and had a patio so I could sit outside and sip my beer, you'd get 5 stars.

    See you on Friday...

Been going here for years. Has everything you can want in a dive-bar. Cheap beer, friendly faces, free pool on Mondays and you can play poker for beer chips on Thursdays. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there is no liquor, only beer and wine.

Have to say that my second time there wasn't such a good experience.  I went with a girlfriend this time and we were bombarded with these four weird dudes picking her up as an obvious game.  It was like they were tag teaming each other.  They didn't want to let us leave without her phone number, but she didn't give in.  I'm not trying to be jealous cause they weren't hitting on me.  They were obvious creeps to the both of us.  Yuck.  Kinda weirded out since then.  We haven't wanted to go back yet.  Sorry Group Therapy.

It's a great hole in the wall beer bar. They also have wine and other drinks. And the prices are good also. G.T. is a great place to go and be yourself (or to celebrate an occasion with friends). This place is very friendly with good service and good locals. There is beer pong, darts, pool table, and events on weekday nights and weekends. Lots of flat screens so any were you sit to watch a game is a good seat.

So go to Group and get some Therapy !!

No other words to explain Group Therapy but local dive bar.  They only serve beer and wine which automatically deducts a star for me.  How can you get drunk off beer and wine when you have to get up every sip to go pee?

The people that go here are usually pretty cool, lots of regulars, but a douche bag always slips in and causes a fight to start.

Haven't been here in a couple years, and probably won't be back either.

This place is cute and local and the bartenders are always very nice.  It is only a beer bar though, so don't go looking for a cocktail.  The prices are reasonable as well.  Internet juke box, pool darts and bean bag tic-tac-toe.  Some of the regulars are trippy but I usually have a good time here.

(+) this place has the cheapest beer so far.  i like the huge glasses and it really doesn't get packed so it's a good place to go and throw back a few.

(-)  this place USED to show the ufc fights for free.  that always rocks.  but when i tried calling to see if they were showing ufc 100 they didn't know and then ended up hanging up on me.  so much for customer service.

Another bar not too far from where i live
Didn't realize it was a beer bar until it was too late.  (ordered my usual Vodka tonic and umm I got some legal vodka/tonic)  by legal i mean they can't have any hard liquor I guess...so they found a version of vodka with only 20% alcohol.    blah.
Ended up drinking beer after that.
    Seems like its mostly locals....
they have a pool table, darts, bean bag tic tac toe and a lot of flat screen TV's!  for such a small place.
it's not too bad, would come here to chill with friends.
Pricewise, it isn't too bad either.

I've always heard rumors about this place.  A local dude told me that Group Therapy is filled with jaded blokes talking about better times.  An old co-worker told me a local gal always rides her horse there to fancy herself a drink.  Another guy told me that a certain big busty waitress would let touch her boobies if you asked nicely.  I've never been able to verify any of this, but I'm sure they've all happened at one time or another.

Karaoke on Saturday nights are epic.  The OC bro singing Michael Bolton's "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You" was truly stellar.  Greatest and most fabulous trainwreck of a bad song...hence, making it good.  No seriously, it was GOOD.  I still hear him singing it in my head.

Seeing the locals in here reveling with no hesitation and foolish remorse, it's easy to see this spot as a local's bar.  After coming here so often, I'm sure they've earned their right to walk in and feel uninhibited and free.

And this is why I like coming to this place.  To get away from the trendy glam bars, you go to the dive bars.  To get away from the dive bars that start to get starstruck with themselves, you head to a local's bar.

Oh, and they accepts credit cards now!  Woohoo!

I used to like going here, but it seems the owners or whoever is making the decisions has no idea what they are doing. The crowd is very up and down, sometimes there are 2 people in there at 11pm on a Friday night and sometimes there is 20. I guess it depends on the bartender. I hear they cancelled karaoke, which is the only reason I used to go. The drinks are pretty inexpensive...they don't take credit cards...and I wouldn't recommend going there if you do not like beer because that's all they serve. Only one pool table. Weird crowd most of the time...eh...

    Frank!

Dave G says, "And it's one of the best of bars I've been too.  Regretfully, I am unable to say why." I have to concur.

Group Therapy is a beer bar - there's no hard alcohol.

There was something great about this place, maybe it was the cabin like feel about it, maybe it was the people that were there who actually came up and introduced themselves to us, maybe it was the cute bartender, or maybe it was the $2.50 beers. Whatever it was, the best way to relay my feelings about Group Therapy is "pleasantly surprised."

They have a pool table, electronic dart board, and touch screen jukebox, they still allow smoking which strangely didn't bother me, and a guy was there on a laptop but I didn't think to ask if  Wi-Fi was available. Maybe?

All and all.. a successful venture. I'd go back.. I don't see it being a weekend destination, but maybe in a pinch.

I don't know if it was the drugs (allergy meds) or the beer, but I had to shake my head a few times to remind myself that I was not stuck in an episode of Rosanne.

The bar is all wood, meaning wood walls, wood bar, wood stools, wood floor (you dirtbag).  There are neon Budweiser, Miller, and Coors signs and other brewery memorabilia for decoration and a small pool table.  They also have pictures of the patrons from the 80's/90's along the wall (love the pic of the 2 cougars: 1 in a budweiser shirt tied above her navel wearing mom jeans shorts and 1 in a budweiser dress).

However, this is the newest old bar I've ever seen.  They had a touch screen jukebox that looked like a giant iPod, Bose stereo sound system, electronic poker machine, and electronic dart board, aptly named Cougar Darts!! nice...

Note 1:  They mainly serve beer with Hefeweizen, Fat Tire, Bud heavy, and Bud light on tap.  They have wine but it's Charles Shaw from Trader Joe's.  I also saw one guy drinking O'Douls.

Note 2:  They do not accept cards, but there is an ATM machine in the corner.
