    Friendly waitstaffs

Have been to this café many times but today's experience will likely keep me away for awhile.  Of the three meals ordered 2 were complete disappointments; the blueberry pancakes were dry with few blueberries so I only ate the middle section, and my husband's waffle 'tasted like they just popped it out of the toaster'.

The service is always great but their kitchen needs to try harder.

I had Salmon with jay at the half day cafe.

wait staff was very nice. They said the salmon was good and they were not kidding, light flakey and melted in my mouth.

so glad we waited for a table outside, host was nice enough to open the umbrella for us so we were not in the hot sun.

I enjoyed the outdoor seating. I wish we sat under an umbrella however. We were initially seated in the shade but as high noon approached it got uncomfortably hot. Regardless, I would still prefer to sit outdoors though, just at a different table.

Food wasn't the best I've ever had but good enough. Prices were low, well compared to the prices in SF that we are used to. We had the lemon ricotta pancakes, an egg scramble with hashbrowns which accompanied a biscuit. To drink we had a large grapefruit juice and a regular coffee (free top offs for coffee). Total came out to $30 and some change.

Service was friendly and efficient. We definitely felt welcomed. I'd return if I was in the area.

Outside patio ambience was nice for brunch. Our waitress was very friendly and kind, great customer service! Food was fresh and well portioned! Pleasant experience!

When you go to the Half Day Cafe's website, the words following the email address say, "You are very important to us!" We didn't feel very important to a certain waitress April 3, 2013.

It was my wife's birthday. She finished work across the street and we decided to have brunch at Half Day. Our waitress was pleasant enough, but obviously a little overworked and distracted at that moment; a little bit in a hurry, and only a half-house that afternoon.

My bride ordered the Margarita Sandwich. I ordered a Caesar Salad as a starter, and a bowl of clam chowder as my main course to be served when my wife received her sandwich. This way we could eat together and my soup wouldn't get cold. It was a simple, reasonable enough request, and the waitress dashed off for our drinks.

Many minutes later (too long) my salad arrived, and it was delicious. I like the anchovies whole instead of pureed into the dressing. Many more minutes later, with my salad bowl still in front of me and long ago eaten, our 'main courses' arrived. Christie's sandwich was exquisite as usual and, although my chowder was good, it was lukewarm. I could see it sitting on the open-kitchen counter while Christie's sandwich was being prepared.

After several minutes trying to flag down our waitress (the food was delivered by someone else) we finally made eye contact across the room. She came to our table with a somewhat "What is it?" look on her face. I explained that my soup was served lukewarm, and while trying to get her attention it was even colder now.

She snatched it up from the table, started to walk away, turned and asked me if I had eaten any of it, which I thought was a fairly strange inquiry; of course I had tasted it! How else was I going to know if the soup was cold, put a finger in it? Secondly, what did it matter if I had? Was she going to put it back in the pot?

She should have simply apologized and offered to get me a fresh, hot bowl, and fast while my wife was still eating. The customer's always right, sometimes even when he/she isn't; is that not how the restaurant credo goes?

In any event I waited - again - for an interminable amount of time. My wife's sandwich was long gone. Losing patience, I turned my focus to the kitchen to see just exactly what was taking so long to ladle soup into a new, clean bowl. What I observed shocked me. A worker had put an empty soup bowl in an open broiler/oven, and he was continually testing its warmth by touching the inside of the bowl. Not once, not twice; several times.

When the employee deemed the bowl was hot enough (too hot, in fact) he removed the bowl, ladled some soup in and set it in the counter. Moments later our waitress came over with the soup and set it in front of me with a short, "Careful, the bowl's really hot," and started to walk away, leaving my wife's empty plate. I quickly asked her if she had a few moments, to which she sort-of stuttered and stammered and said, "Not really, we're very busy; but what is it?" She said "WHAT IS IT!"

I'd had enough. I went on to tell her she needed to hear what I had to say, whether she had the time or not. I told her how long we'd been sitting (an hour?), what I had observed in the kitchen, and the fact that I had lost my appetite over it. I no longer wanted the soup, and in fact I wanted it removed from my bill.

Indignantly, an without a word, she took my bowl away and back to the kitchen. While other workers cleaned our table, our waitress rattled off the entire story to her manager - a nice enough man it seemed - within earshot of us, words and arms flying. She wasn't happy.

Moments later she brought our bill to the table and explained that the soup had been removed from it; no apology, no nothing. In fact she gave me the feeling I HAD DONE SOMETHING WRONG!

On the way out I half-expected an apology from the manager, but didn't get one; in fact he was nowhere to be seen.

If Yelp stars went down to zero, that's what my waitress would get. Half Day Cafe? 1 for bad effort and follow-up.

Always a line on weekends. Best (non gluten free) scones on EARTH! And healthy organic dishes that will delight your senses. All in a friendly open and light space. Sometimes  a bit loud, but always a pleasure.

We took a blind flyer by choosing breakfast at HDC in Kentfield. We were new and unfamiliar to the area and chose this establishment strictly based on rating and reviews on Yelp. We couldn't have been more pleased. The restaurant is located off College Ave. with parking in the rear. We had no reservations but were immediately shown to a garden table that was lovely. Our waitress was very enthusiast (maybe a little too much so) but was helpful and well informed. We chose the special scramble and custom omelet which were good choices. The lemon-blueberry scones were warm, fresh, and wonderful. The coffee was hot and plentiful. The hash browns set off the meal in wonderful fashion. After a little more coffee and a modest bill less than $30 we were off for the day. This was a great find for us as we enjoyed our patio table and visit immensely. The waitress could tone down the over the top comments regarding everyday good meal choices and service. A positive attitude is important in everything you do but when it is that dramatic is sounds a little contrived. Great restaurant. Thanks Yelp and the reviewers.

Always a great breakfast to be had here at Half Day.  It's always busy and always worth the wait.  I've tried everything from the dough gods, pancakes, scrambles and omelets.  The staff is nice and friendly. The place is always clean.  LOOOOOVE IT!!!!!

This place has consistently been great. Their wait on the weekends is usually about 15-20 minutes, which always seems shorter. The place has a lot of light and high ceilings. If it's warm out, sit outside -it's beautiful.

The service is always good. The breakfast/brunch food is SO GOOD! I usually always have the Wake-Up Scramble which is SO freakin' good. Highly recommend! Also, if they have their buttermilk biscuit, upgrade your toast to that...their scones are also very tasty. Most times I go, I have a latte and I feel like I'm on the set of the show "Friends" as the cups are huge -no complaints though!

I've been many times and will continue to do so..love this place!

Great breakfast, huevos rancheros, and service

Love Half Day. Especially love going there when the weather's nice and sitting on the patio. It's relaxing and a slice of heaven. Most of their food is excellent; omelets, pancakes (especially the lemon poppy seed - my favorite), huevos rancheros (best I've ever had), green eggs and ham, and their smoothies are amazing. Really good coffee too.

The only negatives... don't like the quality of their bacon (too much fat), don't like their sausage and they charge for real maple syrup. Some places do not charge for real maples syrup, like Woodlands Cafe across the street, and I appreciate that.

Three waitresses at Half Day are wonderful... Anna, Kendall and the third one I can't remember her name, sorry.

Love Half Day and highly recommend it. Huge line on weekends... for good reason.

A beautiful place for a great American breakfast

No, its not an optical illusion, there is no way to enter from the front, you must go around the back (thats what she said). So once we figured out how to get into the restaurant we were greeted and seated with friendly fast service. This place gives off a homely, country feel with the white and brick walls and exposed wood banisters (can you spot Gumby?). The outside patio looked more like a garden with all the greenery and I would have loved to sit out there except I'm from Arizona and it was way too cold (for me) to try it out. I just admired it from the window, but if you can, you should eat out there.

Im not sure why, but I loved the fact that you need to ask for a glass of water due to the restaurant's effort to conserve water. But dont worry, they have a little sign on every table to remind you of that in case you forget this tidbit from my (awesome) review.

Anyway, let's get to the grub! We both got coffee and water and, thanks to Yelp, knew we had to try the orange butter. After perusing the menu we decided two things. One, that everything sounded delicious and two, we were going to order the Blubes! ($8.25), which are blueberry pancakes served with orange butter, and an omelet we created ($9.50) consisting of feta, spinach, avocado, and mushrooms. The omelet comes with your choice of bread, which we went for the english muffin (didn't realize at the time we could upsize to one of their pastries for only 25 cents) and we got fruit instead of potatoes cause we need to try eat a little healthy, haha.

Oh my deliciousness! Those blueberry pancakes were so incredibly yummy and when the blueberries mixed with the orange butter, uh, so freakin' good! The omelet was delicious and I need to point out that the fruit selection was amazing all due to the fact that the cup had papaya in it!

They forgot my english muffin, but thanks to the bf, we ended up getting a warm blueberry scone due to the error. The scone was incredibly delicious and I would recommend trying one of their pastries even if you get it to-go for later (we didn't eat ours until after our hike in Muir Woods). Great customer service, amazing food, and awesome orange butter!

    Cute establishment
The area was a cozy suburb- felt relaxing going from Oakland on a Sunday afternoon. On the way the street was lined with students on their way to cheer practice/soccer games so on... precious
The food was decent and the menu offered several options in both savory and sweet departments. The servers were diligent in filling up the coffee cup! Thanks!
There is both indoor and outdoor seating. I got the tofu scramble (adding eggs) and my man got a make your own omelet- sorry, Ive just had better : /  . My eggs and tofu were sort of stringy/runny and the omelet just wasn't packed with veggies and cheese to wow me?!? Maybe Ill have to try your blueberry pancakes next time?

Tried this place for brunch today with a friend who like the food. Portions are on the lighter side, but in a good way.

I had the Belgian Waffle with Orange Butter and a House Coffee. The coffee tasted really fresh, but was a little too cool for my liking. I'm guessing this may have been intentional since I'd asked for a glass of ice with it which I never received. I ended up not needed though, so I'm not complaining. The waffle tasted as good as some made and the orange butter was deliciously light and refreshing, not something I can usually say about a waffle. My friend had the Eggs Benedict, substituting ham for avocado, a Latte and a side of fruit. She seemed really pleased with all of it. I picked at some of her fruit and was impressed but the variety- grapes, watermelon, pineapple, mango, raspberries, kiwi, orange, etc. It was much more pleasing that the usual bowl of grapes and honey dew that most places serve.

We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather, they aren't kidding when they say there may be bees. A few buzzed around nearby, but weren't a nuisance.

Would love to try this place again for lunch, some of the sandwiches sounded really good.

My new favorite brunch in Marin.

Really enjoyed the friendly, professional service while I read a very old book in the very pretty garden.

While I drank my iced americano and ate a perfect vegetarian eggs benedict with a side of fruit (that had not just strawberries, not just pineapple, not just mango, but also papaya... be still my heart).

While I listened (just a little) to the cute conversations around me (hard to have unpleasant conversations in such a pleasant atmosphere).

Half Day and Hummingbird Cafe are my two favorite breakfast/brunch spots in Marin.  Half Day has the better coffee and has a mean breakfast panini . .

You can always count on a solid mean with good service..

Sorry for not having half stars, but this is a 3.5

I never realized how big this restaurant was because the front of the building is tiny,
but as soon as you pull into the parking lot (yup, the huge lot behind), you'll see!
Plenty of parking, plenty of wait at sunny brunch time.
There's free coffee while you wait, which is nice for those who really need it.

Our server was professional, although a bit cold and cafeteria-like.
Food arrived really quickly and was very hot (which I appreciate),
I really liked their corn chowder of the day, while I found the scramble to be a bit plain.
Atmosphere was fine, open and spacious, with a really cute patio for warmer days.
Overall a good spot for breakfast/lunches, because there can never be too many of those,
but there was nothing that particularly wowed me.

I came here for breakfast with my girlfriends, and we had a great breakfast! I had a "make your own omelet" with sausage, cheddar, spinach, tomato. It comes with a side of potatoes/hash-browns, pastry/toast. I had the hash-browns and whole-wheat toast. The portions are pretty generous. I ordered a chai latte as well which was sooooo good. A lot of cinnamon and foam, probably the best chai latte I've ever had. I was a little surprised when i saw it costs almost $5, but the cup is very very big.

The omelet was very good, but the sausage could have tasted a little better. The hash-browns were made perfectly, and the toast was good too. I'm definitely coming back!

Also, service is fast and friendly. The place was packed!

Came here on a Saturday morning before a hike up Mt. Tam. Around 11am it was busy but I came just in time to get the last table. I love this place because of its homey, intimate family setting. It's the perfect place to eat with family and friends - everyone here is very friendly! The only downside is that everything echoes in this building so it gets noisy!

I ordered the Eggs Benedict and the bf got two eggs over easy. The eggs were cooked to perfection. We both love over easy, runny eggs and have yet to perfect making them on our own, so it's a big treat when we get them. My breakfast was very tasty! The hollandaise sauce wasn't too rich or overwhelming and tasted great with the eggs, ham, and muffin. I would say that the portions here are rather small, but it made for a perfect breakfast before our adventure!!

Although I am not a breakfast/brunch kind of girl, I'll be coming back for more! Next time I will be coming back after 11:30 to taste their lunch specials!

This is not a dog friendly restaurant.

As of June 2010, the Marin County Dept. of Environmental Health changed the rules allowing dogs in outside dining areas as long as there is outdoor access.

Half Day Cafe does not allow dogs and for a dog friendly county this seems uncalled for.  It's the only restaurant that I've been to that prohibits this.  They said it was for insurance purposes which I question.

The food may be good but the service isn't and will never eat there.

Wow. I grew up in Marin, moved away and recently returned. This morning I met a friend for breakfast at the Half Day Cafe and it is nothing like it used to be. The owners really should be ashamed of serving that kind of slop. Clearly they are only doing it for the money. They have had the lease for years so they can't use the rent as an excuse for the cheap ingredients. The entire staff, with the exception of one woman is Hispanic and it shows in the food. They are hired guns who lack any kind of commitment to the food they are serving. It's actually the epitome of what is wrong in our culture these days: The preparation and offering of food that comes from Sysco, made by minimum wage employees served to the rich who don't even seem to notice. I really could write a dissertation on the Half Day Cafe but I'll spare you.

All you need to know is that the food is devoid of consciousness and therefore flavorless. Their "scones" are rocks made with the cheapest, flavorless butter. They "Brioche" french toast isn't brioche but rather just thickly sliced egg bread. The "orange butter" which sounds so exotic is really just a recipe for using cheap butter. The "maple" syrup is full of corn syrup.  The house-special "scrambles are made with "egg" from a container that they ladle into a pan.

What used to be a great place to eat has devolved into a shameful food dispensary. The owners should scale back their personal expenses and hire someone to help them make this place what it used to be. There is no excuse to pump out that kind of crap.

This place gets 5 stars and I will tell you why.
Its not fancy, its not "new age", its not something you would drive 100 miles to experience.
What it is, is, authentic, delicious, comfortable and quick.
The food is so tasty and the service is good- not in your face but definitely met all of my tables needs.
They have a patio which looks stunning in the sun, and an open kitchen!

100% confused that it's taken me so long to review this place.  It truly is one of my favorite places to grab a brunch nosh in any place that I've lived.  Housed in an old auto garage it's all windows, high ceilings, and happiness.

They have an extensive brunch selection to suit even the fussiest Marinite--lots of pre-built egg creations, but also make your own omelettes/tofu scramble.  For the grains, grain bowls, whole wheat raspberry pancakes, sunflower seed waffles, the works.  They also do burgers and salads, but the breakie is so good it's not worth branching out.

Best part of the egg dishes?  For 25 cents, you can have a godly muffin (or scone or other baked good) w/ your meal.  Usually a skeptic of baked goods that are foisted on me, these are A+--always have a thick crumble topping, hiding a bounty of fruity goodness.  Truly worth the splurge.

It's always busy, so if you go after 10ish, expect to wait anywhere for 10 min to an hour, but it's worth it.

Drove in from Napa en route back to the city on Sunday.  We came right in, told there was a 15 minute wait, but only ended up waiting for 5 minutes.  We probably would've preferred to sit outside, but first available was inside.

I enjoyed how big the two tops were; it gave us plenty of room to spread out all of our food.  I also enjoyed feeling like I was on a tropical island in the caribbean.  The ceilings were wooden, there were a ton of plants around and it was very bright, making it feel very island-esque.

Con is that the waitress was not nice and very short with us.  She snapped back at me after asking if I wanted sugar with my coffee, which I answered yes and said I would need cream as well.  I was then told it was right on the table in a rude manner.   There were also a good number of flies everywhere hovering over everyone and their food.

Food was decently good.  I had an egg white omelette with tomatoes, pepperjack, avocado, and bacon and red potato homefries.  The bacon was cooked well done, just how I like it and the red potato homefries were pretty delicious.

Everything else was just kind of blah and there was nothing that looked really delicious or creative on the menu.  I'm 100% sure I won't be going back.

Popped in for breakfast after a recommendation from a fellow yelper. Really nice spot in a quiet part of town. Sat outside as it was nice and warm. Server was friendly and attentive. Ordered Two Eggs, Hash brown, and Bacon with English muffins. Arrived pretty promptly. Food was pretty good but not excellent, I expected a bit more from my hash browns. My friend had the same as me but with their homemade sausage. Being English I consider myself a sausage connoisseur ;) Didn't rate the sausage which came as a patty.

Don't be put off by the three stars, it's still a nice place to eat, just wasn't as good as I was expecting.

Had breakfast there for the first time today. I think we were pleasantly suprised by how good and fresh all the food was. Also suprising was the supplements you could add to your food for $0.50, like Bee Pollen, Spriulina, Protein powder, etc... LOVE that

I had the super yummy french toast w/ orange butter. My husband had regular egg breakfast with hashbrowns and bacon. All was tasty.

Also have to mention the fruit plate-- It was full of GOOD fruit: strawberries, banana, kiwi, oranges, cantaloupe and other melon. I was THRILLED that it wasn't all melon.

Lots of good, healthy options to chose from, and some not-so-healthy options if you're looking to treat yourself. Great place to take your parents out for brunch. Just mind the wait, or call ahead and ask.

also, they do pick up! perfect for those super hungover days.

There must have been 200 runners all going in the same direction.  I stepped aside to look down the trail but I never saw what was chasing them.  So, then, I took the occasion of this disruption of my walk to step in the "front door" of the Half Day Café.

The front door is actually the service entrance for take-out.
The restaurant's real front door, for sit-down eaters, is in the back.  They enter from the parking lot - so you can walk a few steps directly after parking your BMW there.
I don't go in the back front door very often any more.

I go in the front front door for take-out.
The Half Day Café is located roughly at the mid-point of the trail between Larkspur and Ross.  So I am often tempted to take a break from the trail to get some crumb-cake coffee-cake at the front front counter and then just eat it shamelessly as I continue walking down the trail.
Actually I am not completely shameless:  I secretly resolve not to stop off the trail for take-out crumb-cake ever again.

My resolution is good for the day.

Don't get me wrong for giving three stars to this place.

The food was great!, especially, the freshly made orange currant scones with orange butter... yuummm!! It was soo good!

The place is pretty cozy, and I might go back to the place for brunch on some lazy Sundays in the future.

    BUT, here are my complains:

    1. When we got there, NO ONE attended to us to take our orders- we locked eyes with a waitress, and I smiled and said "hi".  Gosh! she IGNORED me. I thought, what a B!!! (1st waitress) so, she told someone else (2nd waitress) from another section of that place to attend to us (that was my only rational since the 1st waitress was attending to the table next to us, and we sat by the door).

    2. The buzz boys were more attentive to what we needed than the waitress. Can't blame her.. where our table was, wasn't her section.. (again, my rational, because I didn't see her (2nd waitress) attending to tables nearby)

    3. And, I guess, because the waitress was too busy (whatever!), she brought double of everything! WTF. It explained a lot that she didn't pay attention to our table.

    4. I found a- what looked like- rolled paper INSIDE the jam that was placed on our table along with scone crumbs. YUCK!!!

So, in short, CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!! although the food is pretty good. But, I guess, it's Marin?? and the fact that we don't blend with the rest of the people who were eating made a difference?! I don't know, I don't want to think so, but, it was rather a horrible experience.

I cannot WAIT to get back to the bay area just so I can have the Kahlua french toast again! The last time I was here the weather was perfect, the wait was short, our server was attentive without being overwhelmingly so, and I had the AMAZING french toast (made with brioche!) (I LOVE BRIOCHE!) with orange butter (I love oranges and butter, too! ORANGEBUTTER!)  and chicken apple sausage and - the best part - hella strong coffee. I mean, when I drink coffee I want to know I'm drinking COFFEE you know?

The only thing I didn't like was that  while dining inside I looked through the window at the outside diners and saw a guy eating a burger. Then I wanted a burger, too. Also, even though I was told how fantastic the cinnamon rolls are I didn't order one of those, either. Therefore I give myself only 3 stars.

Hands down the BEST biscuits ever.  I like mine warm, fluffy and buttery so the jelly melts into them.  They serve them with home made orange butter. OMG.  You will never have them any other way again!
Get there early to get a seat (opens at 8am) or bring a sweater and sit outside in their lovely courtyard amidst sunbeams, ivy and flowers.
Great attentive service, delicious omelettes and lots of space.  Great for families.

Hubby and I have been to the Half Day cafe several times now and we're in love with it.  Service is usually very friendly and prompt even when they're slammed.  We have yet to sit outside, so we better do that soon before it gets too chilly.  The place has a very local/community feel to it (quite Marin-ish though).  The eggs and normal dishes are awesome (don't get me started on the amazing pastries).

On our first visit the waitress took the time to explain the difference between over-easy, over-medium and over-hard.  Thanks nice lady!

    It's the half-day but ALL-purpose brunch cafe!

Looking for a romantic brunch with your honey at a place where you can gaze into each other eyes as the birds tweet in the trees overhead?  (Get a corner table or a side table outside.)

Need some eggs & biscuits and coffee to recover from the evening before?  (Sit at the bench just inside the door - close to the kitchen & hot-caffeine-source, and easy to make a quick getaway ... in case things are different than they appeared with the previous night's beer goggles.)

Want a great place to take the 'rents for a family gathering *you* can offer to pay for?

Need a place where the kiddos are welcome but the adults can get some good food, too?

Need to carbo-load before a weekend hike up Mt. Tam?

Half-day cafe has it all.  It's not the kind of place I'd suggest for a business meeting (although there was one going on right next to us on Sunday).  It's a casual, friendly place for great omlettes, eggs, pancakes, waffles, sandwiches.  [For the Peninsula/South Bay folks, I call it the Marin cross between Stacks & Hobees.]  It has a sunny, airy, relaxed but busy feel to it.  Outside dining (in a shady patio) is great.  Inside has a diner feel to it.

Food is great.  Portions are normal-sized, not huge.  Specials are great.  If they have the cinnamon whipped cream, do NOT pass it up!  Yesterday I had the whole-wheat sunflower waffle.  Don't be afraid to experiment with things that sound a little different - I've not been disappointed yet!

Scones & biscuits and cinnamon rolls galore!  Beware of the eyes-larger-than-stomach problem, as the baked goods are delicious when hot and fresh but ... well, my dog loved the day-old scone.

Any place that serves up cinnamon rolls  with my scramble gets my vote.

Great setting and even better food.  I agree with the other reviewers that their service could be a bit better...hence only 4 stars.

I've had brunch here a number of times.  They make an awesome breakfast.  Everything comes just perfect.  Really good eggs benedict.  Percect bacon.  Amazing omelettes.  They offer delicious homemade scones as a choice instead of toast.  The coffee is great too.

The interior is as awesome as the food.  There are tons of windows looking out onto greenery, and a huge vaulted cieling with exposed beams.  It's very roomy, light and beautiful.

The downside of this place is that it is seriously packed for weekend brunch, and there will be a wait for a table.  The service is generally good, but your waiter will be rushing around like crazy and so he may be a little brusque.  The check comes while you've still got food on your plate, and so I end up feeling a little rushed to complete and get out of there to make way for the people waiting by the door for a table.  If you want a relaxing brunch where you can sit for a while afterwards sipping your coffee and reading the paper, this may not be your place, on the weekends anyway.  I don't know what it's like on weekdays.

If you want a really good breakfast in a beautiful setting, and you don't mind waiting a bit, Half Day Cafe is highly recomended to you.

Overall, everything was OK. We knew we were in for a long wait-to be expected on a Sunday during the brunch hours. We were seated a nice little table towards the back. Menus were handed out and orders taken too promptly. I should have asked for another minute, review all the options. I went with the "build your own scramble". Had egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, green chilies, and jack cheese. Home fries on the side. My BF went with the classic Benedict, based on another yelp'ers review.  They turn the food out in that kitchen. we had our order with in 5 minutes of ordering!

The first thing we both noticed was the food was just ok. Not great, just adequate. They were also very skimpy on the potatoes. Not that I finished all of mine. I'm just accustomed to the classic American diner style.

The people watching is by far better than the food. Wow-so this is what people refer to as "marin people"!!! So funny! We live in marin, but certainly are not those people. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy the finer things in life, but WOW. So self absorbed! Classic!

You know those Sunday mornings when you wake up a little later than usual?  Or maybe you've lounged around a little thinking you should go for a run, but pancakes, bacon and a cup a joe sound so much better?  If so, head on over to the Half Day Cafe.

It's open and airy.  It's a little "too Marin" for my taste, with all the Mercedes parked outside, but the food is darn good.  Each egg dish comes with your choice of hash browns, potatoes, or fruit (get the hash browns) and your choice of pastry or bread (get the blueberry/lemon scone)!  All in all, it's truly satisfying, truly delish, and reasonably priced.  Plus, despite the long lines, they move you in fast.

I went yesterday and was glad I opted for brunch over a run.
