Great idea! Food, Booze, and Laundry. The burgers are fantastic! 1/3 lb burgers made nice and flat...the burgers aren't stacked so high that you can't put your mouth around them, but they have all the fixings! I had the Frito chili pie burger...mmmm! Perfect! There is a nice selection of beer. And the desserts sounded delish (I didn't have any room for it). This place is a find!

My boyfriend and I (that's right) ordered some burgers from here after reading the reviews. I'm not sure if it's because we got them to-go or what the deal is...but they were bad.
Our fries were soft and oily, completely lacking in flavor. The burgers were lack luster - my addition of avocado added up to two measly slices (easily only 1/8 of a whole avocado). I don't enjoy paying for additions when I could easily just scrape them off of a plate from any generic Mexican place.
I wanted so badly to at least enjoy the meat (ya know?) and bun of my burger - no such luck. The patty could have been taken off of a Wendy's burger (not the latest ones, but a vintage square patty of mystery meat) and the bun was so sweet and sticky that I felt it would be more at home wrapping a kolache.

All in all, I won't be going back.

Washbangers's Banger Burger is hands down the best hamburger I've ever had. I used to eat here all the time and when I was back in town this weekend I just had to stop through. The sourdough buns are phenomenal. I'm a fan of the chips and queso as well.

They made A LOT of changes since I've been there last.

Discontinued: Cheese sticks, non-microbrewed beer, release form wings

No joke...we used to eat their cheese sticks ALL the time. The Texas microbrewed beer only concept was a huge change, but I think it's really cool. As long as the Banger Burger exists, I'll be a customer when I come to town.

What a concept- laundry, burgers, and beer!
Unfortunately, you're going to have to pay a little extra for the convenience. However, if you try a burger there, I'm sure you'll realize it is well worth it.
The service was prompt and friendly, no issues there to speak of.
The burgers here were nothing short of excellent. I rarely eat red meat but when I do it had better be worth it- and it was. The buns were sooooo fresh too! How much better can it get? Well, if you're a fried pickle fan like I am then you're in for a treat. The crispy fried pickles are battered, fried, sprinkled with dill, and served with ranch dressing. I'm positively drooling just reminiscing my dinner there!
So the menu may be somewhat limited in food selection, but the beer selection makes up for it. What better way to enjoy a tasty burger than to wash it down with a cold one?
Sadly I forgot to save room for dessert. Which positively breaks my heart- I really wanted to try that often recommended peanut butter pie. Hmmm- guess that means I will have to go back there soon! ;)

Washbanger's rules!! They have tasty beers from all over Texas, all of the time. No crap on tap! Everyone is always excited to tell you about the new beers and which ones are their favorites. Thursday sometimes feature a one off or limited run cask of an extra special seasonal beer + glassware.

Their food is really tasty, too. They have daily soup/burger/dessert specials that rotate really frequently and almost always involve one of the great beers they have on tap. This isn't the best place for a vegetarian (oops, that's me), but they'll put whatever tasty cheeses and friends they have on a grilled cheese, and make a patty melt minus the patty - best fancy grilled cheese EVER!

Just had one of the best meals ever at Harvey Washbangers. The Frito pie burger was delicious and the onion rings were deep fried to perfection with sweet onions and just the right amount of batter to make them crispy, scrumptious and delightful. Plus, with great craft beer, excellent service, and a friendly and jovial atmosphere while watching sports at the bar ... it was the perfect night out. Definitely an enjoyable night!

Grub Burger Bar has the edge with craft burgers, but Washbangers has the edge with craft beers. Between these two places, we have craft burger paradise. Had the hatch chili and goat cheese burger recently and it really blew me away. As the photos attest, you can get some really disgusting looking things here too, if you are of the "Yes I want to get FAT!" mindset. And while I wish they offered a few more healthy(er) items the way Grub does, but regardless, these are two gourmet burger joints with quirky atmospheres that i am grateful to have around.

I love this place! It's a little expensive for laundry, but it's just too convenient. I have access to food & beer while I wait for my clothes? And not just any beer, starting this weekend it'll be ALL Texas craft beers on draft. They are the only place in College Station to get Austin Beerworks and one of the only places to get New Republic's stuff (try it).

I want to give them five stars but the prices are a bit on the pricey side.

The quality and service have definitely gone down since the last change in ownership. Please bring back the brothers or the cute old couple who managed! A lot of the menu and beer items were removed when the new person took over. Burgers aren't as good, wings taste like they are fried in batches beforehand, not cooked when ordered. Club sandwiches just aren't the same. Servers are friendly but have to be reminded about napkins, silverware and condiments, all while the owner laughed behind the bar with employees.

Miss the old Harvey's!

NOTORIETY: Eat a meal while doing laundry.

FOOD:
Old Army Fries: Conceptually, this was a great cheat meal. Fries covered in gravy, cheese, taco meat, & jalapeno slices. Problem is the taco meat was a bit dry & fries could have been a bit more crunchy. Decent, filling meal nevertheless.

OVERALL: Nice concept (laundry+restaurant) however the food was ok.

TIPS:
1. Lunch special: M-F, 11am-3pm, they have a different $6.50 special that includes an entree & drink.
2. Mondays: 45 cent wings

We've done take-out from Harvey Washbangers at least three times in the last two weeks. They get the order ready super quick (faster than I can leave my house and drive there). Hubby has stuck with the club, which is excellent and super filling. They have one of the best philly cheesesteaks in town and the BLT is classically excellent. Skip on the chicken fingers though, after you've had Layne's, nothing out of a freezer even tastes very good. Haven't tried the burger yet, but soon.

What a cool concept! One of the best Phillies I have ever eaten. The hot wings will knock you out... literally. Seriously, do not eat them! Or do, but don't say you weren't warned. Back to the philly - awesome bun, perfectly grilled veggies, awesome melted cheese, and delicious meat. Did I mention they have a ton of beers AND you can do laundry? Why leave?

We've been eating here for years, wonder why I haven't reviewed it yet? Hmmm? Guess my age is setting in.

I fell in love with Harvey's while working across the street. Good price, to-go option and it's just dang good. Now that I'm across town I don't get to enjoy them as much.

The burgers are awesome, the bun which the menu says is a sourdough, has a hint of sweetness. Very fresh and filling.

The last time we stopped in we got the fries with all the stuff piled on, taco meat, gravy cheese, they were pretty good.

I really wanted to give five star but ain't gonna. I know it's a sports bar too but dudes must you have the loudest conversation in history about your "member". I really don't care that it works better now than when you were 18 nor do I care to hear about all it's stellar characteristics.

One family got up and left and the other tables had heads turn and were gaping at the "pee-pee" boys convo.

Harvey's could ya at least asked them to speak a few hundred decibles lower? Thanks!

Some of the time you need to just listen to the natives. Recently asked my friend Kirby (whom was born and raised in College Station) "Where is the best burger in Bryan / College Station?" She said, much to my surprise, "Harvey Washbangers". So we went that very night.

Outstanding unique burger. This is right up on the top level with Stover Boys and Koppe Bridge (original location only on Wellborn). The bread was extremely fresh from a "local bakery" as I was told when asking, and the burgers were succulent to the last bite.

Apparently there used to be several locations yet this is the last of a locally owned chain that used to be.

I do recommend it. It's a little pricey for a beer though, which is why I can't give 5 stars, as a single 12 ounce German Wheat beer is $5 when you can get a whole 6 pack across the street at SPECS for $8.

I used to come here back in the day, lured in by the bar food, beer, and convenience. I wouldn't have to sit in a bleak, dreary laundromat to mind my machine and avoid eye contact with some of those who frequent them.

But if money is tight, this place isn't the cheapest washateria. And the temptation of a bar with a kitchen is tough for some students. Especially since their bar-food is priced a bit steep.

I haven't been to a washateria in some time, but I have been frustrated with the chicken wings in town. They are always overcooked. Some places post a policy of an internal temperature of 200 degrees F. That results in dry, tough wings.

For this reason, I returned to Harvey's, this time for take-out. A couple weeks ago, I had a large (15) wings & a bowl of chili. This week, I had the wings again. The first time, the wings were very large, but the sauce was super tangy, and 2-dimensional. The second time the wings were smaller, and I asked them to take it easy on the sauce, after I learned they only had one wing sauce (other than the Dave's Insanity or Ultimate Insanity extract sauce they use on their release form wings.)

But the chili was lame. It was cram-packed with beans. It contained both pinto, and darker navy beans. This was disappointing. Beans should never be cooked in the gravy of even cheap chili, since a lot of starch and muddy water comes out when the beans are boiled, and this continues during a subsequent long cook & simmer of the meat gravy. This leaves the chili heavy, and can add a muddy or bitter taste. Beans should be boiled & rinsed separately, and if they can't be offered separately to be added by the diner, then they should only be added when the gravy is cooling. The chili gravy tasted like canned, and fresh ground beef had been added. If it was made from 'scratch' as the website claims, then would that include an instant mix?

Another thing that bothered me was the lack of a burger-only entry on their menu. I'm sure if you ask them for just a burger, they'd make you one, but their website http://www.washbangers.c… (the website doesn't list prices), or their printed menus, list two burger & fries combos (no drink included). These 2 also appear as a couple of lunch specials with a soft drink.
So if I wanted their Banger Burger deal w/ fries, I'd have to shell out $7.29+tax, and bacon, cheese?, mushrooms, jalapenos, or something to wash it down, are all extra. Unless I come in at lunch. On Wednesday.

Nevertheless, I will return for their wings, which are the best in town.

While there are some major pluses to doing your laundry at Harvey's, there are a few drawbacks as well. Including the price. They scalp you there! Your best bet it to wait two months, and stuff everything into those jumbo sized washing machines (I think they're supposed to hold 3 loads at once). The other downfall is the beer. Somehow they way they filter the beer, everything comes out tasting greasy. Not sure how they managed to do that, but it was a major downer.

The great part about going to Harvey's is the social aspect. It is easy to go with friends, study, watch the game, or eat while doing something that everyone has to do. The food is a tad expensive, but they can charge whatever they want since they're the only major game in town. Oh, and you can't forget that they took away the quarter system and now you get a card that you swipe--smart move. You can also drop you laundry off and pay someone to do it for you--like dry cleaning, but a hell of a lot cheaper. I noticed a lot of cadets did this, probably because their laundry place is always full on campus.

Either way, I'm glad I live in a place that doesn't require me driving to do my laundry anymore!

what a concept! You walk in, someone helps you get your laundry started, no quarters, she just slips an ATM-like card into the machine...gets your soap, starts the machine, then says, "go into the bar area and you'll see some lights on a board...when your light goes out, your laundry will be ready. So I'm in the bar, sipping wine, thinking about ordering some food, and the light goes out. I wander back into the laundry area, take my stuff out, put it into the dryer, and she comes up again and says, OK, I'll put 16 minutes in for you...if you need more, just ask. I'm thinking, laundry isn't supposed to be fun, why am I enjoying this? I go back into the bar, which has TV's, oldies music on, and more wine, watch for my light to go off on the board, and thinking, THIS IS A GOLD MINE, I want to start one of these! Icing on the cake: I'm collecting my stuff, and same woman walks up and hands me an errant sock I'd left behind...then gives me my total: $5.50,....unreal. Bar, food, laundry, customer service. There's a concept!

This place rocks. Flat out.

Laundry is my absolute least favorite thing to do in the world. Other than vacuuming. Or vomiting blood. Or sweating out pregnancy scares with the girlfriend. Yet this place makes it bearable, if not occasionally fun.

The place is a typical suds and duds venue, with a barin the front 20% or so of the building, and the cleanest washing machines (and dryers) in the back. The bar also has a kitchen, which rustles up the best burger in town by a mile. Also has decent wings, and a nice customers vs cooks "release form" wings contest. Bartenders are cool, too.
