    Cool place to hang out.

On Mondays they give out free pizza to the military!  WHAT???  Yup that's right.  Juicy hot slices of cheese and pepperoni, two slices at a time, after you show em your ID.  Well I'll be damned!

You can also order your own pizza.  Imagine that!  They have white sauce and red sauce.  I recommend the red sauce as the white one doesn't taste like anything.  The pizza was good.  On the night we came our food took a LONG time to come out, and there were people smoking inside.  I guess when it gets warmer they would open the tarp and we would technically be outside.  But with the tarp it's really like indoors and cigarette smoke in enclosed space while eating?  I felt like I was sitting in the dirty trailer of some Jerry Springer candidate trying to choke down a can of spam while gasping for air.  Uber trash all the way.

The parking lot is like something out of Ethiopia or Cambodia.  Unpaved, mud tracks, pot holes, no organization, just a hodge podge of cars and trucks.

One of the waitresses was also just a bitch, to put it simply.  She had on some sort of purple sweatshirt and was a little chubby around the lower tummy area.  We asked her to take a photo, she said she'd do it when she came back.  When she came back we asked again, brandishing a camera ready to go, she said she will go get our waitress instead.  In the time it would take for you to track down our waitress, you could have just aimed and pressed a goddamn button you stupid cunt.  So we just left without taking any photos and we walked right by her on our way out and she didn't say a word.  Just a dumb unhappy overweight bitch who hates her life and hates the customers here even more.

But free pizza Mondays?  I got to give some props for that and the guy working behind that counter was very friendly.  If not for the dumb bitch in the purple sweatshirt this place would be a solid five star.

great atmosphere during the last 5 hours of the day. once the sun goes down, look out. the place can fill up with some strange people. During daylight hours, it's a nice family friendly place with great pizza and a very nice happy hour. also, they keep the most up to date golden tee machine.

Divey local's bar in the Fort that's a little off the beaten path.

The pros? There's a ton of floor space, a large outdoor patio on the water and tons of TVs for watching sports.  The prices are very reasonable, they have a good food menu with really awesome pizza and somehow manage to have live music that isn't too loud.  There's also foosball, pool tables, video games and other distractions to keep you entertained.

The cons?  There's a large empty parking lot right next door that would be a great place to park when the joint fills up, but it's off limits.  So parking can get rough to the point of your giving up and leaving.  Service can be really tepid, as well, depending on what kind of at-home or boyfriend drama your bartender or cocktailer is going through.  So be sure to get a bucket, or drink slowly.

All in all, though, it's a cool place and the owner caters to the football crowd.

If I lived here, this would be my JOINT.   The pizza is excellent and the drink specials are great.    The view and the patio are amazing.   Also there is tons of seating and was a great option for my family of like, fifty, on my aunt's b-day.

We went for happy hour and came back the next day for Ladie's Night.    Both are excellent deals for heavy drinkers, which I am.   $1 slices and two for one drinks?  Happy hour indeed.  Ladies drink free, Crown and down, from 9-12 on Wednesdays?   I would never work a Thursday morning again.

Helen Back, come to Indianapolis plz.

Every trip to FWB deserves a stop at Helen Back.  The pizza is a must get and the beer is always great (both cheap!).  Large decks outside with plenty of TVs.

TIP: they don't accept AMEX but VISA works fine

I have been here several times over the years, and once even for a Christmas party. Drinks and beer have always been great. When I had my wave-runner I docked out back once and had pizza which was cool. The pizza: 3 months ago I had a small pizza and it was the best pizza I've had in a long time. A neighbor recently took me over for beer and pizza and the bear was great but the large pizza was not as good as the small one I had earlier. I will head back for a small pizza again soon. This is the original Helen Back and everyone seems to really like it.

It is a divey-ish place with the key term being "ish". Perhaps the open air feel and spectacular marina view makes it not so divey. Yet the feel is as if you walked into a small biker bar where people are drinking Bud and having a good time. As mentioned, the outdoor patio is where it's at. Menu is simple with typical bar fare (don't come here looking for grilled fish or baskets of fried clams). What you must get is their pizza. Having been here numerous times over the years, I have decided that their cheese pizza, albeit simple, is phenom. It is indeed greasy, etc. but will satisfy that "i want something greasy to fill me up" urge. Service is hit or miss, but never bad (this last week our waitress was great!) All in all, recommend coming here for a draft and a pie.

OK OK FINE.. I have to admit that drinking here is fun, the people watching is great and when you're drunk, the pizza isn't half bad. Yes, it's still greasy and yes, the cheese falls right off the cardboard, i mean, crust, but the taste is fine. Thought I'd be nice and update.

Good: tasty pizza, spot on the water, not touristy, ring game, many TVs
Bad: Dive bar, very poor service

LMAO at the people who say the pizza is good.. You are just drunk and if you ate the greasy cardboard you would not know the difference... If you want pizza and beer go to Mellow Mushroom.

Good bar.  Mostly locals.  Great pizza for the area.  Military gets free pizza Monday nights after 7:30.  The staff is friendly for the most part, but when it gets busy sometimes the servers forget to check back with you.  It's off the beaten path a bit and has a gravel parking lot.  I don't really like to sit inside because it is extremely smokey.

This is definitely a dive. Its a typical beachside, non-touristy, locals hangout within the tourist mecca of FWB.  Helen Back's was crowded with all types:  your local surfer dude to suits getting off from work.  Daughter says she comes here alot with her friends because the pizza is good and cheap, and the drinks are cold and cheap! Especially during 'special' nights~~the locals discount nights.
Military frequent this place alot since its good eats and cold beer and close to the base.
Ordered a pie to go. It was ordinary but its probably because we got it togo instead of eating in.  So I'm rating this based on the take home pizza.
Friendly staff who checks on you all of the time so you won't go thirsty.

This place is a great dive bar in Ft. Walton Beach. It's rare to find a non-touristy place in this area, but this is one of them. It's in a big party area, but still off the beaten path. So the tourists don't seem to find the place, it's strictly FWB locals. The crowd is kind of trashy, but that's part of the charm. The beer is cheap and pizza is awesome. The outdoor seating is nice, right on the docks. There are two more bars outside as well, so you don't even have to navigate the crowds inside to get another beer. I recommend the place.

Helen Back just made Esquire's Top Bars list, which I don't necessarily think it should have (there are way better bars in this country than Helen Back), but it's still a great place for pizza.  Tucked away with a nice view of the Sound, it's a total local hangout.  A good way to get away from the more touristy parts of town.

Nice hole in the wall hidden bar.  Pizza was surprisingly good if a little too greasy.  Did the ring on the hook thing after drinking awhile. Good service, friendly. Would go again.

Absolutely awesome pizza.  Great Harley specials, on the water with sail up access.  Cold beer and great drink specials.  A great dive bar in all respects.  Catch NASCAR, Football and yes even FUTBOL all at the same time.  Staff is friendly, but can get swamped when it gets busy.  All in all a great place to be.  This gets the Monkey Seal of Approval

I love shitty looking bars, and when they're on/near the water and serve food then you can stick a fork in me because I'm pretty much good to go. The pizza crust here is the real winner. I've tried everything to duplicate it at home, but they've got a special way of salting their crust just right, either that or I'm just a lousy cook. The bar itself is like everyone says a dive, though only comparably speaking to all the huge clubs and bars around FWB and Destin, it's not like this place has filth all over the walls and rats running around underneath.

We went there on Monday night after a wonderful dinner on the last night of our honeymoon (our server recommended the place). We wanted to see the football game, and what a surprise this place was! We walked in to see the inside back of the bar filled with Redskins fans and the front half and deck filled with Steelers fans. We went out on the deck to cheer for my Steelers. They were very busy, so service for hit-and-miss, but we got two rounds of drinks (the second after searching for our waitress). The speaker boxes on the tables are the coolest! If you go on a day where there is more than one game, you can hear yours specifically while you watch the screen yours is on. What a smart invention! Bathrooms were clean. The dock is beautiful. All in all, a huge improvement over silly bimini in Destin. Great place to have a beer and watch a game.

I went here this summer when I visited Florida. It's so...Fort Walton Beach. I don't know if that is good or bad. It reminded me of The Point on the Strip. It wasn't really gross, just sort of unkempt.

There is a string hanging from the ceiling with a ring tied to it that people try to catch on a hook in the wall. It's a game people play. It sounds so country, I know, but it's kind of fun. Plus you meet random people doing it because people just kind of gather around it.

It's one of those places you see like 18 people from your past because people really seem to like this place. It's actually pretty fun even though it isn't the classiest joint. I would go back at some point whenever I return to Fort Walton Beach for a visit. The coolest part is the dock in the back. It was summer so we took our drinks out there and looked at the water for a while. Neat-o.

Went here on vacation with friends. The door guy was incredibly rude and pushy. He checked our entirely valid IDs for ten minutes before he would let us in and then he came to our table and demanded them again. We asked him how the place works and he said we could sit anywhere and he didn't tell us we had to order at the bar. We asked the sort-of hostess for menus and she was just as unhelpful.

Classic dive bar.   I went there for lunch.
You have to go to the bar or up to the kitchen window for service but once you're there it's pretty good.  The pizza is very good and has a salty crust.  Also, they don't charge extra for standard toppings making the works the same price as a cheese pizza.

Also,  if you have a boat, you can get to the restaurant by pulling up to the dock in the back.  Unfortunately,  I don't but I hung out on the dock anyways and saw a crab swimming on the surface of the water.  I didn't know that they could do that.
