This was my plan B since Coyles closed 30 mins prior to actually closing down. And by plan B i mean I found it by surprise due to unfortunate circumstances lawlz. This place is located a block away from Bay Shore's Main street. They might be conflicted in what crowd their trying to attract especially with their tapa's menu and up to date interior.
If you take away the dining area tables this place is a small club with VIP tables in the back. They sat my sister and I in small booths which had mosquito's flying around (they had the doors open and no ac -_-). We came here to satisfy our sweet cravings and ordered a Orange Olive Oil Cake along with a Chocolate Trip with a scoop of ice cream. After close to 15 mins our desserts came (all made in house) I was kinda surprised at the lack of portions but it was just right. The cake had this awesome green tea gelato which can't be beat and the chocolate trio satisfied the chocolate obsessed cravings (my sis).
Their's tapa's menu looked amazing which is what I hope to try when I come back. They also had a live Jazz band play which was nice.
Open since February, and we at DebsFood didn't know? Hemisphere is part Lounge (Jazzy & Blues) and part Tapas/Gastro-Pub. Now that's a combination for you and, as it happened to turn out, a combination I loved. The decor is stunning (I tried to get one of the chandeliers, but they were hand-made blown glass, just for the bar), cozy and warm, but bright enough so you know you are in for a special night. Â You can tell that from the cocktail menu that mixologist Chris Cardone has quite a few tricks up his sleeve. Â As for the food menu, its a Tapas-lovers delight. This young Chef has got his hand on the button and I'm going to bet that Jeff Slade and Hemisphere are about to explode. Â We've just got to get the word out. Â His creativity and desire to please is evident in dishes like Diver Scallops w/ Lemon Foam paired with Fried Pork Belly & Polenta Cakes. Fantastic balance. The Fried Crabcakes, formed into balls and served with a mild horseradish cream remained moist inside. The sliders, were surprisingly one of the best dishes on the menu. Despite the fact that everyone is doing it, not everyone does it well. Â Here, we had three incredibly juicy burgers which were actually still pink inside, topped with caramelized onions and melted gruyere cheese on a perfect warm bun. They were over the top delicious. The Lamb Chops served w/ Eggplant Fries were cooked so perfectly they melted in your mouth (the lamb, not the eggplant). The Eggplant Fries were a delightful surprise and completely over-shadowed the fact that there was little in the way of seasoning in the dish. There were maybe one or two dishes out of the 8 we tried that could have used a bit more seasoning, but they were all overshadowed by the Chocolate Trio Dessert. Â Don't miss this one, and check out my profile for more pics and expanded information.
