This a really cool coffee shop and bar.  It is an old gas station redone to be a nice Athens coffee shop.   Must go.

Great spot to grab a cup of joe or a beer after work. Good live music too!

A blissful, cool sanctuary in a hot little town. Familiar, OK drip coffee (I like mine with a little more coffee, but then again my idea of good coffee is a strong Italian roast))- noting that the espressos and other steamy adventures are skillfully assembled. Quirky, cool nooks and crannies. Full bar- and the tasty, seasonal cocktails are, shall I say.. cheap. A happy place, a soulful mission. There's a Welcome mat out for everyone, kids, dogs, hipster parents, future rock Gods and vintage. Live music nights are exceptionally sweet. Check it out- this is the kind of place you want to support. Yum.

As non-corporate as possible:  check.  Grease monkey philosophers:  check.  Great coffee:  check.  Literate conversation:  check.  Okay, I'm home.  Didn't get to catch any music, did discuss culture with a few musicians, no reason to think the evening scene wouldn't be eclectic and delightful.

This place is a pretty rad coffee shop,
where an old gas station used to be.
    They have live music performances
and serve both alcohol and coffee.
There's not much by way of foodstuffs,
though what's there is pretty good.
And it's pretty much the coolest place
on this side of the Athens 'hood.

I can't say how much I LOVE having a coffee shop so close to my house. It's awesome that I can just zip down Oglethorpe and be there in two minutes. I've yet to check out the live music, but I'm a fan of hanging out all afternoon with a coffee or a cider and working on papers. I foresee spending lots of time here when I actually get to my dissertation. Most of the booths have a nearby outlet, making electricity vampires (like me) happy. I also love being able to run a tab and switch between coffee, lattes, and beer or wine. Be sure to bring your own cup/mug for a discount on your coffee, too!

Just what the neighborhood needed. This is an awesome place to chill for a early cup of java and some reading; or, meet up with neighborhood cronies in the evening, even with the family, to enjoy an opaque beverage and local music.

Plus outdoor seating and the neighbor (Transmetropolitan Pizza) adds to the flavors should you like to play human size chess or eat with your pizza while enjoying the music on a Friday or Saturday night at Hendershot's.

I love Hendershot's!  I'm so glad there is finally a decent coffee place in town!!  I think I ordered a White Wedding -- it was nonfat and delicious!  My friend and I also tried a caramel and it was yummy!

What i love most is the atmosphere - very Austin-like.  Try it!

I love Hendershot's! The west side of Athens (out on Oglethorpe Ave near the loop) is finally getting some cool restaurants and places to go:  there's Transmet, Sr. Sol, and now Hendershot's Coffee.

The cafe has coffee all day as well as wine and beer in the evenings. There are early (for Athens, at least) musical acts, open mic nights, and frequent fundraisers for partner businesses. I really dig this place.

Free WiFi. Fabulous owners who are really involved with the community.  Delicious coffee & friendly baristas.
