The food is OK. Â The one star rating is for the service - or should I say what service? Â The bartender seems to think he's a doorman on Rodeo Drive. Â He's great about chatting it up with people who are sitting at the bar but if you sit at a table, he can't seem to see you. Â The chicks who were supposedly waiting on tables wandered through the place without actually coming up to the tables (unless you leave the table and call them over) to take an order. Â The only time we got any attention was when we got up to leave and the bartender double timed up to us to be sure we paid the bill. Â The second beer I ordered never made it to the table. Â Santa Rosa has better options for a bar and grill - better food, better service and lower prices. Â Misstir's is a living advertisement for a self-service tavern.
Review Source:This place has the best calamari and steak sandwiches we have ever eaten. Â Very nice owners. My issue with the wait staff we had the night we were there with some friends, is lack of knowledge of the menu. Â (Don't tell a customer you don't know what something is, find out , be prepared before you take an order.) Also to the bartender, learn your drinks and what glass they should be served in. Â Fix those issues, and next time it will be 5 stars. Â We really like this place, great food.
Review Source:I have come here for the pool but I found an absolute HIDDEN GEM. I have been a calamari fan since I was a kid (you all remember 5th grade dissecting the squid with Mrs. Daw don't you? Well I was the kid that had no problems eating what the others wouldn't touch. I was hooked from the moment I first tasted it.
I have been to many places that serve calamari, and NONE, have come anywhere near the absolute perfection (and he does it every time I go there) of his calamari cooking.
The batter is light, and ah so fluffy. The calamari itself so tender that its just like butter. And than to top if off, the sauce that was served was just so flavorful that it was like the best herbs all in a jubilation of spicy and sweet, to say the least, its extraordinary and worth coming back for every time that I have the craving for that simple yet hard to perfect dish that he has done so well!
I went here for a late lunch. Â The bartender was very friendly. Â There was a fairly large crowd in the bar area considering that it was around 2pm. Â The place is strange. Â The front half is an old Thai restaurant and is set up for sit down dining. Â The back half is very much a neighborhood bar with pinball machines and a pool table. Â You can tell that they just tore out the wall separating the two spaces and tried to make it work. Â It makes for an rather interesting layout and look. Â Overall I would say it is much more of a bar than a restaurant.
The service was ok. Â The bartender was very friendly and was trying but he was split between trying to serve us (the only sit down table) and manage the bar. Â He seems like is would make a much better bar tender than a waiter but was a nice guy. Â
The burgers were very good. Â Not at all what you would expect giving the bar setting. Â The bun was great. Â Large, soft, and flavorful without over taking the meat or falling apart while eating. Â The burgers itself was juicy and flavorful. Â Fairly large and definitely worthwhile. Â
They also had a few Filipino items on the menu. Â I saw a woman that looked Filipino helping out in the kitchen. Â I am not sure if she is the wife of the owner but I am assuming it is her influence that is responsible for the Filipino items. Â We ordered the Lumpia for the kids and they were not very good. Â The children ate them because they were greasy and came with a sweet sauce. Â However, they had almost no filling and were really just cigarette sized sticks of fried wrappers. Â Not worth the calories or the price.
While the burgers were good and the bartender was very friendly I can not recommend this place as a restaurant. Â As a bar it seems like it might be great. Â Good bar food and nice service. Â As a sit down restaurant it just does not work.
