The best pizza I have ever had.
The place has a great ambiance and nice decor. It has a wood burning oven for the pizza. The service was quick and attentive, our waters were filled and our dishes were perfectly timed. They were also very helpful with our reservations, questions, and the specials.
My S.O and I shared the Mediterranean piadine and a Portobello pizza. Â The piadine had an eggplant pesto which coated the bread perfectly, the portion was huge, the greens were fresh and I loved the vinaigrette.
My first bite of the pizza left me absolutely speechless, and I mean that. I truly believe this is the best pizza I have ever tasted. The bite melted in my mouth. It was lemony and creamy. I really recommend this pizza and the restaurant.
Stopped in last night as I had a craving for a fresh caprese salad since it is a summer time staple after all right?!
I have to say that I was less than impressed with this dish... I should have gone to the farmer's market and made it myself. Â The tomatoes were not ripe, the balsamic vinegar and seasoning were lacking. Â The only star was the fresh burrata.
In addition we ordered the signature Oven Roasted Artichoke + Salsa Verde Aioli they pride themselves with. Â I have to say the Salsa Verde aioli was good, the artichoke itself was not. Â It was not cooked well before being roasted; most of the leaves were tough and not edible. Â They serve it with balsamic vinegar on the plate which does not pair well with the other flavors.
Last, I ordered the special of the night, I was told it was a prime rib cut with mashed potatoes and horseradish. Â I asked to have the dish served rare and was shocked to learn it came well done. Â The meat was a pale grey; not pink at all. Â I was told by the server that the meat could not be served with a "pink" finish as per the kitchen. Â Never have I had this experience with this cut of meat. Â
I have been to this establishment many times; have even treated friends to gift certificates as I appreciate the small local business. Â But tonight the experience left me with a blah feeling.
If you are in the mood for a decent thin crust, oven roasted pizza (will get blackened on the edges) and need a gluten free option. Â Go for it. Â You will be happy.
The wine list is also pretty good; a variety to choose from.
