I'm really a chinese buffet snob and I love this place, so I'm sure you will too!
When I first saw that this place is OBVIOUSLY in an old Circuit City building, I chuckled and thought it might be cheesy, but it looks like just about any other chinese buffet on the inside. A nice little fountain at the entrance and quite spacious, but PACKED. I found it a little unnerving that they make you pay before you eat, or even before you can go look at the bar, but I wasn't disappointed once I went in.
They have a HUGE variety of food, a great selection of sushi (though I wish they had seaweed salad just by itself instead of in the little rice-filled wontons). I was also surprised to see they have apple juice (with refills)!
One of my favorite items was what they call "Egg Biscuit Cake," looks a little weird at first, a sort of squishy egg custard biscuit in a light, crispy wonton cup. It's mildly sweet and very delicious. I ate two and then wrapped two more in a napkin for later!
Their "prime rib" was good too. I wouldn't consider it prime rib, really, I would consider it to be more like roast beef, but I liked the cut of meat better than what they called "roast beef."
All in all, I walked away super stuffed and almost sad that I couldn't possibly eat more. The food was great, and with a drink it only cost me about $12.
Pros:
+ Lots of seating space
+ Kind of cheap. Dinner was around 10$/person
+ Had a freezer of ice cream for dessert
Cons:
- Food is terrible at best
- Sushi was NOT fresh and tasted bland though their ginger was good
- American dishes such as prime rib looked unappealing (there was also chicken nuggets and pizza)
- Not much Chinese food but the choices there were greasy and unflavorful
- Random assortment of fried zucchini, hot and sour soup, lo mein, and pasta shells that were all not done very well
- The hibachi grill is in the back and does not look authentic at all - no shrimp or peanut sauce!
- The person taking away our plates was very rude and did not speak English
What I like best about this place is that it has a huge variety of choices. Not only that, it is pretty affordable. Be sure to print the $1.50 coupon if you are going for dinner (they have one for lunch, too). You can find it at http://michianasaver.com… Our coupon was outdated, but they still honored it.
Review Source:What I expect to see when I visit any buffet, whether Chinese, Japanese, or American, is a variety of food choices. Hibachi Grill does just that, "with over 250 items on their buffet bar to include all of your traditional Chinese dishes and a few specialty items such as Hibachi chicken, beef tenderloin, & Italian shrimp".
