Huge restaurant with tons of options for a $10 all you can eat buffet. You can find about anything you can imagine from hibachi, sushi, rice/noodle dishes, fruit, salad and dessert. The food is pretty good but we went on a slow day without much turnover so it looked like the sushi had been sitting out all day and other dishes weren't as fresh as you would like. On a busier day it should be much better. Â It's definitely a place were you eyes will be bigger than your stomach as you will want to throw everything on your plate. Â A good option for sure for Kokomo where you won't leave hungry!
Review Source:Service is terrible. Was in there for an hour and had to hunt down a server to get drinks. It is a buffet, that is all they are responsible for in relation to the customer. She did make sure to be around for the tip, stared at me and kept pushing the bill tray toward me while I was talking to the person I was with.
The food was okay, nothing special. It is way too greasy. The hibachi was the saving grace. He provided good service.
I recommend avoiding this place. Spend your money elsewhere.
Seems to be a new chain, or at least new to this area, have eaten in their Mishawaka and Ft Wayne locations. Â Food is better than usual chinese buffet, large selection of dishes, well done, especially liked the seafood and sushi selections. Â Clean, fresh look, good service. Â Great salad, desert selections also. Â Best Chinese buffet I've been at, especially considering it's a chain.
Review Source:Had heard several people recommend this place and was really surprised. Â Lots to choose from from American, Chinese, and Japanese. Â What I had was really good and was looked upon by our waitress often. Â Would like to have seen some more tables in oppose to booths but will go back again. Â Price is reasonable. Family place to take children.
Review Source:As a former resident of Kokomo who still has family there, I don't expect much from buffets anymore. Our chinese/asian buffet of choice has always been Great Wall, though it's kind of icky if you take a step back and look at it. It's worn down, greasy, and the food sits out for too long, so that's what I was expecting here. I'm pleased to say I was absolutely wrong. The inside of Hibachi is brand new and extremely clean. It's also somewhat modern-asian inspired. When you enter, you pay for your buffet at the cashier like most places (by the way, only ~$6 for lunch? That's insane.) You take your receipt to the hostess who seats you, and a waitress refills your drinks and removes your plates throughout the visit. The buffet itself is astounding. Whereas many asian buffets in the area have maybe 3 or 4 stations, Hibachi has maybe 12. They have a huge assortment of different "chinese food" dishes that you might want, including all the bases of dishes (rice, different noodles), and lots of different types of meat - standards like sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, beef, etc, as well as different items like garlic shrimp and seafood trio). They also have some non-asian things like a baked ham station, macaroni and cheese, wings - lots of things you might see on an asian buffet as an alternative, but these don't seem to be an after thought. And when you glance around the different food items, I never once thought to myself "ew that looks disgusting", like it had been sitting around a while. Everything looked fresh with good color. Hibachi's buffet also includes sushi and the grill. At the grill you put together your own plate from very fresh-looking proteins and veggies and they'll cook it up for you. The sushi is decent, about the same level or so as a grocery chain's sushi. If you've been to The Journey in Indianapolis, I'd say the sushi is comparative. I guess if you have a sushi chef that works at a buffet and the sushi sits out, it'll end up about the same quality. It definitely was a good temperature though, and it had a good flavor. I did think the hard dip ice cream station was a bit weird. I spent a number of years in high school and college working for a place where I had to dip ice cream like that and when you get into the bottom, your hand starts to get sticky from hitting the sides. I don't think people will like that. One other reviewer was complaining about the scooper sitting in murky water. I'll say the water is just to keep the scooper warm and slippery (that's what she said) , and the water isn't supposed to be murky. The waterwell the scooper sits in pretty much is suppose to have a slow drizzle of water that automatically drains so it stays fresh. I kept seeing people turning off the water when they would come up to that station, and I saw workers turn it back on. So blame that partially on morons that turn things off without thinking, though I don't think this station will last into the next year. Overall, Hibachi is definitely going to be the asian buffet of choice in Kokomo. I just hope it doesn't end up getting run down and trashed like other places in Kokomo.
Review Source:For the price of the dinner buffet, it was reasonable. Â The variety was huge and a few different ethnic food. Â There is the fresh hibachi grill food made to order which I did not try. Â Lots of ice cream flavors I did not get to try. Â The sushi was not labeled so I did not try any.
Of the food I ate, I had warmer and better. Â The fruit was fresh and the egg drop soup was great. Â The flavors of the meats were sometimes bland.
Kid friendly with a balloon.
The location is central. Â Among the buffets in Kokomo, I believe I would return to this restaurant.
I would have given this place one star but to be fair I have had worse Chinese buffet before. Â Started out with Sushi. Â Some pieces were luke-warm, which was kinda gross especially considering that the place was packed. Â That suggests that the proteins for the sushi had been sitting somewhere in the kitchen for a while before being brought out to the sushi maker. Â The rest of the sushi was typical of what you would find on your average, mid-western chinese buffet. Â I decided to try out the hibachi grill (mongolian bbq at best). Â The rib eye that I selected was tough and the fat was chewy. Â Didn't have a that great of a selection of noodles or vegetables. Â Also, I asked for some teriyaki sauce and no one knew what I was talking about. Â I thought, "hmm, a restaurant that labels itself hibachi grill and yet no one knows what teriyaki sauce is." Â Crab rangoon was way too sweet as was the thai chicken, hibachi chicken, and treasure shrimp. Â The spare ribs tasted like they had been reheated from frozen. Â The one good thing I tried was the stuffed scallops and I'm not even sure if it had any scallops in it. Â Crab with cheese and cheese spinach were bland and greasy. Â For dessert I had macaroons (delicious), some sort of pastry that tasted like ginger snaps(good), banana pudding (awful), cookies and cream (awful). Â Fortune cookies were probably one of the best parts of this whole experience. Â
In all I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Â I will probably never go back. However, there were a couple of good surprises about the place. Â The decor, while garish, was nicer than any other Chinese buffet that I've been to. Â The fountain was pretty. Â The other surprise was service. Â Although it wasn't overly friendly, they were very fast with clearing tables and refilling drinks. Â Against my better judgment, I left the girl a $2 tip. Â Total bill was $19 and change including tip and one drink.
