Hodle Tavern

I love this place and its part in the Pennsylvania RailRoad's civil war history.  Plus I can bring my Doberman along to sit out back with me!  I recently moved down to New Freedom and love the town and this tavern.  I have always had good food and the staff is very nice.  It has become a regular hangout on the weekends and a perfect stop after a hike on the trail :)

Well, the hodle is a great place if you want to get down on the weekend with some locals. You can play pool in there too. It's also fun during the day for a random mid-day drink...quiet and no one bothers you. I wouldn't suggest getting food there though. Maybe it was just my bartender, I don't know...I don't think she liked me so maybe she gave me nasty wing sauce on purpose.
The wings are fried beautifully but the sauce tastes like sriracha. While I do like sriracha, I want buffalo sauce for my buffalo wings! lol I couldn't eat the wings with the sauce and just ate the wings plain instead (i got the sauce on the side and wings naked). Also, she only gave me like 1/4 cup of sauce on the side...like 1/4 of the side cup. Why not just fill up the side cup like normal places?
And then, I ordered a scotch and soda and the bartender gives me a scotch and coke...and then tells me it's my fault because i said "soda" instead of "soda water." Welp, when I tend bar I ask my customers, "what kind of soda? soda water? gingerale?coke? what?" to make sure I don't mess up their order. #endrant lol

The Hodle is right off the rail trail in New Freedom. New Freedom is not a big place, so it is hard to miss. I'm not sure why, but I love the Hodle. I've never even eaten here, but something just seems right. Smoking is allowed, but I've never been overwhelmed by it here. I have to admit, I've never been here when it was busy.  

The one thing about this place that I know makes me happy is they carry both Hypnotiq and Hennessy. I love Hypnotiq and Hennessy(Incredible Hulk) and this is one of the few places(that I will go) in the York area that you will find with both liquors. Maybe that is what keeps me coming back.
