Starting to make this my standard hang-out when I'm too lazy to look for somewhere new and interesting to go.
The staff is great and friendly. The food is better than average. They make a mean burger.
I dropped in for a quick beer on Friday night and ended up staying 'till close because the live entertainment was so good.
...and watched the bouncer handle a "situation" with professionalism and tact.
So... really starting to like the place.
Its been a while since I ate here. We went on a Saturday about 5pm. The bar was not crowded, prompt server after we were seated.
She took our order then a few minutes latter my date got her salad. I told her that is weird, we should have got
the appetizer. Then maybe about 15 min from the time the order had been taken we got our meals, no appetizer and no time
for a salad to be even eaten. The food was poor. The prime rib was super salty. We asked the server if she could take
the appetizer off the bill, she acted like she knew nothing then said you never got that? They had some weird dress
attire going for the staff as all were in PJ's.
Maybe the lazy pj's day got to them all! This place has gone down hill in the last few yrs!
so after 14 people became ill from the Taco bar served by Hoffbrau. I shared the experience. Not being concerned for out experience a member of the bar lashed out at me for my comments and blamed me for the people getting sick. I actually took time to respond due to the fact that me and my group were 20 year customers dating back the previous owner Chris. It was sad to see the lack of customer care or precept ion. I will never be back, never recommend, and make sure to spread the word.
Review Source:I don't know about the rest of the menu but the FRIED PICKLES ARE THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD! They are fried as spears and the batter is super crunchy. I wouldn't be suprised if they were Valasic. Fried pickels (or anything fried for that matter) does not lend itself to take out so if you can, sit down and enjoy them, Seriously. Oh, and the waitresses are not hot you silly man! However, they ARE very nice!
Review Source:Pretty good place if you are up northwest. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed. Great Atmosphere. The band there Thumpin was super good and had tons of people on the dance floor. The food and drinks were reasonly priced. We had shots and they were nice sized shots for the price. The waitresss were very nice, but my fiance said I couldnt go back alone cause the waitress's were hot and there were alot of cougers there!!!! Overall not a bad spot.
Review Source:I tried this place a few years ago I hated everything about it! Especially the rude server and even more rude manager! I would say I was pleasantly surprised when I went in to find they expanded! I'm glad I went back my server was the best I have had in a long time very attentive! The manger stopped by to check on us steak was perfectly cooked! I would have given a five star but some cosmetic improvements would be great! New local hang out!!!!
Review Source:Horrible place to go. They had nice staff and a few horrible managers. Now the friendly staff is gone and what is left are two horrible managers who act like it is a royal pain in the ass to do their job. Too much gossip, below average food. I will take my money where I am not treated like dog crap.....
Review Source:If you are in your late 20's to late 40's, want to have drinks and dance but don't want to travel all the way downtown, this is the only place other than Lodo's on 104th and Fed and Electric Cowboy that I will go. They are always busy on the weekend nights and have live bands and a big dance floor. There is a patio if you like a smoke after a few drinks and the crowd is not too young. For a local neighborhood bar, the peeps that come here on the weekends dress up like they are going downtown. The place is big enough where if you want to dance or watch drunk people dance, there is one side of the bar that caters to that crowd. If you want to kick back with friends and just shoot pool, there is that on the other side of the bar.
Review Source:Terrible food! Â I will not be going here again. Â My husband ordered a steak with salad and veggies. Â I got a side salad, which was horrible. Â How can you mess up a salad? Â I could tell the salad was not fresh at all, out of a bag. Â And the sauce was supposedly homemade, but that was out of one of those big plastic containers. Â Veggies were steamed until they had no more taste. Â It took 40 min to get this terrible food, and it wasn't cheap. Â Would not suggest this place to anyone, unless you think terrible food tastes good.
Review Source:I have dined at Hoffbrau a few times many years ago, and at that time the food was four stars and the service was three, almost four stars. I don't live in the area anymore, but was near there today, so I stopped in for a late lunch. What a disappointment in terms of service! The food was great, except for the onion rings that were part of our appetizer plate (tasted of old oil, and when you bite an onion ring the entire piece of onion is not supposed to slide out!). The big problem was the slow and inattentive service! We waited too long to get menus and order drinks, waited too long for our drinks to be served. We ordered our appetizer and meals when our drinks were served(finally), and waited forever for the appetizers (which were served without plates so we had to ask for them when we could get the attention of our server). Then we waited forever for our meals, and not once did our server stop by to check on us, ask if we needed our drinks refreshed, nothing. Our meals were great, but this place has a serious problem with service. It was not crowded, there were plenty of servers around, simply no excuse!
Review Source:I used to hangout quite a bit at the Hoffbrau Bar & Grill in Lakewood years ago and nearly always had a fun time there. Â And I went to the old one on Santa Fe a few times over the years too. Â Both places were bars AND had better than average food, with a focus steaks, prime rib, and the like. Not the case here, from my experience a couple weeks back I think they should probably change the name to loose the association with a locally known restaurant. Â
If me and my GF had gone there for a night of drinking and live music this review might have 4 or 5 stars, but we went for a quick bite and a beer. Â The place looks like it could be ton of fun on a weekend night, or if I was still single on ladies night. Â It looks like they expanded into the place next door to build a pretty nice looking (and good sized) stage and dance area. Â
The food just isn't that good. Â We split some brau chips that were a little stale tasting, and some wings that didn't have much meat to them but were still OK. Â My Cuban sandwich was a joke, easily the worst one I've ever had. Â Her wrap was tasteless as well. Â And the salads we got on the side weren't very fresh looking or tasting. Â
I probably should've consulted Yelp before going to a place I thought would be like the ones I used to know. Â No biggie, we didn't get sick or anything. Â And who knows, maybe I'll go back and focus on the Bar part of their name.
My Review is based off lunch time experiences. Â
I didn't know what to expect. Â So I guess I could't be too dissappointed, unless their food was bad.
The menu isn't very extensive. Â Which was fine, we found something to eat.. and also some fried pickels ( where yummy). Â Overall the meal was good enough to have us looking at the potentials.
Potentials:
Ladies nights... Happy Hour Menus 6 days a week from 3 til 6:30
T Bone Tuesday - $15
All Day Sunday Happy Hours
Pool Tables, plenty of seating, dancing area, looks could host a great weekend night out :) Â
The atmosphere is that of a bar that's been around a while, ripped seats, older feeling... not bad.
We'll update after checking out the night life here :)
A great place for drinks & dancing on a Friday or Saturday night!
Hoffbrau is quickly becomming our go-to place for drinks & dancing after a show at Wits End Comedy Club. They have live music, usually a cover band, and it definitely gets pretty packed.
Sadly, the beer selection is pretty sub-par. They have a ton of beer on tap, but not much worth drinking. It's the usual Bud & Coors, etc. with a Sam Adams & Fat Tire thrown in. But, it's a good crowd and I can choke down a Sam Adams occasionally.
The service at the bar is great. I'm amazed how those girls keep up.
Hoofbrau is great for beers and Food and beers..... Been going since the 1991....Since I live in Seattle now don't go much, But when ever in town I always make a visit.... The owner is Pittsburgh friendly. Every Sunday I was there watching the game. Wish there was a Steelers bar here.. Miss that!!! Get drunk get --------!
Review Source:I see lots of reviews about bad service, but I would say that's about the only thing they have going for them. To call this place a steakhouse is, uh....misleading. It's a bar, with a limited beer selection and mediocre food at that. Don't go here if you are looking for a nice dinner out. It's really close to my home and I'm new to the area, so I stopped in a couple of times by myself. The WORST part about this place...the people who hang out there. I've never seen a stranger crowd. I still go here pretty often just cause it's really close to home and the service is always good, but I won't go by myself cause I always get stuck talking to some creepy dude.
Review Source:I hadn't been here for almost a year. The last time I went, I had some bad service, but I decided to give it another shot because I felt like some beer and food close to the house. I can't remember what night it was, but they had all you can eat ribs for $13.99. They were awesome. Very well cooked, good BBQ sauce, and my sides were equally as good. I wasn't sure if they offered all you can eat sides as well, so I asked. The bartender Bridgette politely said, "I haven't ever been asked, but you bet." It was a great meal, with great service. That's all you can hope for.
Review Source:So what's happened to the service at the Hoffbrau?!  We live relatively close and have been frequenting it for the past four years.  The bar area  has always been way to cliquish, so we sit at a table.  Since Feb. of this year we have experienced being ignored a total of three times.  We are seated...hardly any customers...no service.  I know you are probably thinking why would you go back!  The steaks and burgers are so good!  However....common sense has set in and we are trying new places that just might have great food AND great service!
Review Source:I've been coming here since 1994. I don't get in more than a couple times a year now, but always enjoy the burgers and wings. The steak sandwich at lunch is also pretty good. Overall, a solid B and an A- for the wings.
I haven't been here for the night life for years, but it's definitely a locals place. They have expanded and appear to have an area for a live band.
went back in June and really liked it a lot..we even went 2 nights in a row! Got a salad and a few beers the first night and my boyfriend got a burger and really liked it. Â the 2nd night we just went for beers and to watch a live band. Â The waitresses and the owner were all really nice and we cant wait to go back again!
Review Source:Hoffbrau is more bar than grill. In fact it's the kind of bar that's proud to have a taxidermy on the walls and neon signs in the windows. But as hard as Hoffbrau tries, there's nothing remotely divey or western about it -- it's like a caricature of the kind of place Walker Texas Ranger would hang out at.
Texas Rangers apparently like crappy beer, because Hoffbrau has a vast beer selection ranging from Miller, to Miller Light, to Bud, to Bud Light, and beyond. In the beyond category is Fat Tire. And if you want to eat in a restaurant but drink like you're propped up against a parking meter in a sleeping bag, Hoffbrau sports a cocktail menu featuring UV Vodka as an ingredient.
Wanting some greens with my meat, I foolishly ordered a house salad. Out came a pile of ice burg lettuce, some shredded cheddar cheese, and blue cheese dressing that could have just as easily been expired nonfat mayo. Even by bar standards, that salad was inexcusably bad.
My California Chicken Sandwich came with bacon that was too thin, stacked on a fast food bun, and with two pathetic looking little slices of avocado. To my surprise, however, the chicken itself was perfect: marinated, fresh, and grilled to perfection. My girlfriend's buffalo chicken sandwich was reportedly tasty and while the fries are from a bag and sprayed with sugar or starch, they're also good.
But alas, while my sandwich made par, the restaurant itself didn't. Not even close. I can forgive a lot, but the crappy beer and worse salad are unforgivable.
yipppeee! They brought the wings back to the HAPPY HOUR menu! Â Thanks Hoffbrau! Its like Cheers....the waitresses are great, they get to know you and remember what you like! Great neighborhood bar for happy hour.....not sure about the younger crowd and the band scene....but whatever!
Review Source:Do you remember when you used to get 12 free steak dinners at the Hoffbrau when you bought a windshield? Hmm...can I just get the windshield?
I like dives, I do, but this is pushing it. A blt on wonderbread, heavy on l and t, but easy on the b. Perhaps a good spot for a cheap happy hour (they do have shuffleboard) but not a good place for lunch.
Why did I do this to myself once again? I've been there multiple times since it is local, but ew gad! I wanted late night steak and shrooms and really wish I had gone to taco hell instead. The sirloin would have bounced off the floor with its rubber-like texture. The vegetable medley was certainly frozen. The shrooms were supposed to be buttons but instead appeared to be emaciated slivers soaked in ? The baked potato was the only tolerable item, and even that was served with margarine instead of butter, yuck. Seasoning of any kind is unknown here. My man ordered the open face beef sandwich which was worse than my dish. How is that possible?
To their credit, they now have a dance floor and live music. Should I return it will be for the entertainment and beer.
Went here twice on a recent business trip. Â In a area that is prominently large chain restaurants, the Hoffbrau stood out as not your "true" chain restaurant. Â the atmosphere was nice, smashingly great prices on meals and drinks. Â
I had the Burger one night, which was awesome, and the wings another night which were ok. Â The atmosphere was visually stimulating. Â I would recommend it to anyone of my co-workers passing through the area.
I went here on a Saturday night with some friends, to watch my husband's band play..The Raygunomics. Â Overall, I think it's a great venue to catch great live music in the suburbs. Â Apparently, they have really good bands every weekend, and even recently added a stage and dance floor area that's really nice.
We did have a fun time, and really enjoyed the Ladies' night specials: $2 well and house wines, and $3 premium. Â Along with a raffle at midnight, giving away a $30 gift card to Victoria Secret's (although we didn't last until midnight...).
It's not close to home for me, and not spectacular enough to make me drive that far for nothing (even though the people watching there is PRICELESS)... so I'll probably only be back if the band plays there again. Â But if you live out in that area, I highly recommend it if you're looking for some live music on the weekend.
Food is alright... don't get a salad, it's nothing special. Â But I've had a real good buffalo burger there. Â It may have depended on the toppings I had, but I'll definitely order it again. Â
I prefer it as a place to go to get a beer for happy hour and some appetizers. Â It's good for late night food & live weekend music.
We've all had this experience, right? You enter a restaurant and think, 'This is a mistake. Turn around. Leave.' But you don't listen to yourself, and then proceed to watch your plans for a nice dinner stomped on by a surly waitress and her brigade of chefs from hell. That's exactly what happened when I mistakenly wandered in here the other night, hoping for a nice steak and a glass of wine to celebrate an occasion. Yelp listed it as a "steakhouse." Nope. This place is a bar that serves steak.
My wife had said she wanted steak, but didn't want to drive to Denver. How bad could it be? I can't give this place an awful rating because it's my fault. This place is what it is: a neon-lit, Friday night meat market for the 30/40-something crowd just trying to have a little fun--hence, the "Meh...". We chuckled at the cougars standing next to our table, who were literally yelling at each other in order to be heard over the cacophony. I guess our meal was, in one sense, peaceful in that we couldn't talk to each other given the noise. The food was lackluster all around. At least it wasn't expensive. I figure a mistake like this once and while won't kill me--but it's still painful.
This is a good place to go up here in the Burbs if you want to eat late. Â They have ok steaks and a good selection of other foods. Â They serve the full menu until 10:30 and then a good bar-food menu until 1 (I think it is 1).
They have live bands on Friday and Saturday which can be kinda loud due to the medium size of the place. Â
All in all a good local hang out place.
