Hope and Anchor

Beautiful outdoor patio with view of the mountains, friendly service, Tequila Tuesdays are a great deal, very fine micheladas and spicy Bloodies. Loved this spot especially for an afternoon cocktail.

My husband and I were visiting home for the holidays and spent an evening hanging out at Hope and Anchor (one of the hangouts we tend to gravitate to when we're in town) with his cousins.

Drinks:  Cocktails are standard, but they are pretty generous with the liquor.  Selection of draft beers is limited, but bottle selection is fairly extensive.  

Atmosphere:  I really enjoy the outdoor patio; it's a great place to relax.  The theme of the inside seems to be "crowded bar," which really isn't my taste, so I would pick the outside any day (maybe except during windy season).  

Staff:  Very friendly, and didn't take too long to get our drinks to us.

Price:  The main selling point as far as I'm concerned.  The last time we went, we ordered three cocktails and two beers between the two of us, and our tab was $22 (pre-tip).  In downtown San Diego, that is literally what you would pay for two vodka-sodas.  Every time we go to H&A I get a little bit giddy when they hand me the check.

Basically, if they were to add more taps, they would have me eating out of the palm of their hand.

Went to this place while sampling some different scenes up and down Mesa Ave while visiting El Paso.  We were there early afternoon, so it wasn't packed...but I really liked the vibe of this place.  Very nice patio; looked like it may be underutilized however (the bar that was outside was unstocked and unmanned..perhaps they make use of it at night).  Was somewhat of a kitschy-place and I would be curious to see what kind of crowd they draw at night.  Parking is okay; not much curb appeal...when we drove up, I was not expecting much as it certainly has a dive-ish appearance on the outside.  Overall a place I wouldnt mind returning to.
