I used to frequent this bar very often from 2003 till about 2007. I go back now and then and still enjoy it as if it was my first time! The only thing that has changed is they now sell Liquor instead of only beer and wine. But oh.... OH!.... the beer selection is fabulous! If you look at the first reviewer's description you'll find it's correct. Fridays has the best Gothic, Industrial, Darkwave music playing in town, if not the only! Very chill place to be in. Never do you find fights or trouble-making people here. There is a cover charge between $3 to $5 depending on when you go. But if you like places like this and plan on drinking, that cover charge is well worth it. Try it

I've always had high praise for the verity that El Paso was, for the most part, a lifestyle permissive city.  What is paradoxical, then, is the lack of bars like Club Dedo, an absolutely brilliant bar with tens of interesting selections of beer, a vivacious bartender, a beautifully restored flat that looked like it belonged to a family of velvet painting stone masons, and a DJ who will not sneer at your request for a song (although this insinuates that he needs redirection, which of course is false -- just sometimes you wanna here a little LCD Soundsytem), but present with the cheerful notion that he will play your request if he has it.

This is an NYC East Village bar.  It could belong in SF's Mission District or Austin's Red River.  Its danky and dark and maintained diligently, but not so much that it loses its aura.

If I lived in EP, I would most certainly be here -- quite often actually -- especially when the night called for some fancy-pants beer, indie music, and a mixed crowd of scene kids and townies.

Extra bonus goes to Club Dedo for being open on Christmas Day and making some kind of intoxicating grog for us, so potent it was, we went home and mashed our faces into reheated, but mostly still frozen pork tamales.  Mmm!
