I honestly love Amuse. It is my favorite place to go in El Paso for sushi. I have been there 3 or more times already. Their sushi is as close as it can get to the sushi in Cali. The service is great, the place is clean and has a nice mellow upscale atmosphere. The sushi rolls are a pretty good size could be a bit bigger for the price but it's okay, because I only go when it is happy hour. They have an awesome happy hour on Saturdays after 9pm, which is half price off the rolls which makes it a killer deal. Honestly I would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the price during normal hours/days. So, now me and a boyfriend have sushi Saturdays cause of Amuse, lol. If you go make sure you try the King Kong Roll it pretty much has everything on and in it. Hope this review helps.

I was really excited to go because a friend said it was a pretty neat place, but I was really disappointed.

Service initially was ok, but as it got busier, our waiter, Scott U., didn't even glance at us at all and we wanted to ask for some napkins. Finally, my friend had to go into the bathroom to get some paper towel because he didn't bother to bring us any napkins.

He took over 15 minutes to bring us the bill after we finished our food so we just sat there and waited. Food also took forever to come out without any acknowledgement from Scott about why it was taking so long.

The food is not that good. It's much too pricey and the quality wasn't great. It looks nice, but the taste is just ok. I think it's not worth the $. The ambience was not bad, but I felt like the music was too loud- I had to yell to be heard over the loud music. Also, the lights are way too dim. It's not really romantic anymore...just dark. I went to eat food at a restaurant, not a bar or a night club, so a bit more lighting would have been nice.

Sushi is ok, but really not authentic. The salmon roll (the ones where you have salmon in the middle & rice outside, all wrapped in a seaweed) was not great. The salmon didn't taste fresh and the amount of salmon given was really tiny, maybe a 1/5 or 1/6 of the roll. I think Koze's $13 salmon roll probably has 3-4x the amount of salmon for maybe 1.5x the price. We also had unagi sashimi which only had 5 pieces even though Scott said there would be 6. There were bones in the sashimi because the sushi chef was too inexperienced to pull out all the bones or too cheap to throw away the really bony parts, I'm not sure which.

Overall, I think this place tries too hard to be hip, but doesn't have good enough service or food to make it a great place.
