I was completely devastated with the El Paso bar scene when I first got to town. Eventually a friend brought me over to Brick & Mortar and the Garden. Brick & Mortar was a great find, they have a great beer selection and reasonable prices. Definitely in the "trendy" district of downtown El Paso, but the dress code isn't sticked here, its usually in the high 90s everyday in El Paso so I definitely like to wear shorts when I go out at night. Great service, and definitely a place you could stroll into by yourself and have drinks at night. Havent tried to the food but I bet it is good!
Review Source:Brick & Mortar has promise for the future, but they don't live up to their website yet. The website menu drew you in, but selections were slim upon sitting down. It was a Friday night and there were no dinner specials or large plates as the website promised. The menu available has better-than-average burgers, tacos, and pizzas.
The Shrimp Tacos were delicious - tangy, the right portion, and the right price at $10 for 5 small soft-shell tacos. Service was very accommodating with refilling drinks, etc. The kitchen and bar seemed to be out of our first three choices, and they were very slow to inform us that they were out of many items.
Again, it was a Friday night, about 1.5hrs after they opened, Â and they didn't seem to have any food prep done (guessing by the lengthy wait).
Overall, I'd try it again. I'd probably go for a drink and appetizer before dinner and not wait on the time it took to make fairly simple meals.
