I've been coming here for yeeeaaaaarrs!! I keep coming back because of these reasons, 1- they have local beer on tap 2- the food is ok for the place 3- the music is loud. Obviously pismo is a destination for valley folks but this is a must stop place. Pool tables are decent and they have football playing on game day . And again I support local beer all day so 4 stars hot shots
Review Source:Weird ways to charge for pool table and horrible service.
I called to find out rates for playing pool, the manager told me "$10 and up and it depends on many factors."
How many freaking factors are there in playing pool? How many different ways can you charge for it? Is it really complicated? I wanted to find out more but he decided the place was too busy to actually talk to me.
In short: I did not know I needed a bachelor's degree to figure out how to charge for playing pool. So instead of visiting this place, I'll be dedicating the next 4 years of my life to this pursuit.
Been coming here since I was a kid. Â Being a local from Pismo, this was a pretty common hang out. Â The bar has a pretty good selection of beers, staff is friendly and the food is decent....typical bar food. Â It is kid friendly, i take my son here about once a month. The only problem I have is it seems during the summer months, on the weekends, this place becomes a hang out for all the valley thugs. This use to not be this way, I guess it's another sign of the times. Â Not into being around the thugs. For me, the best time to really enjoy this place is during the week when the locals come out and avoid the drama.
Review Source:The sign out front says "Best Fish and Chips in Town." Â That is definitely not the case. Â My girlfriend and I went inside when we found out that Pismo Fish and Chips was closed for the day. Â The fish was very bland and unsalted. Â There was a huge variety of beers on tap, however, and that is what saved the experience for me. Â I enjoyed a liter of Moose's Drool (over $12 though... Â Too expensive) and soaked in the atmosphere. Â While I wouldn't recommend the food, the place definitely looks like it's "happening" in the evening hours. Â Wall to wall pool tables and plenty of arcade games. Â Didn't get to experience that, but would probably go back to in the future. Â But if you're a Fish n Chips nerd like me... Â Walk down the street to Splash Cafe or go to PF&C.
Review Source:A friend of mine is stopping in Pismo today with his family and it made me think of HotShots. Â I recommended that he visit here because my family and I had a great time here last year.
We were here over winter break last year and had a blast. Â The billiards were very reasonably priced and the food was fine (we had a couple burgers and fries). Â Also, the beer selection was good. Â I think we spent over 3 hours here. Â Very family friendly, at least in the afternoon when we were here.
We will definitely stop by again the next time we're in Pismo.
This is a pit stop every single time my family and I come to Pismo! It's so much fun. It's built in an old theater, which I love! Great atmosphere, fun games, wide selection of beer (for my insane drunk family). The food isn't anything wonderful. From watching the cook make some of it, it seems to all be standard frozen fare. But they have a pretty good selection of things to choose from. Anyway, you're there for the fun, not the food.
We came here around 10pm and decided to play a few games of pool before heading to our hotels for the night. After seeing the HUGE selection of beers, a bunch of my family members decided to get completely wasted and turn on the jukebox to the most annoying songs in the world. The staff was so great, dancing along with them and joining in on our fun. I'm sure they've seen weirder but definitely NOT louder than mine, haha.
We will ALWAYS continue to come back here for years and years to come. We love Hot Shots!!
Good for pool and beer but forget the food especially the fish and chips. They were tasteless and dry as well as overpriced. Cod would have been my choice but this was unidentifiable. At 10 bucks a shot for fish and chips I just can not justify. Â Service was excellent. I would leave this place to the pool and beer as it is not as they say "best in town".
Review Source:Hubby and I come here a lot to get away from the kids and have a few rounds of pool. The food that we've had was decently good. Pretty basic fish and chips, burgers, etc. But mostly it's a cool place to play pool, video games, drop some change into the jukebox and drink beer if that is your thing. It's mellow enough to bring the kids too. My kids love to battle it out on the air hockey table. Can't forget to mention  that the entrance is a shop that sells oddball t-shirts and the like.
Review Source:Saw all the rave reviews about the fish and chips, so decided to give it a try. Â Did a pretty good job with them will say that they give a pretty good size serving. Â Gave the fried pickles a try also. Have to say wasn't a big fan, they serve up the spears I much prefer the chips. Â All-n-all have to say it was a nice place to hang out shoot some pool and enjoy the beer.
Review Source:$10 fish & chips, $12.50 for a liter of tap Stone Ruination, $10/hr for 2 people to play pool. Â Great spot for families staying in town lots of games for kids of all ages and Adult beverages. Â Video games, air hockey, music and pool.
Decent food selection- it's a bar pool hall- not a restaurant. We had fun, but then again we've been known to crack jokes in the emergency room with a fractured pelvis.
Nice pool hall with rather good food and beer selection.
The food counter looks a little shady and more like something you would see at a bowling alley but its actually great. The bacon cheeseburgers are awesome! It takes some time to get out but worth it for sure!
Also the beer selection here is amazing! They have a ton of nice microbreweries on tap and I think a rotating schedule. They have stuff from dechutes brewery like Mirror Pond Pale Ale. And you can get them in giant 33oz mugs.
We came in for beer and pool and were pleasantly surprised.
Great beer selection on tap -- but no pitchers. Â I had a Spaten. Â Yummy.
Four of us played pool and two others were at the air hockey table. Â We must have played for more than an hour... $10! Â I had $40 out and the guys is like $10 -- I thought I had one too many :) Â Definitely a deal considering that the place was clean and the table were good. Â Nice crowd. Â Definitely a winner in Pismo Beach.
The set up of this place is awesome, yes it used to be an old theatre. I love the open set up.... the bar/kitchen area are set on the stage. It is very open and airy. The gentleman that served us was very polite and gave us some history of the theatre which I thought was pretty cool. The beers are a little pricey $9.50 for a tall Coors Light but, the service was good! We ordered calamari, artichoke & fried pickles (perfect hangover greasiness lol) it was pretty good. Can't beat the location!
Review Source:My daughter and I decided to shoot a little pool and grab a burger at this place last night and absolutely had the greatest time! Â We ordered the fried frog legs and fries and they were delicious...great family atmosphere..nice people....a little pricey ($10 an hour for pool...$35 by the time we had food and drinks and we split the frog legs) but worth the visit on occassion...we'll come back...you'll like it!
Review Source:Let me start off by saying this place isn't only a pool hall ... its the best burger place in town.. They have the best burgers. and the garlic fries are also very good.. We go to Pismo evry year around November and always stop by and get a few beers, a burger and some fries...
So good.. I can't stop thinking about the burgers... The Mushroom Swiss burger is to die for... I remember the first bite, steamy burger very flavorful, and the last bite, very good... ... To the last bite..
This is a fun outing for beer and pool!
On Summer weekends, the tables are a bit tightly packed in but the service is great. Â If you're a germaphobe, steer clear. Â I don't think the place has been cleaned since the 80's. Â Everything's sticky...but hey, it's the beach. They have a great jukebox, air hockey and tasty fries- worth bringing some sani-wipes!
/---- GREAT beer selection, loads of excellent micro brews on tap.----
It's in an old historic theater, very cool building.
I'm not a big pool player, so I won't review the tables/cues/whatever.
Food quality has gone WAY up since I used to come here years ago. Odd selection of anything you can make with a pizza oven, grill, and fryer. You order right at the kitchen, which is open so you can see everything being prepped/made, I like that when ordering food in a bar type situation.
Yay, my favorite pool hall in the SLO County area! It's right next to the water in Pismo Beach, which is a nice touch. The atmosphere is loungy and fun. My favorite was coming to ladies' night, where women get the table free for I believe 1-2 hours. The trick is to come with a large group of women, and then you reserve the table under each woman for an hour or so, then switching to the next. Voila! several hours of free pool! The prices aren't too bad if you come and pay, but the free pool is even better.
As for the bar aspect, the food wasn't much to look at or taste, but there was a good selection of inexpensive booze to ruin your game from drunkenness. This allows me to forgive the bad food because, well, it's a pool hall. You come here to drink and play pool, not eat. In an area that's sorely lacking in cool night spots, Hot Shots is a nice place to go.
A former theater, this pool hall has many tables, great balls and sticks (lulz) and they usually have a rockin' soundtrack. With 4 players, an hour costs $3; probably the most fun you can have with that amount.
If you are bored in Pismo, which happens often, a sure shot at fun is Hot Shots.
