DO NOT Eat here! Ate here tonight and the food was mediocre at best, highly over priced, and service was polite but slow. Also, we were told after we had ordered and half the food arrived that some menu sides for the kids meals were not available, we were offered no replacements or alternatives. To top it all off, six hours later my daughter became ill, and soon after one by one all members of our  8top were vomiting, sweating, and  experiencing diarrhea. Thanks so much Houlihans for making the beginning of our long weekend in St. Louis amazing!! Seriously, How hard is it to run to the store and buy a bag of baby carrots? This place is a food poisoning disaster. Go at your own risk.
Review Source:While I have never been a huge fan of chain restaurants, someone there's a diamond in the rough.
When I first came to this place many many years ago, I didn't think they were a chain at the time and the food kept me coming back.
Service has always been excellent and I can remember only one time that an order was messed up, the manager was so apologetic that he stated he would discount out bill and we ended up only having to pay for drinks when only one person had to wait about 10 minutes longer.
Love this place and can always count on them for a good meal.
being an independent restaurant veteran, i usually prefer non chain restaurants, but my fiance works in the middle of fairview heights, which is just stocked with chain restaurant on top of chain restaurant. i'm not saying they're bad, but not the first choice. but there's a few that i trust. houlihans is one of them. at least, this one anyway.
the service is always quick and good. i'm not a sally (as in "when harry met sally"), but i can be a little picky sometimes. no matter what i change, my food always comes out right!
i've tried a couple of different dishes, but what i always get when we stop by for lunch is the house chop salad. it has chopped greens, croutons, bacon, corn, cherry tomatoes and your choice of dressing. i order without the bacon, i give my croutons to my fiance, and i get the balsamic vinaigrette-- probably my favorite balsamic vin from a chain restaurant. today, i also ordered the white bean hummus. it wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't hummus. i know some places sub out the chickpeas for a different bean (in this case, the white beans), but the dish usually still has the lemony, garlicky flavor of traditional hummus. this one did not. they did throw some kalamata olives on top and serve it with warm pita bread, which was good, but they should just call it a white bean dip instead. i also got a raspberry tea arnold palmer. tasty, but very very VERY sweet!
it's nothing fancy, but houlihans is a spot that i can count on for a simple, quick meal with the fiance on his lunch break.
i also saw that they have a special on tuesday-- half off bottles of wine all day!! it's probably select bottles, but still a steal, nonetheless!! can't beat a deal on vino!!
i went to this Houlihans location because this is the best Houlihans in the area. Last time I went to the Brentwood Blvd location I got mad and stormed out . I just recently, after 2 years or so, started going back. i wish i knew more people who liked to sit outside. they have a nice outdoor area. I am the only person i know who don't mind sitting outside.
I had an e-mail coupon for a free bday meal, i signed up for the e-mail program. so, i got any $15 and under meal for free. i ended up with a burger 72. It is a hamburger with a stuffed mushroom cap on the burger. i got the french onion soup also.
the onion soup is very good. it has lots of cheesy goodness. not a whole lot of onions. but still very good.
i am upping the stars to 4 stars just for the fact that they have my beloved pretzel buns. the hamburger itself is very good. the stuffed mushroom on top was small and undercooked. if i order again i will just get a regular chicken or hamburger.
overall, i will go back when i am in the area. it is very good.
For those of you who don't know, Houlihan's is a medium small restaurant chain primarily concentrated in the Midwest. Â I used to enjoy it more than I enjoy it now. Â My last visit had some notable failings. Â This location in Fairview Heights could really use some managerial attention.
The food was quite mixed. Â The Tuscan salad was a decent starter with lots of promise, but they failed to drain the beans fully so it was very watery. Â The main course was a stuffed chicken with a side of mashed potatoes. Â The stuffed chicken was decent with an herbed butter stuffing which was highly over-salted. Â If only some of that salt had made it to the potatoes which were woefully under-seasoned.
Now, Midwestern chain restaurants are normally quite on top of service. Â However, we had one of the least professional waiters I've ever seen. Â She was way to casual, a bit rude, and spent most of the night seated at a booth nearby with fellow waitstaff. Â
I used to enjoy eating here, but I think I'll take a pass from now on.
My sister and I used to like to go out to different resturants. So I went here for my birthday one year with my her. We spent a while gazing over the menu and the prices. There was nothing necessarily appealing about the food. I let the waiter know that I am allergic to corn and corn based products prior to ordering anything to make sure there was no need for an emergency room moment. I guess he was to busy trying to hit on my sister cause when I ordered a simple salad, it came out with corn in it.
In fact everything I ordered came out with corn in it. It was very irritating. We didn't really enjoy any of the food. After we payed, we both agreed that we definiatly wouldn't be returning.
The Olive Garden was crazy busy for Saturday lunch, so we headed over to Houlihan's, which had hardly any diners inside. Â
The service was pretty good. Â The food (or at least what I had) was very good. Â I ordered the "Vietnamese Shrimp Salad", the most exotic-sounding thing on the menu (substituting seared tuna for the shrimp). Â Usually this results in me getting a bad meal, and me wishing I had ordered a hamburger instead. Â This time, though, I was pleasantly surprised. Â It was a bit overpriced for the amount of food served, but it was delicious! Â The chicken tortilla soup was great too. Â
We tried the three mini desserts platter. Â The creme brulee wasn't too good, but the banana creme pie and pecan pie scored high points.
